Owl.

That is looking pretty good! 10% amber eh? when do you think you'll harvest? i usually do it at about 20% amber.

I think your original concerns will be satisfied once you toke on that hefty lady.

peace!
Fifth.

I just figured I'd let her go until I can't standzit no more, then I'll chop her down.

I'll be relieved when these first two come down.
Right now, nothing can go in the closet because the lights are on the 8 foot high ceiling.

Hm? I sealed off the room but, never thought about that little red light on the power strip. You mean that could be causing me all this trouble?

ive seen pics in grow manuals that showed a big ol plant by a street light, the side by the light was in veg the side that was shadded was budding, its not your little red light, unless of couse it aint that little, red not yellow or orange like hps bulbs put out is the color that promotes flowering.

Actually, I think it was the louvered door. Once I covered over the louvers the problem was resolved but, the damage had also already been done.

I didn't think the small amount of diffused light leaking through the louvers would be enough to cause this much damage to the process.
Now I know :wallbash:

I just came across a thread on another site.

Do The Trichomes On Skunk #1 Turn Amber, week 10 of flowering
There are no amber trichs on Skunk #1 and your girls sound perfect condition wise and time wise for the chop

I'm wondering if this is good info and my plant may be ready to harvest.
I would say it is 100% cloudy trichomes with a few amber, just like is described in the thread.

Here is another thread claiming the same.
https://skunkforums.org/skunkforums/showthread.php?t=14563

Anyone know if certain strains do not go Amber ?

Hey Mr Owl, You deserve some congratulations here, problems or not I would be delighted to pull that first grow, I don't think you upset it in the least, now you can see her it seems that is simply how this strain grows, tons of salad as you said, but no small amount of bud!, the only thing you could improve is the height so theres no waste and you need to grow one out to know that!, look how much better your clone is to mom!, really great to see this, I hope it fits for your medicine, something will.
About the 100% cloudy Q, you can indeed take them now as the drug is reaching its peak, as shown by the cloudy/milky glands, as you know, the absolute peak is when all are amber but not so they are actually starting to degrade, this also produces the most body effect, the pain killer, as opposed to the 100% cloudy giving you the most heady, high effect, you need to find the best with your mum so the clone will be perfect, I would suggest taking it down in 3 stages, some now 100% milky, some a mix with more cloudy than amber and finally the amber heavy lot, you wont loose out as any not the best for pain will be good for daytime/ mood lifting smoke, I hope this helps you.

get a dehumidifier....... it might be the fact you dont have a duct fan lol or the fact you might really have a huge light leak problem im talking any light any led that isnt GREEN AND IM TALKING DARK GREEN IN THE SPECTRUM COLOR your eeyes can see this exact problem problem happend with me but it was a indica called gdp it was deff not the royale cut of gdp but it got screwed up because i realized i wanted to see my plants during the day for flower because i go to sleep early so when i changed my 12/12 to be during the daytime so i could see them well it totaly hermied just my gdp my trainwreck didnt hermi and contued to produce lots of resin and yield about 6 times the gdp's yielded may i not mention the gdp was vegged for 4 months i was extremely upset i just havested my hermied plants and only yielded about a quarter of anything near quality totaly airy and crappy though

20norths advice is to throw it out make some food with that plant its not really gonna help you besides piss you off

and you can use that much trim in butter you just need to simmer the butter with water in it so the leaf mass can mix in with the fat without burning the leaves or the butter after the butter is strained you can put the water n butter mixture in the fridge and it will take out alot of nasty tastes and will make a clean green patty of butter

Well as a poverty-stricken, medically disabled person, I can not simply afford to throw anything away.
It may not have 'bag appeal' but, that isn't my concern, only that it work.

Perhaps you don't realize not everybody has money to invest in buying the best equipment.
I certainly am doing all I can on my budget.

I cut her down yesterday, had to cut up the cola's into individual buds so I could cut away the leafy stuff. I have about 12 buds hang-drying and about a 1/4 lb drying on a screen.

That should get me through until the next plant is ready.

I popped some new seeds of some unknown strain so I'll see what my next project will become. I will definitely need to work on the height thing.
I guess I let them veg too long? I always wait until I see the branches go alternating before I put them in flower.

On a side note, it looks like I may have some seeds in the clone. I guess my Nepali pollen found it's way to the flowers ;>}
Boy that stuff is hard to collect !
I have a tiny bit in an envelope but, not as much as I would have thought I would have by now.

I wonder what a cross of Master Kush/Skunk1 x Nepali will turn out to be ?
I just hope I will have enough pollen ready when those Ethiopian begin flowering. That is really my goal, to pollinate both a Nepali and the Ethiopian with some of the pollen.

Well at least I'll have some sort of smoke for the next month or so.
I have found that it doesn't matter much how potent the buds are when using my vaporizer. So even if this plant is not very potent, I'll still be able to use it in the vaporizer.
I plan on making some of that butter with the trimmings.
I was looking at the leaves under my scope and they have many smaller trich heads, all cloudy.

I wonder if Dr Seuss got 'Green Eggs & Ham' because he fried them eggs in cannabutter?

Harvest of my first LEGAL crop of Medical Marijuana.
While this first plant gave me some troubles, I finally harvested her.
Not being experienced, I think I still did good to get what I have.
I'm still learning and hopefully as time goes on, I'll get better.
I just wish the government didn't mandate I grow inside my closet !
It is so hard replicating nature inside an enclosed room.

Props mate!

It looks great to me!

my first harvest was a puny half ounce from 2 plants.

You should be very proud!

Peace-

i think you guys might be a little confused.

mostly clear partly cloudy, for a sativa high, mostly cloudy partly amber is for couchlock. when the trichs are all amber it means you waited too long and the plant is degrading.

Thanks, the clone has about half as much but, much better quality buds.
I have some new seeds I will be germinating soon, I hope they turn out much better.
I am trying to grow some plants for my personal smoke as well as trying to grow the longer flowering landrace strains.
I'm hopeful I can grow both together in the same closet.
Although I read that Indica's need a 12/12 cycle while a Sativa does much better with an 11/13 cycle.
Maybe that is why this plant took sooooooo loooooooong to finish ?

Now if only I don't screw things up while trying to cure these buds.
I figure I'll leave the buds on the screen for 3-4 days, then put in a paper bag for another few days. When I get my next check I'll buy some canning jars.

This plant is mostly Sativa I believe. It took 13 weeks to get this far !
Hopefully I cut it at the right time.
I read that some strains never go true amber, only clear/cloudy/brown.
I guess I should check my clone again to see if she is ready.
Although now, I believe some of the buds got dusted with my Nepali pollen so I may leave some of those buds go until the seeds are ripe.
That unplanned cross is of: Master Kush/Skunk1 x Nepalese Highland

OK, so I harvested this plant a few days ago and, while I expected more of a yield, I can't complain.
Here is a pic of the yield, bigger buds on left, popcorn on right.
I'm also considering using these vacuum bags instead of Mason Jars for curing.
I am able to open them each day just like the jars but, I can eliminate the oxygen from the space and the buds become a bit compressed together similar to brick weed.
Any one ever try these as suggested? Did it work out for you?

Haha. Perhaps the most painful lesson of all. My final dry weight tends to be 15-20% of my wet weight.

why do you want to compress it into brick weed? Let those beautiful, fluffy Sativa buds be themselves! haha. Just playing. personal preference I suppose.

what kind of final weight did you end up with?

lookin good.

I use these canisters for finish-curing and storage - better vacuum, zero odor & no compression. You need one of the Seal-a-Meal or FoodSaver vacuum sealers though (with an accessory port).

Well the only other plant I successfully harvest, ended up drying fluffy and seemed to turn to dust quickly. I cured that in jars as directed.
I've been using these bags for two days now and the buds look really good. Much better than some I've just dried out and rolled.

That looks pretty slick but, it would involve me buying more stuff I can't afford ;>}
Maybe someday ;>}
