What Male to use in a cross?

Doc,

I think you are thinking of the words trifoliate which means 3 leaves, trifoliolate indicates 3 leaflets on a stem, but it is a form of whorled or spiral phyllotaxy.

Anyhow,, use the male you like the look of

utter tosh, and from a mentor this saddens me. try looking to see what the male passes on and how it recombines again presuming a singular male was/is used. now do you see TOM et al the alledged educated are passing on bad practice, how are poeple meant to learn......

I meant: Your "gene pool" not "the gene pool"

"My" own gene-pool of cannabis seeds ALWAYS go out for FREE kids! so get a grip and f-u to any player-haters!

Again ,, i think you folks have me confused with someone else

yes. long days,, thanks

We were taught that horticulture changes faster than any discipline... and have honestly never heard that 'whorly' term before now... must be getting old.

We have however grown and bred many different types of plants before,, including ganja,, check out the forums :D

we dont keep clones! we grow mainly under glass outdoors,, organic and as natural as possible . so what is passed on by male plants is sown out next season or by fellow growers indoors. usually with excellent results (havent had a complaint yet).

i'm only a "mentor" (lol) because they made me one! get over it. we each bring different perspectives to the table of discussion... it's just that ours may be different to yours... that's what makes us individuals.

Hope this helps

The problem being the uneducated/newbs will look at you for advice, and look at your posts see single male breeding and think ok away we go... another generation of polys and poorly bred seeds dished out and swapped then crossed again etc and the soup becomes less tasty than ever... yer way to go...ffs

sad that you just go on post count and not whats within the post... goes to prove the point that certain people just pay attention to the green squares etc.

hay guys...

good thread,,,wow,,,fukin life changing:),,,

ok,,,,,,,,so im the baby that just got shook,,,,,,,,,like my dad used to do, ive been hit with the backhand,,, my ear is ringing!!,,, im up!!,,im listening!!,,im lookin at you right in the face!!.

NOW i need advice to make sure i dont get another slap!!!,,,where am i supposed to start???,,,,,,,,i am a child,,,i know no better!!:)

as a child, i think,:::cannabis is just hemp,,,,if them hemp farmers didnt look to the future, id be sober as a judge right now,,,,, preservation sujests that we need what lies in the past,,,,,,,,,,,,,but, if we look at evoloution of hemp and especialy the rachet theory, maybe the end result from moving forward will be be in our favour:),,,,,,i see the ballance as a very fine line!,,,,1 thing i know for sure is that i want to be able to hit the reset button if my ideas go tits-up an my new lines aint worth sh1t,,,,i see presevation as a sort of reset facillity!!!,,,

imo,,,restarting seedlines needs to be an option!!,,,self-realization of my bad breeding practice or maybe genetic-drift could happen,,,,i need to be prepared!!..:),,,,,,right?

ok....btw ,,holla tom,,you educated me to quite a degree, was it worth it??

Question 1),,,,HOW DO I SOURCE MY Genome`s ,,,??????

is this any good

THE REAL SEED COMPANY said:
Genetics: Traditional Southeast Asian Ganja Cultivar
Type: Pure Landrace
Variety: Native Indochinese "Kansha" Indica
Height: up to 2 metres
Harvest Date: November-December
Flowering: 14 - 18 weeks
Characteristics: Very large seeds with thick shells.
goldentriangleakka.jpg

This is an unusual and aromatic "kansha" (ganja) variety from the Golden Triangle region of Lao. It is cultivated by the Akka people who originate in the Yunnan region of South China. This strain is part of the "Yunnanese Indica" genepool. Cannabis researchers have recently suggested that all cannabis drug cultivars (both sativa and indica) could have originated from this landrace region in Yunnan.

These are vigorous plants with surprisingly dense buds, abundant trichomes and intense aromas of spearmint, catnip and citrus. This is a drug cultivar which smokes very smoothly and produces a very mild, moderate stone. Flowering tips are also used in medicine and traditional cuisine. It is a strain for every serious collector to preserve and investigate further. It has very large seeds with thick shells.

DeepChunk Good enough to use as a source???
is X18 Good enough to use as a source??,,,, is this retorical?:)

where the hell do i get my "source genomes" from????????

what are we suposed to do when the source of the genome is in the form of a clone with no seeds to help with preservation??????

ok.....Target Enviroments?????

indoor,,,,outdoor,,,,,????,,,,,,,,,soil,,,, hydro ?????,,,,

what is the right way??

thankyou any1 for taking the time to read my stuff,,,,,,any help will be put to good use:)

Very interesting thread, not very true to it's tittle thou! ;)

Maybe some mod could change the tittle and post new first message to tell what this thread is all about?

Would also be interesting to get opinions of other breeders on this subject. Specially when theres some serious accusations on them.

nvisionary, you had a good point, but you kinda ruined your hopes to change anything with your unrespectfull mr. knowitall attitude.
Would be interesting to know more about you and your work, you certainly know lot about breeding.
...Oh, and if you don't want me to buy seeds from bay, can you tell me where I can get your OP-seeds? Or should we all just stop buying seeds and growing?

Yours,

Pollenchuckin, seedhacking wannabe breeder, Kaneh.

PS. Just for the record, I use all good looking males I have when making seeds. If I don't know what males to select and why, I use all of them.
I have done "1:1" also, but those seeds are for growing sinsemilla, not for breeding.

what are we supposed to do when the genome we want to preserve is not given in the form seeds but in the form of a female clone??,,,,,,,,i cant emagine that using many males will be mutch use then,,,,,no?,

for those wonderin about nvisionary:

http://icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=146339

after seeing this i must say i actually learned something from this thread...

that is: chimera and his friends are some of the biggest hypocrites i've ever come across on this site ;)
I don't see your point ? Chimera hasn't answered the questions so what conclusions can be drawn ? the other person who the thread starter asks about has! and the said person has not defended Chimera as thats for himself to do...
