Tutorial Organics for Beginners

ok i nvr even rly thought about this but

do i add this to my soil

RECIPE #2
If you want to use guano in your soil mix...
Bongaloid's Guano Mix.
Use all these items combined with one gallon of soil mix.
1/3C hi N Guano (Mexican Bat Guano)
1/2C hi P Guano (Jamaican or Indonesian Bat Guano)
1TBS Kelp Meal
(OPTIONAL) 1TBS Jersey Greensand

and then use these teas?

Veg mix-
1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
1/3 cup High N Bat Guano (Mexican)
1/3 cup Earth Worm Castings (EWC)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 1 cup of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
Use it to water with every 3rd watering.

Flowering nute tea mix:
2/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano
2/3 cup Earth Worm Castings
2/3 cup High P Guano (Indonesian or Jamaican)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
(That makes the "dry mix". You can make all you want and save it to use later.)
Mix with water @ 2 cups of dry mix into 5 gallons of water to make the tea.
To that 5 gallons of tea add:
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
Use it to water with EVERY watering.

or is it one or the other?

is it better to use #2 outdoors (50 g rubbermaid) and rely on rain and once a week mollasses water and if they ask a light tea, or use #3 and give my plants a heavier tea once a week (i can only visit once a week tops maybe miss a week)

they will also be growing in the 50 gallons 3-4 months so is it better to fert the soil then add teas later or add teas threwout and leave soil fertless (no bongaloids)

sry if thats confusing its 6am here

I think if you are growing outdoors you only really need to make and add a tea if your plants look like they need it. Those guano soil mixes are pretty hot as it is and I wouldn't think they need much more added to them.

one is for veg and one is for flower. read it!

find out what is best fr your plant and use that. Experience is worth ts weight in gold.

I have a question for those that use the dry ferts in the soil (recipe #1) When watering do you use just plain water?

Is it ok to use liquid karma every time you water? I thought I read somewhere in this thread (no idea where) That Burn One uses EWC tea every time he waters.

What about using molasses all the way through the grow?

Sorry for so many questions.

recently mixed a batch of plain LC's mix #1 with 5 parts peat, 3 parts perlite, 2 parts earth worm castings + 2 tbs dolomite per gallon.

i put some freshly rooted clones into 2x2 inch pots filled with this mix. it's been about 2 weeks and nothing looks healthy. lots of light green, mutated leaves, slow growth, brown roots.

what could i be doing wrong? does the LC's mix need to be supplemented with food for clones? does the LC's mix need to wet and sit for a month to cook, if there are no guanos/meals to be broken down? what should the ph be when feeding soil-less? my water is filtered through a tallboy water filter. i'm a bit concerned and don't really know what to do...

I think if you check out the directions in the first post, it recommends letting the soil sit for at least a few weeks, turning it every few days or so to aerate it.

How many weeks old were your clones?

do you use just plain water?

Burnone´s answer to this is, water and molasses = plain water

you can use EWC every time but it is not necessary.

you can use molasses but I would not use it every time. I used to but did not find it necessary. I think too much molasses is not good for the balance of the soil.

Well that's the plan, I guess I can always just supplement if I see any problems with a little ewc. Thanks for the answer.

hey grapeman, thanks for addressing my problem. my clones were rooting for approx. 2 weeks. they came from plants that were months old.

somewhere in this thread i read B1 state that plain LC's mix does not need to cook. the cooking of the soil is to break down the dry ferts in the mix like the guano and the meals. i tried to search for where i found him say that, but this thread is huge and i didn't find anything conclusive.

assuming the problem is that i did not let the mix cook enough, what would you recommend i do to start the recovery process?

I will take a stab at it but if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will weigh in and correct me.

Although your mix does not contain any dry ferts, I believe it still might be better for the soil to "cure" a while since you are relying on the EWC humics to develop and help buffer your soil. I could be wrong.

But also, what are you feeding your plants?

But, if there is a real problem you should post a pic either here with a question or at the infirmary.

excellent answer of course, another issue may be inconsistency w/ peat

i still rely on peat and have found that aging it after you get it home helps w/ more consistent results

adding EWC (esp if commercial) can introduce similar inconsistencies

i always let mixes age at least a week or 2

The mix is just a base with little nutrients. You should lit it cook for 2 weeks minimum for the lime and EWC to begin to balance the soil out. In doing so the micro organisms make nutrients available t the plants for uptake.

Also you need to be feeding them if there is nothing n the soil to do so. Guano, EWC teas and or Fish emulsions. etc.

unsulphured blackstrap is the best. 1 teaspoon per gallon seems the most popular dose.

drop the animal products and use all plant products and compost. You can use stinging nettles for veg made into a plant extract steeped in water. Alfalfa meal and Kelp meal in the hole mixed with compost. Add a little dolomite lime and some local rocks ad things to aerate the soil.

Do not use fish products unless you want all the animals to show up. LOL

im doing a rmaid grow in the woods and im gunna drop the animal products. im using lcs mix #1.

i have
-alfalfa meal
-kelp meal
-high p bat guano

could u give me a ratio to mix these into my lcs #1 soil for a mix that lasts until harvest (i always visit mid flower and give them a good p guano tea to boost nug production)
i also have 10.10.2 PSG

i can buy hgh n guano if i should just use bongaloids (is this good from seed-harvest?) but i like the other beneficials from alfa/kelp

also im investing in early flowering seeds. is there anything i should know about these mixes when using these?

2 TBS per gallon of soil for the N and the P guanos. Add 2 TBS of the Kelp also. and top dress with the Alfalfa as the season progresses.
