Ok my friends Im looking to get a new laptop so give me your suggestions. I need to have at least 2g memory,17"lcd.250g hd,dvd burner.

Just dont buy a Dell, my girlfriends dell shit the bed almost on the exact day her warranty expired. She hates that computer with a passion. I've had an HP for a few years now, it has served me well, altho Im not really the guy to ask because i pretty much just use my laptop for the internet.

I agree I use a Dell now and it sucks. I did have a HP and it worked well untill the screen died. I know that Dell bought out Alienware. I have had Dell,HP,Gateway.IBM Dell was the worst out of them.

My Budget is 900$ or less

The other thing is there are tons of smaller software co out thier. People that make the laser cutters, tshirt machines, pattern cutter, plotters, whatever, they just dont make the software for mac to run those types of machines..

apparently both visual studio 2010 and autocad 2010 run just fine on a mac through both virtual machine and native install through bootcamp...

The ability to operate a computer....A Mac operates itself. I like to be at the controls... It's like a kid proof computer. I don't need to ask my PC to eject a CD or do other basic operations....and the mouse has one button.

Although, the last time I've had any serious time on a Mac was the late 90's...the private school I went to was all about Macs. I would have to physically turn them off by the switch at least every third time I'd get on one.

Maybe you're right, but why wouldn't they run under a 64 bit windows install?

And anyhow, you're talking about a real small niche product. I could say the same thing about certain areas where macs fully dominate, such as the pro music scene.

The overwhelming majority of people use their computers for the internet, music, movies etc. The average person doesn't even need a whole lot of power as they're not rendering huge files or even creating stuff with their machine.

Sure I can understand that, but I am a video editing guy so a mac was the obvious choice.

I never said the average Joe couldn’t use a Mac. I just was saying why their inferior. Not that I don’t have an I phone. Again I am not using AutoCAD on my phone so it can handle my phone needs.

It won't the windows emulator is a slow slow joke.... it's just there to say it can
