Africa ruins world cup with vuvuzelas

While I would never criticize their enthusiasm, I think they could express it in a different way. Those vuvuzelas are obnoxious and ruin the atmosphere and soundtrack of the match, as well as damage people's hearing. It's a world cup, not just a South Africa cup. They should think about other people too.

Hear that sound?

That's thousands of people having the time of their life.

Those complaining about it: Go steal a baby's lollipop you bored ass motherfuckers.

Have you ever seen a World Cup football game?

that is EXACTLY the way to act.

Keep wailing on your vuvuvuzelas south africa! Everyone is just jealous of your party.
oh I understand that bro, cheer and shout the teams (I supported it earlier in the thread) on but to bring in horns that not only distract but actually DETRACT from the game is counterproductive.

I've agreed that being it is there & that this is their way of celebrating shit you cannot take it away from them now, but you (as a nation) will not be considered for ANY future games of any sort. The fear will be that even if vuvu's are banned from future Olympics etc they'll find some other way to disrupt the games, completely childish.

like kids in a candy shop.......

Anyone here been on 4chan in the last couple of days? They've made it so that the sound of those vuvuzelas is looping constantly in the background. It's the most annoying thing ever.

One of you naysayers should try tolerating that for 90 minutes of a football game.

Where I live, the snobs petrol-mow their lawns every other day, trying to outdo each other -
90 mins of vuvu's is p!ss-easy compared to hours of 90+dB, 2-stroke polluting fumes 360degrees around you.
This is all spring, summer and autumn, not just a few weeks of tournament.

Party on, South Africa, enjoy your brief flash in the worlds sunlight,
cuz they'll be ready to sh!t on you as soon as it suits them.

I'll be blowing my vuvu every time I go outside when a game is on!

You can have this in Africa:

EVERYONE is having a good time!

Or you can have this in other parts of the World:

Now YOU tell me which one you prefer?

.
Are you saying that if they get rid of the vuvuzelas, everyone will just fight each other instead?

They just interviewed Dirk Kuyt on TV and he said the noise levels are really effecting performance. Players can't communicate with each other, players aren't hearing the referees whistles, and lots of people are getting pissed off.

Yes, but that's not screwing with a world football tournament. Those vuvus are producing sounds up to 130db. Nobody can hear anything when they're competing with thousands of those blowing at once, including the players. I wouldn't be bothered really if it wasn't messing with the sport being played, but it is.

Why does everyone seem to blame just the Africans for it? It certainly isn't. It's like a rather tenuous attempt at playing the race card.

Fookin ell dood...You gonna have risk assesments done before people enter a football stadium? Typical of a nanny state mind set. Anyway it's the same for both sides so shut the fuck moaning and watch the football.

You sound like one of those obnoxious louts that gets annoyed when you can't talk on your phone in the cinema.

Do you get annoyed with the no talking rule for spectators watching professional snooker? Do you think people should be allowed to shout and scream at tennis players when they're playing? What about golf? Is it unfair that people can't blow vuvuzelas emitting 130db of irritating noise at a golfer when they're lining up a putt?

The rules are in place to prevent the spectators from screwing with the game being played. The noise is preventing the players from playing the game properly. There should be rules in place to stop it, and there probably will be at some point.

Get me the Lotto numbers, while you have your crystal ball out! :tiphat:
Look at some of the news websites. There are hundreds of complaints about them, and players and managers are complaining about them too. I think it's only a matter of time before something is done about the noise.

Mala,
Actually, I followed the link given here (about BBC) - and in the first line it said "minority of complaints about vuvu's" so then I stopped reading.

fwiw, even before these trumpets, crowds singing was high in dB, so I'm really very sorry I don't/can't accept your argument about noise at football matches. It's just a different noise is all.

I'm going to celebrate along with the best of 'em - god knows I've had sh!t this year, so I'm gonna grab fun where I can
