Here's my theory on tips....
If you serve me in a restaurant, cater to my every need, are friendly and pleasent and just generally do a great job then I will tip fat (usually 25%).
If you drive a pizza 2 blocks to my door, you can get fucked if you think the dollar or two I give you isn't enough.
Tipping is fucking stupid, so im supposed to tip delivery drivers? What about the 14 yr old at McDicks taking my order? What about the lady who does my dry cleaning? What about the people I rent my movies from?
The only reason I tip people in restaurants is because they CATER to me, you driving a meal to my door, albeit convenient; is in no way shape or form catering to me.
I'd say 90% of the places that deliver in my area charge a couple extra bucks on your order to deliver... im supposed to tip you on top of that? ffuuuuuccckkk that noise

Here's a thought 9Lives. Did you ever consider that people become more or less nice over time based on the actions of other people? Have you ever considered that, by not tipping maybe you're making their lives just that much less enjoyable? I gave a cabbie a ten spot the other day, and it probably made his day; he was just beaming. The way I see it, we're all stuck on this planet so we might as well do what we can to help other people's lives not suck. Human, Kind, be both. That sort of thing. But hey, feel free to be a jerk if that's your thing, it's typical.

Nope not really..Your emotions don't count for shit im afraid. The only thing that counts is the way you vote and the way you spend your money. The rest is just backround noise..

I view things from an economical persepective. Not much room for emotions..

If you want to vent your emotions on me..Hey go ahead. Just another monkey screaming. If you want to get physical..better have a faster hand than me ;)

It's just unfortunate is all. Most everyone here who never tips would think differently if you ever had a delivery job.

I drove a ton of food. Put your head down, do your job, don't expect shit, and be blessed when it starts flowin. I made a ton of dough driving pizzas. Lots of aholes but lots cool people. Got tipped tons of bud! Made a ton of connects too.

We still do tip..but when we tip it's Product+Delivery+Tip... That's why i say i'm not sure what the tip is for lol :D. But yeah..we usually tip when something is done better or faster than we expected. When someone really goes out of his way..

It seems to me that your system is just harder on both parties. While it is more romantic..i can agree with that. Depends on your outlook i guess. I've always thought that in reality most people are assholes. It's just the nature of the game..

Freedom my friend, freedom to be a pain in the ass to all parties. :D

so here's the deal...IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO TIP ON A MEAL, THEN YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE MEAL....servers get paid $2.85/hr...it's a lower than minimum wage, and it's a shit job. i bartend and you better tip if i'm putting up with your drunk ass in the middle of the night. and as far as delivery drivers go, somebody would have to pay me a lot more than 5 bucks to bring food to their lazy ass, esp. in rain or snow; i always tip delivery people well. be grateful peeps, especially you guys livin off weed money, sheesh.

More than likely those that are not tipping aren't the ones ordering out....

The best service (eating out) I've ever experienced was when I tipped my waiter when he introduced himself to the table, discreetly of course...

Different circumstances, granted, but it worked a charm.

Peace,

SSM :smokeit:

I laughed out loud....:D

AS you can see by the numbers, delivery-guy, the majority (roughly 70%) tip their service people....

A few of the nays don't count either, I doubt you'll be delivering north of the border anytime soon :D

OH I forgot, you guy's wanna know a pimp move to pull on that hot waitress that served you?
Tip her super fat when you ask for your bill, before you even see your tab, I die a little inside every time I do it, but it gets phone numbers!

lol this thread is getting out of hand.

No hard feelings to anyone, different places do things differently at times. I think everyone can agree that everyone deserves to be fairly compensated for quality work.

Which should be the responsibility of the employer, not the consumer.

Wow... this discussion would have been a whole lot better intro to Resevoir Dogs than the "I don't tip" scene they ended up using... fucking Tarantino...

Urban legend - never happened.

Like the story of your ex-prez that wasn't a retard.

And we told your gov't to "go Fuck themselves" when they wanted us to go and kill the wmd hiders. Freedom fries, and all that fag waving nonsense (sorry, flag waving).

Look how that turned out...

We do just fine - take care of your own backyard first...

Team America: World Police...

Thats fine, I won't argue with that point. Its just not how it works here currently. People work with what they have and right now they trust the customer will be aware that the employer is putting that burden on the customer by offering cheaper prices on the food. I personally trust the average customer more than I would the average employer. Lease fees, electric bill, gas bill, food bill, employee wages, home mortgage, childrens school supplies, wife's car, etc being put in front of them makes them willing to rip off the people they depend on for their living (their employees).

Oh, and I gave every waiter/waitress/bartender/staff at my parents 50th anniversary $20 each, personally, and thanked them for everything. That cost me almost $200.

That was in addition to the hefty food and bar tab I picked up - and that had a 20% gratuity tacked on.

Very true, employers generally suck the big one
