40 Sensi star clones ; 2x4 flood table ; 600W SOG

Firstly I will say that I do not have any pictures right now, but will attempt to describe everything as well as possible until I can start photo-documenting safely.

Goal: 16+ zones dried weight
Method: Ebb and Flow
Medium: 4x4 Rockwool cubes w/ a coco mat
Nutrients: Floranova Bloom, Botanicare Sweet
Main water source: Tap (~400u/s, 7.5-8.0pH)
Plants(Strain/count): 39 or 40 Sensi star clones
Equipment:

SuperSun2 A/C Hood
Hydrofarm Xtrasun 600W HPS Ballast
600W Growmax HPS bulb (want to replace this but can't decide on the best bulb). Paid about $60 for this on eBay if I think. Anyone have any experience?
~276cfm Dayton blower (4C447 if I remember correctly)
Can33 Carbon filter
Botanicare 4'x2' (44"x26" or something weird in actuality.. pretty whack if you ask me)
Rubbermaid 54Gal tote as a reservoir
Forget which water pump I threw in there..
Oakton EcoTestr pH and EC meter (two separate meters)

So right now they are just settling into the table and looking great. I'll try to outline this process from the beginning.

Dec 7- received a KILLER Sensi star cut in exchange for what I believed to be a real deal Lemon G cut (no idea if it actually was.. just what I was told). I had no intentions of growing this out .. well.. because I don't like Lemon G. It's a good air freshener and tastes good but that's all it does for me. Where I am, we are flooded with Lemon everything.. I try my hardest to stay away from even the dankest. Needless to say, this strain still has it's believers and a nice story behind it too.

I rooted this sucker (took ~14 days), and immediately started growing it out with the intention that this one plant would provide me with the ability to take as many cuts of some of the DANKEST herb that's around here and allow me to do whatever I want. This plant is my LIFELINE and has been given much TLC.

As far as the buds go with this pheno of SS.. I am talking some of the densest buds that I have come across (and I come across a lot of hq ganja). Has a tad of a lemony scent but not overwhelming, and reminds me very much of how Kali Mist smells (hard to describe). Was told that it was an incredible yielding pheno as well. Source of this cut runs 40 plants under each 1k, and yields between 13-23g per plant. He uses rockwool as well.. I believe 4x4 but not positive (have never personally seen his garden), and veg's until roots are poking out of the 4x4. From there.. he doesn't trim at all I don't believe. End result is nice nugs ranging from .6g-13g. Avg weight of a bud is about 1.8g as a quick guestimate. Total yield is always between 1.2lbs+/1k I was told. Believe close to 2 here and there.. never consistent though.

Mar 1-- Took 45 cuttings and placed them under 2 20w 2ft T8 fluoros.
Mar 20-- Believe all had rooted at this time, but not all were showing it.. seems like it took forever, but they didn't have the most optimal conditions.
Apr 1-- After giving the cuttings a little extra time in their chamber to develop and hardening them off a bit, they were transplanted into 4x4 rockwool cubes and placed in the bottom of the rubbermaid on the floor. Light was about 40" away.

I did this for a reason. The way my light is hung in the room, I don't have a bunch of space vertically, and I wanted to be sure I didn't fry these suckers.

Apr 6/7(don't remember exactly)-- Worked perfectly. Hand watered them every couple days for a week, then setup the flood table.

Ever since they have been in the table, they have been loving life. It's pretty tight quarters in there, but nothings getting shaded. I'd say 2-3" growth every day.

I've been keeping all of them pruned very tightly. About 3/4 to 2/3 of them will be single colas. The others will be 2-3 cola plants due to a little mishap of not closing the lid on the clone chamber all the way. Some of the clones dried out and took some heat damage. The ones that did this pretty much auto topped/fimmed themselves, so I figure I'll use it to my advantage to compare yield between 1 cola and 2/3, and also to fill in space in the canopy.

I know this is all kind of worthless without pictures, but I promise as soon as I can, I will.

Today- Checked on them. pH was high, but no biggie. Got it down to 5.9 and all seems well. Even at 6.7pH, the girls looked great (not acceptable I know.. wasn't able to stay and double check the res after it stabilized the other day). My EC meter reads 'Or' now.. I know it's right around 14-1500ppm (400ppm from the tap). Kinda stumped on this one if anyone could lend a hand.

Btw.. this is all in a 2'x6' closet.. 4" hole drilled through the floor for exhaust.

yo! PurplePotion, whats up!! :joint:
Sounds great man, I really like how you have the SOG setup all thought up and planned out. Looks like you're going to have a nice high production closet coming up.

If I were running 40 sensi stars in a 2x4 tray in rockwool I wouldn't veg them much at all depending on their initial height. I could easily see 40 plants getting tangled/overcrowded in that small space without a very aggressive lollypopping.

10-12g/plant at 40/per will take some dialing in especially at perfecting the lollypopping(I'd try to lollypop up to the top node on day 7 and do it again to third node from top on day 13-14) but I think it's doable!

I'm curious as to which coco mat you have under them, the ¼" mat or the 1" mat? Also, I couldn't really follow...what day flowering are you on now?

Sweet setup :respect: , I can't wait to see what you can do with it! good luck :

oh yeah...and get some pics up!!!:woohoo: :canabis:

Canna- The mat is just a 1/4" GH Coco mat. The whole idea behind the mat stems from a greenhouse ebb&flow tomato grow I did last summer. Roots wanted to grow all over that tray but would rarely survive. I figure the coco mat is an easy way to solve this problem, as well as giving the roots more medium to grow through, and blocking light to the pretty large channels in the tray so roots can grow happily anywhere they want under there. An added bonus will be the stability of the plants.. normally 4x4 rw isn't the most stable medium when plants get large, but with all of the roots hanging on the mat I don't think I should have any problems :).

Flowering actually starting tomorrow.. was waiting for a couple runts to catch up, and for something else to go through so I could get my mother out of there, and into her new permanent home :D.

I will be lollypopping the shit of these guys .. I don't have the room for any growth not on the main cola. It's a really crowded space, I won't lie, but it does the job.

Checked on things yesterday and setup the timer for the flip.

One question as I'm not too familiar with RW. I noticed a bit of PM or something that looks like it on the top of some of the cubes. Realized my exhaust fan was off during lights out, so I switched that up so it's 24/7 .. any other suggestions? Thinking of reducing amount of flooding until they're a bit more established in the mat (I just noticed roots coming out of the RW cubes yesterday :D).. whattaya think?

Flooding every 4 hours lights on, once when lights are off. My only concern with reducing the cycle is I'm afraid I'm gonna go check on it one day, and the day before is when I shoulda switched it back :p.

:smoweed:

p.s. I believe officially these girls received 11 days of veg in the 4x4 RW cubes.. Some are 8-9", one is 1" (was waiting for this little one to come back to flip the lights.. thought it was a goner but let it do it's thing ha). Majority are all around 5-8".

I will be following canna's pruning tech.. pretty much to the T. Also, I have been keeping the girls trimmed (no side branching minus a few plants) since the day they were transplanted.

I also let them veg out this big as a benchmark on yield vs. veg with this SOG setup. Want to make sure I am getting the max yield per plant in this setup. When I'm done, I'll compare to a few others' results, and if it seems like the extended veg didn't help or made things unruly (which I feel can always be fixed with a nice pair of trimmers) I'll reduce the time next round and do the same thing. Might sound lengthy, but I plan on running this strain exclusively for a while in a much larger op than what is posted and want to make sure I have maximized everything.

This is more of a preliminary dial-in grow for the larger op, and one of the first hydro grows I've been able to really teach my partner with.. After this, he will go do his own thing with the knowledge he's gained (quite a bit over the course year.. and I have faith in him), and I'll do mine :).

is that the paridise seeds sensi star? I Have been running that for 2 years... best smoke me and my mates have had...a lemon petrol desil smell...yumm....make sure you trim them up on the bottom or they can grow really wierd and dont worry about the stretch...grow them to what size you want to flower....they strect like less then 10 to 20 % no joke .,..i love this strain and you will too....40 clones sounds good.... get a mover and you will have some huge colas..

Nice to hear from someone that's been running the strain for a while. Not positive of the origin honestly.. I received this cut from someone else.. out of all of his strains (Sensi Star, Ice, Sour D, Durban Poison, Og Kush, Cali O, SSH, Blueberry), this is his biggest yielding and most favored cut -- figure it's gotta be something special ya know? ;)

From your experience whattaya think each of these plants will end up weighing on avg? Just not sure how big the buds are gonna get quite yet haha
