Colorado House Bill 1284

I had that issue when discovering the bubble hash... smoked my grades all the time & nothing but.

After a while, it harshed the back of my throat... esp when I started to mix the grades.

Went to using a vape w a thin bedding of grass to keep it from melting through the screens... that cut the harshness down considerably. Peace

people with marijuana related felonies in this industry are some of the most passionate and most experienced people in this industry. They have been working with this plant and this medicine more than most people, and the assholes and attorneys who helped write hb1284 know that they are a threat to their business. If you can help cut out some of the most experienced, then it makes business easier for them

it is clear as day that that is why felons are not wanted in this industry. There is no other explaination

BUT, somebody who is a felon for: embezzelment, money laundering, tax fraud, rape, manslaughter, theft, robbery, burgulary, etc. don't posed a threat to the competition. It's those who are most experienced with MMJ are the ones who threaten the assholes who helped write hb1284.

IMO those felonies listed above are in fact the felonies who could actually pose a threat in this industry for other reasons, but not competition. somebody who has been caught with embezzlement, money laundering, etc could do a lot more harm in the MMJ industry. But somebody who is experienced growing MMJ definitely poses a threat to the competition

The Bill says that LICENSEES shall have a lifetime ban on Drug Felons, everyone else must pass a background check, so two different standards. Ultimately it will be up to the Dept of Revenue to make and apply the rules, but there is certainly an indication of two different standards being applied, one to the owners who very clearly won't be allowed to be a Drug Felon, and one to the employees, investors, etc.. who have to pass a background check. There is hope.

While this may be true to some extent. There are alot more growers never messed up, got sloppy or did something really stupid to get caught.

While I hate the Noobs who are screwing this up for a lot of folks, I also HATE hearing people claim to have all this expierence With cannabis and all they have to back it up is an arrest record.

Nothing against You MrD. Youve put in the work effort and time and to be discriminated against is wrong.

But quite honestly I dont want a bunch of meth or coke heads running dispensaries and right now I know of a few where the owners are just that.

There is a certain owner I know who was raided and was taken to jail. Man he made such a stink about how he was treated and how he was just a patient and they violated his constitutional rights. He even wrote an article in one of the new canna mags about it. WELL I got to talking to him and come to find out he had a bunch of shrooms, E and LSD in the house when they rolled him. What an idiot.

I dont have an issue with the felony thing but I believe they shouldnt have descriminated against people with ONLY marijuana charges.

.

yeah well shit fucking happens to people, it's called LIFE. Good for those who never got caught. They are rewarded with no fines, no criminal record, jobs, a diploma that means something, housing, etc. They are no different than those of us who have been caught at the end of the day. NO DIFFERENT

A grower is a grower regardless if they have been caught or not

althought I have been busted in the past, getting busted taught me a shit ton more than I knew before. It opened my eyes wider than I could have seen before. Most importantly, it made me more humble, more apprecitaive to what I have, and most importantly it helped realize who true friends are. Overall, it definitely made me a stronger person. Now I just have to deal with the hypocisy involved in this joke of an industry

as I said, the only ones making a stink are the ones who feel threatened at the end of the day

Sometimes it has nothing to do with getting sloppy or doing something stupid. Anyone who truly loves MJ has more than likely been taking felony risks for a long time just many were fortunate enough not to be caught. In many instances where people were caught it came down to a search warrant based on an electric bill (which I think is highly unconstitutional!) or something else that was completely out of the person's hands.

Don't get me wrong, there are many idiots out there too but I don't think it's fair to assume that every person who got caught falls into this category.

In my opinion if you got caught for the crime and you did your time then you should be able to be involved with a MMC.

Yeah, I read that. The other drugs were left out of the article, weren't they? He also left out that they dropped the mmj charges. It wasn't even about the mmj. Which means that article is a lie.

I also agree with the other posters saying it doesn't take being stupid or sloppy sometimes.... shit happens.

Has anyone found any kind of loophole for drug felons?? From what I gather(please correct me if I'm wrong) but I don't think you can even be a caregiver if you have drug felonies, I think you are only able to provide for yourself if you want to grow..
I'm positive you can still be a caregiver. And when they say pass a background check to work in a disp, does that mean pass it to the standards of those hiring you? Pass it, as in no current warrants? Typically when applying for a job that does background checks they will see if you have outstanding warrants, and check your crim record, but it is up the their discretion as to whatever crimes you may have committed if they want to hire you. I think the intent of the language is to keep felons from owning or opening disp.

Yep the other drugs were left out. Once I heard his real story I was pissed about that article.

And TRUE, sometimes life and shit does happen. BUT 9/10 of the "poor me, I got busted" has some PIECE of the background story that the busted one conveniently leaves out of his story of how he got busted.

RARELY when one is being super careful does shit just happen.

And EXTREMELY RARE are people who are totally truthful about how they got busted. Its embarrassing as hell to divulge your complete stupidity , its much easier to play the poor me card.

And you are correct MrD, for the herb growers owning dispensaries and the blemish on your record shouldnt matter.

Electricity bill alone is never enough to get a search warrant unless your running double or triple the watts your neighbors are running. They pull your trash , watch you etc until they have that extra scrap of evidence. You slip up here and your f'd.

I have no issue with convicted herb growers having shops, but I dont want meth heads, crack heads or snowblowers messing up the industry Im trying to survive in.

I agree with both Mr Dank and Moonshine. The last thing we need is meth heads and crack heads making our industry look bad to outsiders already trying to shut us down. We don't want Tony Montana kingpins trying to run things, we've already got some big headed politicians trying to fill those shoes.

But not allowing people who have MJ felonies and ONLY mj felonies is clearly a use of the law to try to wipe out competition. I've mentioned how I've gotten into conversations with some of these biz suit guys, and if/when I mention growing illegally years ago, i get looked down upon like I'm scum. Some of these noob "medical" growers up on thier mighty horse seemed to have forgotten that for over 70 years, the ONLY way to grow this plant was illegally!

Shit, I've been raided myself, in a draconian state at that, and not afraid to admit it. All of us in our crew got too lax, some of us were even showing off, cars, houses, etc. Weed became too plentiful, and we generously handed it out like it was legal to anyone. Only a matter of time before someone opens thier yapper and then you got FLIR on your house...seems like a pretty common family story in America, IMO.

And EXTREMELY RARE are people who are totally truthful about how they got busted. Its embarrassing as hell to divulge your complete stupidity , its much easier to play the poor me card.

but people on here aren't asking for sympathy. nobody is saying 'poor me'. they are simply saying that the law is a bunch of bs. if you've paid your debt to society, you should at least be able to be apply for a job (if not own the joint).

many of us on here with records would say something similar to Mr.Dank, whom i will now qft...

although I have been busted in the past, getting busted taught me a shit ton more than I knew before. It opened my eyes wider than I could have seen before. Most importantly, it made me more humble, more appreciative to what I have, and most importantly it helped realize who true friends are. Overall, it definitely made me a stronger person.

And I agree. The law is BS.

I was just pointing out that sometimes these people who are crying out about being unfairly treated for their MJ bust had OTHER stuff in their house that compounded the whole debacle or try to blame others for their own mistake. If your bust was for MJ and MJ only, you deff shouldnt be discriminated against.

Trust me, Ive seen first hand how humbling a bust can make someone but I also know of a couple of folks who got busted from their mistakes and have never owned up to it.

I take offence to the part of 1284 that makes me be fingerprinted. I take PRIDE in the fact Ive never had my prints taken against my will.

1284 sucks, but its going to happen whether we like it or not. Better hope the lawyers rip it apart better than the help they gave that guided these a-holes into the decisions the state made.

this industry is so shady and full of hypocrits

In think along with a background check, people should under go an "ego check" to work in this industry. Nothing cracks me up more than douchebags who are so full of themselves in this industry.

I have met famous musicians who don't even have that big of an ego

For example, this is apparrent in the arrogant behavior of some of the trolls on the Colorado threads!

A little modesty goes along way! And yes, I know some rappers that have more down to earth sense and humility than some of these cocky growers.
