Want something original that could spank any of the elites? Find some seeds, or if you're looking for chem 4 specifically try to find some of the latest rez creations. There is surely a dead ringer pheno of the 4 in there. A homemade pollen chuck cross just spanked all the elites in my garden. fwiw.

What pollen chuck cross did you do?

Clones are nice for easy start up, but there is something to be said about popping seeds and doing the pheno selection yourself...

I think either way you can get some keepers to be mothers.
:yeahthatsIt can be a bitch to run both with the timing, height etc, it's a dirty job but someones gotta do it :D

So you are saying that if I get seeds and sprout them there will be variations in the sprouts and I will have to pick the one I like to be my mom?

I don't really care about chem4 I was just using it as an example. I didn't know it was clone only. Does just renewing genetics and making a new cross make a plant with lots of vigor? Is there a genetics resource you can point me towards so I can understand it a little bit better?

Exactly... There have been times where some of my associates have found multiple phenos that where worth keeping in one pack of seeds. That's why I love a good old fashion pollen chuck, there is always the chance you will find that next "elite" clone.

Figured I would contribute some pics of my latest...dialing these girls in now, probably my best ever:
Rez's Chemdog IX-III (anyone with experience with those genetics know the pheno characteristics?)

so i have a ? about clone only stains. how is it only clone only? i hear about people making feminized seeds all the time using collidal silver. if this is true than can't i just get an elite clone only stain and make seeds from it using this method? the only reason i ask this is because one friend of mine has gdp wich is supposed to be clone only but when my best friend moved back from vegas he had a hand full of seeds claiming the gdp. so he popped them and grew them out and sure as shit it's GDP. if it's not it's the closest thing i've ever seen. so can't i just pic up one of these chemdogs and start making my own seeds.

I mean - you 'can'...and I know my CD throws bananas a little and so I have hermie seeds from that. but it's not like it's 'reliable' seed genetics. but that certainly is a way to get seeds from a 'clone only' strain. But still...it's almost never the same...hence 'clone/cut only' :)

I am far from well educated on this but I believe when you cross a strain you can get representations of either the mom, the dad, a mix of the two and maybe some recessive phenos, When you make f2's of those plants you are much more likely to find phenos that lean one way or the other. Either very close to the mom or close to the dad. Sooo.. In a chem 4 hybrid for instance if you were to make f2's via open pollination or whatever you have a good chance of finding a very chem 4 momma that yes would have a ton of vigor. when you make polyhybrids you have an even bigger number of possible phenos to find. I mean a lot bigger variation. Poly hybrid would be a cross crossed with another cross lol.

Rez made some comments about chemdog being impossible to reverse well. Thats why greenhouse never came out with their chemdog version.
so it works on some plants and not on others.

Yeah, that makes sense...that's why I leave real breeding to the pro's like Rez and I'll take my accidental crosses when they happen :) Greenhouse tried it with their Trainwreck too...successful breeding program from what I understand and it's pretty good bud, but it is not the Arcata Trainwreck that they started with from cut.

Everything from my Chemdawg and Diesel lines herm. Chem D, Chem #4, Giesel, Sour D, and Diesel Haze all throw nanners

I have NEVER seen a nanner on any of my OG Kush's...which further supports my speculation that there is no f8cking way that the OG's and Sour D's are CLOSELY related
