whaddup yall...

damn I was in the other day, typed up a nice reply, and I guess never hit submit...doh!

Sack- yo man, glad I was able to impress with the vid :) more updates here soon...flowers are a' coming!

ha, jenn..nice one. I figured out the yellowing problem. Very glad I caught it now. The stems of those affected branches were coming off the main stalk at such an angle that they were putting extreme pressure on themselves and were trying to separate from the main stalk. Hooked them up with some good stakage and a heavy coating of plant glue.

Not much info on the J's GDP other than many say its a keeper. I'll see what I can do...

BC- somehow I missed both your posts brother. Must be these organic meds keeping me so faded :)

Its been nice and hot, plants are going nuts for it. The plants I was watering every other day are now needing it every day. With the onset of bloom, the watering is picking up even more. Last night, while starting the generator up at the well, the pull start rope broke. I'm in town today to find a replacement rope and have to get that puppy put back together quick. Have a few hundred gallons in the pool, but that won't last long...

Out of the red (for now)

looks like I've got some catching up to do...so many nice looking gardens! Luv it...

The la Nina, amnesia hazes, (these reek big time), and coral reefs are just about to make the switch. Might have to set up mini hoophouses over the hazes and la Nina. Those won't be ripe till maybe mid nov. Goo, at only a couple few weeks in is so frosty and smelling of pure gooness.

Thanks guys...it's good to be back. Just in time for the real show!

Paddi, the instrument is a Sovereignty 'inline harmonic' tube. I have a sick matching ash catcher, but my stoned ass broke the GonG piece. Lucky break, it's an easy fix.

icu- thanks brother...makes me happy to share. Fibbed a lil on my local tho...;)

he's actually 92,955,820.5 miles from SR.

He is on the surface of the sun and this is why his plants are so fucking HUGE! Age old grow, my ass.

Good day gang

Today I would like to discuss your soil recipes. I asked Tom Hill about his and this is what he came up with for one of his six foot wide eighteen inch deep containers -

25 bags black gold potting soil (1.5cf ea)

4 bags stutzman farms chicken manure (1 cf ea)

1 bag perlite (4 cf ea)

1 bag (50 lbs) bonemeal (steamed)

1/2 bag gypsum (aprox 1/2 cf)

Mix well, water thoroughly, let rest for 2-3 weeks minimum, transplant, and stand back

I like his recipe, it seems simple enough, the only downside I can see is the price, where I live a bag of Black Gold is twenty dollars, so his recipe would cost way to much for me.

So what about you guys? What would you say your recipe consist of?

Thanks - Jenn

Well I'll say it again, but it was explained in the opening post.

My soil came in dump trucks from a local landscape guy. Greenwaste compost, silt/sand, and random black 'dirt' mixed at about 60/20/20 per planter. Then one to two 4cf bags perlite. Some had coco, I'll be tilling in more next year. Dry nutes include bone, blood meal, fish meal, alfalfa meal, greensand, soft rock phosphate, glacial rock dust, oyster shell lime.

Amounts were kinda winged, but I used nowhere near 50# bone meal per. Are you sure that's correct?

Filling planters with bagged soil is a lot easier on the back, but if you're doing any kind of numbers, it's inhibitively expensive. I'm actually surprised TH does it this way. Thinking he's got $350+ in each planter. I realize it's miniscule compared to what these plants yield, but you need not spend so much to get good results.

U used a 3:2 ratio of roots 707 mix and roots potting soil. Next time around I weill add more perlite and/or rice husks to make it a lighter mix. I think I am back to the idea of replacing my dirt next year. First off, I am going with 400 gallon pots next season, so I am probably going to dump what I have into a few massive food beds and make a new mix for next year.

Don't think I've seen rice husks...commonly found?

You should look into some coco as well. I've seen exceptionally good growth in those planters where it was added.

i am doing the same thing.....using 400-600 gallon containers next season and taking all this years dirt and building a huge raised bed veggie garden.......should be great......

roots soil mixes already have a lot of coco in them. i am going to have smartpots made that do not have that much of a larger footprint than my current pots... spacing will be an issue, I'm going to have to widen up the spacing somewhat.

I just saw 12 Blue Dreams that are 12'x12' in 600 gallon holes. they will probably produce 12-15llbs each. my god. next year is going to be insane.
