Buy land (several acres) if you can. On or close to a body of freshwater is the best.

Weapons and Ammo: I prefer tactical military weapons. IE Shotgun with 00, tactical rifle (M4 platform or FS 2000 with a good scope for me), a couple of good large caliber pistols. A good scoped hunting rifle is good too. Ammo, ammo, ammo. Learn how to properly operate a firearm. Including quickly clearing jams.

Start a garden. Non-hybrid seeds is better.

Cows and chickens for protein. Fish if you live by a large body of water.

Form a good group of people. This is the most important thing IMO. You'll need to be around people you can trust when things get ugly. Surviving tough situations is always easier with a good team. Immediate family is the most important.

I have a fence built around my house only right now. I don't see the need yet, but when the time comes I'm probably going to run concertina razor wire. This is some nasty shit to get caught up in lol.

Whatever the case. You don't want your place to look like the easy target. The more militant and threatening it looks the less likely the starving angry mob, who ignored all the warnings, will try and infiltrate your home.

instead of getting all political...in a dire situation you'd be suprised at what ppl will do.

we know exactly what they would do...look at katrina...looting everywhere. protect your household and family...stock up on supplies and defend your land until help arrives.

i like spastic gramps idea....definately trying to save up for a land purchase. most kids my age trying to save up so they can drop 30k on a car....but im looking for acres.

That's music to my ears bro. You are right about what happens when the SHTF too. Looting and people going crazy. Desperate mobs are nothing to scoff at. They are dangerous. The veil of civility that we live under is very thin these days.

That was great video too NOKUY. That guy had it down.

I bought "The U.S. armed forces survival manual" and the "back to basics, A complete guide to traditional skills"

Both have some nice information from everything to making soap to brewing bear and a bunch more important info...

Also got 27 different types of none genetically modified / none hybrid fruits and vegetable seeds.. They can be harvested and replanted year after year...

Plus i got gasification info printed and well understood other then having my own system already made..

I don't have any fire power as bad as that sounds... but i do have safe spots planed out that are not as populated as other places... I'm sure someone has a few guns there tho for hunting and protection.. mainly protection as i will want to hunt with other methods that don't re-lie on a bullet that i personally cant manufacture..

but other then that.. i don't have everything i want/need.. but at least I'm not livin life like most people never even expecting shit to go down...

I don't know about you all... but it seems like things keep happening more and more around the world leading up to something maybe?.. ether way.. imma try to be ready...

i see all the videos on youtube of people stocking up with gold and silver
i cant see the point myself,it would be like carrying heavy rocks around.
imigine if it does go haywire with no one going to work, looting,no food for the big citys
and some one approaches you with a big bar of gold for some food.
it would be,na your ok mate i dont need a paper weight.
whats with all these companies buying it all up anyway, they are everywhere?
if things did go down it would take years for the money system to return
if it did at all and what would be the point of using money again?

I think all them companies are buying up all the gold because they know shits about to happen, and they wanna collect the gold from all over the world and the easiest way to do that is to raise the prices were people cant resist to sell it...

If its not for that reason then its the people in a position of power that raise the price just to triple there bankroll...

you name it and im probly ready for it, i have always bin a bitt prepared but a few years back we realy got ahead of the game.. then when it was time ta start this last venture, we found that we had the resources in reserve ta put what little cash we had into lights and the like. now we are runnin a comercial grow and regular crops abound.. getting over stocked next, figgure there will be many orphans in the dismal times that come so we would like ta be ready for them. then theres the zombies (thats your dumb ass that thinks you dont need ta prepare, lifes a lollie-pop), we have somthin fer them too ,, :shooty: ... preparedness is a way of life around here, ya just dont know when it might go sour, and ya never know how long it will last. seeds, buy seeds, heirlom if ya can, seal them away, keep enough food on hand ta bring in two crops (just incase the first dont work out), have enough seeds for eight years......... if you see a windage flag, things are not good for you :)

The short version is that gold is the only tangible item that's not life sustaining that's always held value. Gold is a store of wealth. A place to put your money where bankers can't steal it by making your paper money worth less through inflation. Those that purchase metals aren't looking for something to buy food with later. They already have food and gardens and/or the skills and supplies to make it happen if need be. They are looking for something that they can later trade for acres of land or a profitable business or similar. Barter would become the main avenue for trade. This is where silver will be important. Think of gold as your $100 bill while silver is your $20 bill. You save your earnings with the big bill and spend the small bill.

(edit: In the case of the rich and elite top tier, they buy gold because simply "He who has the gold makes the rules.')

bump :tiphat:

Just some thoughts here peeps.

These are some good reasons to get prepared for any eventuality that could come down the highway in the future and a cpl. tips so that you and your family can survive it in comfort. (dont depend on the government to save ya)

Sounds like that old survivalist mumbo jumbo to some of you, but it makes more sense than ever these days for the following reasons:

1. Social Security and Medicare: They’re going to collapse. (2012 is the year I heard) If you or any member of your family are connected with them, you’ll be affected. The less you are dependent on any government program the better.

2. The economy: America is in debt up to its ears. As it continues, some economists predict foreigners may lose faith in the American dollar, pull their money out, and we’ll be in an instant Depression. If you’re near a large population center, you could be in for trouble from desperate people pouring into the countryside.

3. Terrorism: Terrorism could visit America again, possibly in the form of a biological attack which could require us to hunker down in our homes for months. A “dirty bomb” may require us to evacuate for an extended period. A chemical attack would be less severe, unless it happened right in our town.

4. Rising crime in the country: It may be down in the cities, but it’s rising in the countryside because a lot of city scumbags have moved into our neighborhoods. The farther out you live, the safer you’ll be, but there are lots of self defense measures you can take, including being properly trained in the use of a gun.

5. Inflation: It’ll probably be the government’s choice weapon to battle the coming insolvency of Social Security and Medicare, mentioned in number 1 above. If inflation reaches 21%, as it did in the Carter years, you’re going to look pretty smart with a garage full of survivalist items like a generator and a year’s worth of food and other supplies. Inflation is already affecting selected items, such as plywood which jumped by $7 a sheet a few months ago. Hard to build a home, addition, or anything else without plywood.

6. Illness: What if a deadly epidemic like the 1918 flu came back, and there is no vaccine available (Sound familiar?) to protect your family? You might have to stay home to avoid becoming contaminated with the deadly illness. Do you have enough food and supplies to do that? On a personal basis, if your breadwinner falls ill, who or what keeps the family going? If the main wood chopper falls ill, who cuts the wood for your wood stove? It’s tough having a sick family member, but it’s much tougher having it complicated by having too little food and other necessities in the house.

7. A personal economic meltdown: You personally could fall on temporary hard times with the loss of your income. Are you ready to weather such an event until you can get the income flowing again? If you’re making good money now, pay off your debt, and put some money away, either in a bank or in a drawer. (These days your drawer pays you almost as much interest as a bank.) Maybe even pay up your mortgage, if you have one, a few months in advance. That’ll also cut down on your interest payments. Stock up on food. Not only is it like having money in the bank, but it’s a good hedge against rising food prices.

8. A severe winter: No one knows where the price of oil and gas are going, so it’s a good idea to keep extra fuel on hand. I don’t keep a big tank of gas because even with a gas stabilizer added it tends to get stale. But I do keep my vehicles full of gas and I have several 5-gallon cans of Stabil-treated gas, plus oil and lubricants to take care of my chain saw and other 2-stroke implements. I also have about a three year supply of wood for my wood stoves, and backup propane heat. If there is an electric blackout I have backup propane lights in several rooms. One of the best ways to deal with a fuel shortage in a cold winter is to simply stay home with your ample supplies and enjoy the wood stove.

Preparedness is cost effective, convenient, healthy, and fun. There’s nothing like coming home from Costco with a truck load of food and supplies you’ve bought at the much cheaper bulk rate prices. I seldom run out of anything no matter what I decide is for dinner. I date everything and rotate it with the new supplies, so it is very unusual for to have to throw anything away. I’ve also got lots of frozen kale (I love kale soup...) and stored pumpkins (...and pumpkin pie) put away from this year’s garden. I want a big garden and a bunch of chickens, so I can eat lots of pesticide-free food and phytochemical-rich eggs. (I'll also have wild game again and fresh seafood when I get back to Alaska)

I haven’t even come close to covering all the reasons to practice preparedness, or all the ways you can do it and have fun doing it. Plug in your own reason. Preparedness is really a way of life, just like losing weight or staying in shape. You have to want to do it. If you just store a bunch of stuff, it’s going to eventually go bad and you’ll end up throwing it out. Look around at the uncertainties in the world, and see if practicing preparedness in some form might be a good idea for your family

i have been thinking the same thing thats why my whole life has revolved around saving up for land in the middle of f*&*ing no where far away from anyone and you would need more than a tank of gas in most cars to get there so if cities go corrupt it would make it nearly impossible for those to reach my location. I have felt the same way about this. because those on this planet who are not honest and pure will hurt all those who are to survive. so load up on guns too...this might sound extreme but we are dealing with human nature here which is why you must take the necessary precautions, because most humans thought processes make them INSANE! like i have heard on this site before a quote i will remember is "you cant fix stupid" so remember that and be safe! this oil spill might make things crumble a lot sooner than 2012. keep in mind this hurricane season could prevent the cleanup and you can use your imagination from there.
