Maybe the leaf trichs have been on for a long time, and aren't replenished as much as calyx trichs, and so they look more exposed when viewed likie that. I'm guessing trichs that form early on a plant must die or at least go amber long before a plant is ready, it's just that they're buried so deep in the bud you can't see them any longer?

I think you're probably right. Those leaf triches appeared weeks ago and she hasn't got anymore resinous for a while, she was plastered with resin from early on and hasn't changed much since. The amber colour is from the THC oxidising I believe so it makes perfect sense that the oldest trichomes exposed to the greatest airflow would oxidise first.

Maybe all the ambers will make for a highly sedating smoke? Just going by the triches she could be cut now but I am giving her another week so she has a full 2-3 weeks flush and other indicators such as live pistils say she could go longer. I have cuts of her so i think I need to do some experimenting with different harvest times with this one to find which level of ripeness delivers the best taste and effect.

Absolutely loving the smoke from the other one, tastes sublime, sweeter than the last time I ran the original KC cut, like candyfloss and chocolate, quite potent too, more so than my Mango or Appalachia. It's fairly balanced in effect but I might have taken it a bit earlier than I could and if left longer I can see it getting quite a knockout punch to it like the KC original can have.

Looks interesting Verdant. i loved the looks of your Black forest, but the flower time was a bit extreme! The PP should fatten and shorten her, hopefully you can find one with the Black forest high!

The KC is a pain because it hates to branch, so a SCROG would be the best way to get a yield out of it, take a lot of veg time though, just have to train the main stem around and around as like I say, it hates to grown branches.

Some pics of the KC S1 I just chopped:

Nice big GF. In coco, she grows huge, mine went in at 1 foot and would have been 6ft if i hadn't trained and trained and trained and trained some more. When mine had main branches as long as that I bent those branches over horizontally and tied them down and she still gained another foot in height on the side branches after that, lots of growth potential.

She likes to eat well I found. Cutting out the n after 8 weeks and beasting her with Pk for weeks 9' 10 and 11 then flushing two weeks, first week with molasses or treacle and you will really bring out the rich deep flavours from the Malawi. I really recommend the heavy use of Molasses with the GF as it really enhances the tastes she naturally posesses.

End product is divine though, the quality of Flo and Flo-like buds, but with a rich, deep earthy exotic taste and very flyaway dreamy high. Only drawback I find with it is it's a dry-mouth cougher, really does dry your mouth out a shitload, so have a drink to hand when toking it, and it also makes me cough a little due to the throat and mouth drying effect, but the taste and high are sublime. 12 weeks she's fantastic, 13 and she will kill all lightweights and part-timers and send ardent tokers off for a nice spin round their head. She could have gone 14 I think but I saw a nanner and chopped her, I think it was just the one nanner and at 13 weeks, it wasn't going to cause any problems.

Fuck Soma and his BS rodelization. Just about any female or male will grow flowers of the opposite sex if grown past ripe, even seen the Exodus Cheese do it. Some Dutch woman Soma knows flowered her crop too long and it grew male flowers, she showed Soma and he decides he's discovered a new way of making female seeds that fits with his no chemicals, fully organic approach. Personally, I expect his female seeds are made in the same way everyone else's are - with hormone therapy through chemical spraying. Them cats down in Spain are making female seeds for lots of other people these days.

Soma`s Roderization is badnews for intersexed traits,,,,,"Roderization" in-itself shows a level of stress tollerence bellow acceptable limits for the niche enviroment,,,,

i never seen Cheese show intersexed trits in any situation,,,,but then again ive never take it into a 12th week,,,,,,i think a friend of mine finished 11weeks once, god knows why:),,,,,,,

99.9% of the cheese i see gets chopped at the end of 9weeks max,, usaly, so i could be wrong about Roderization aplying to cheese

Yeah taking plants past their best to get boy parts just proves u r breeding with a female thats not true anyhoo...so the seeds are highly likely to posess the intersex traits in later lines if not in the first cross....I'm not saying no-one should work with anything but true Fems as it limits your breeding scope massively to ignore great plants with the odd nanner...But,the 'Shim' will come out sooner or later in the line or later outcrosses...My PPSkz has a tendency to make a handful seed if run long(and loads if sprayed with CS) and I wont abandon her as I am attached to her-in fact she's the only line I am trying to take to S3 as I'm not a fan of Sexist Breeding practices as u know...Funnily enough I have an S2 of PPSkz flushing now at 10 wks-ish and she hasn't shown any at all although the P1 and S1 did...so the Shimness recessed a little in that line..lol(but its still hiding in the bloodline waiting to pop out I'm sure). Yeah Rick I like the way he thinks...But to be honest after 22 yrs reading and learning about our beloved plant.....I have been trying to use my Instincts again a lot more recently as too much Science can get in the way of good sense and wisdom if u let it...lol!....I'm a 1/4 Romani and that part of me has an Inbuilt suspicion of Technology(My Great Aunt used to say about Space travel- "They fly to the Moon,But they still haven't learned what Life on Earth is about")...The English 3/4 of me is fascinated by Tech and Science tho' so its always a balance thing with me mate!
I am going to see a friend at a West End bookshop in a few weeks who hopefully has some good old and new books and stuff for me..I will let you know what I get my hands on...Luck'n'Lumens JBo
PS what u growing Rick..anything nice?

Sorry to go off on one a bit there rick, but let's just say i have zero respect for soma for a number of reasons and leave it at that.

The Cheese i had pop a couple of nanners was about 70 days and was suffering a tad of heat stress. Hot, dry rooms light leaks, they will cause many females to pop nanners. I know people who love Sensi Star while others think it's garbage because it grew nanners. Personally, a plant must be very special indeed to be kept if it will throw nanners with minimal stress. I reckon most nanners are because the plant suffered stress.

Lovely Goldfinger there Doc - nice one. Another trait I forgot to mention is that it crackles when smoked - more so than any other strain I've had. Almost like Rice Krispies.

Interesting on the molasses - I was going to run it quite soon with the organics etc. but the plant got too big too quickly, and I've had to give it to a friend, and kept clones to run again in a month or two. I'm going to a friend's after the weekend to photograph a seven-footer...;)

1 think i waill say is::: his Roderization is signs of low stress tollerence!!,,,,,,,p1 stock should not have low stress tollerence!!,,,

You've noticed that then? I was wondering if the calyxes dry 'hollow' or something and leave tiny air pockets that pop when smoked? It's very strange, but I like it. Deffo concur on the dry mouth thing too, but that's always been a good indicator to me of an 'up' strain...;)
