Would you pay $25 a year for ICmag?

Yeah sure i pay the $25.00 but then I want $100.00 for each tute I have put up and $50.00 for every post that i put up answering ppls questions.... and im pretty sure the other contributing members feel the same way... knowledge is power and should be provided at no additional charge to the members here...

Its fair enough they need funds to run things here but asking for fee when we already contribute information at no cost and donate to the site via buying seeds or donating seed that the site then sells and makes a profit to put towards the site is more than fair in my books :)

the later is just my opinion :D

I thought it was 250 for a life time supporter. I'm still making excuses from 2 years ago. Yes. It's been that long. Right now it's, I'm approaching a new financial milestone, and, getting ready for another blackjack run. I also want to order more and expensive seeds. I only have one unopened pack left.

My answer was and still is yes even though I don't visit as much as I used to. It might still be in the top ten minor things I'd like to do. It's the only online community I can find where people have a common interest that interests me.

Yes, easily. The knowledge gained by most members here is easily worth the $250 lifetime supporter fee.

AFAIK there's a members only forum... I wonder what goes on in there. :chin:

As long as they keep YummyBud then I'd pay.

Pretty good deal on the 'expense vs. entertainment value' paradigm.

YMMV

Wow! What a response!
I wasn't suggesting anything, I SWEAR!

It's funny, though. On the Fishing Forum, we heard all the same arguments against paid
membership, but when push came to shove, I believe most of the members enjoy being
paid members. "Best money I ever spent!" was what I heard alot of after it went paid.
Guess what - No more Trolls, Asshats, Meatpuppets, Sockpuppets, etc.

My other gripe about people being so against it is this: We grow the most expensive plant on the planet. It's worth more than gold or platinum. People buy seeds for hundreds and
thousands of dollars. What's $25 in the big picture? Not even an 1/8th.

Would you donate an 1/8th for a paid membership?

Anywho, just playing the Devils Advocate here. I'm hoping to be able to donate some seeds to the server fund one of these days! Thanks for responding!

I would only pay if I got hard copies of ICMAG in the mail every month. WTF is with ICMAG anyways? I have never seen one before. It seems like they made one issue and that was it. Never to be published again.

I work on another canna-board...and we survive from selling banners...is that not the case here??
If not, that is a good option as well-- Start selling banners for Collectives/Dispensaries....they will buy them, especially on a site this big--:2cents:

You're quite right in that we cultivate the most expensive produce on the planet - thus, for many of us we can afford to donate a little here and there and many do. We're not greedy. Those guys who run your fishing forum - they are what you would call fucking greedy and it could be said that you're fucking nuts to pay them for the privilege of hanging out with them and partaking of their super-advanced fishing knowledge. Maybe you got suckered though and feel the need to rationalize why you're paying someone for information. Perhaps it bugs you to see such a vast body of info available here for free compared to the piss-poor tidbits of info available on that other forum that you're paying for.

I dunno man - devils advocate? I haven't yet had the honor of donating something towards the cause here but I still feel insulted that you think that we need to be told to do such things. We don't. I am loathe to say things like "I'm gonna donate" too because I personally don't feel that that's anybody's business but mine and the guys who run this place. People don't donate for Kudos - they do it from the goodness of their hearts and should there suddenly arise some sort of pressure towards this end it would only demean the whole concept.

Another thing - what makes you think that people with money to pay for subscriptions aren't capable of being what you call "Trolls, Asshats, Meatpuppets, Sockpuppets,"? Do you think people with money are somehow better than those without? Money can help you escape the trolls, huh? Sounds to me like you're a bit of an elitist wannabe. Get a grip man. You need to take your tongue out of your own asshole.

You have no idea what the $25 a year goes to, do you? You don't know the people, yet call them fucking greedy, and were all fucking nuts. Whats up your ass?

I don't remember telling anyone they had to do anything.

Who said "I'm gonna donate"?

At 25 bucks a pop, getting banned makes being a troll expensive.
It also would make people more polite, which would be good for you.

Well now, isn't that another reason NOT to pay for such things? You happen to speak your mind one day and bam! that's it - fuck you and your subscription - you're out of here. We like your money - we just don't like your opinion or the way you carry yourself. Huh? No thanks. Paying 25 quid ain't ever gonna make me more polite either. I'll be polite or not polite as it suits me - it totally depends on what other people say. This is the fucking internet man - it's not some kindergarten for the sheltered ones. Deal with it.

It would have been polite of you to let this drop after Gypsy made his post stating that it wasn't gonna happen. If you'd done that then perhaps I wouldn't have felt the need to be so impolite with you. I'm pretty sure he came in here to put people's minds at ease, it can't be nice to see some of the forums most worthwhile members saying they'd leave etc etc, but you just went and stirred the shit up all over again. Give it a rest. If you really want the bottom line - people who don't pay are more likely to value the site for what it is than those who pay. Those who pay tend to value themselves more than anything, say shit like *south park accent* "hey man, I pay my dues man. I really think I ought to have a say in what's going on man, you know man? Otherwise I'll just take my money elsewhere man and FUCK YOU man".

its not $ that gypsy said he wants, its SEEDS! ...

last summer, in the great outdoors (my backyard) i pollinated a serious seeds' CHRONIC female with a serious seeds' CHRONIC male and got about 100 seeds. 90 of the seeds I sent to ICMAG, and the other 10, i germinated and tested myself...

i dont know exactly what it cost me to send these to the seed sorters over seas, but it was less then 5 bucks... i used a leftover seedbay envelope and the plastic spine thing to send them back to the guys, so basically i recycled the packaging materials which saved me $$$.

I friended all of the guys who received these as freebies (checked the current seedbay freebies thread daily), and you best believe that I will be keeping tabs on my little babies (assuming that these guys actually post results). Hopefully atleast one of these guys will come through and provide me with some good information about my first attempt at pollen chucking...

so basically, not only am I contributing to the well being of the site, but I am creating a cheap show for myself... the show I speak of, is being able to watch other growers grow my creation...

MAKE SEEDS AND DONATE THEM! ITS NOT HARD, AND ITS CHEAP!

Is it worth $25/year. Absolutely.

Will people pay? Probably not.

Charging dues breaks from the ethos of the site and would be a silly business decision IMO. The whole idea is to learn to grow weed for free and overgrow the planet.

Never happens.

And to buy *ahem* seeds, of course :D
