Most of the strains we have are "Vendor Driven" right now, If we pay $4500 for a LB, we need to retail it for 9 to 10 thousand, just to even be close to a profitable mark-up. My other retail endeavors usually come with a 150% mark-up. As well the 7.35% tax is included. Members will get an additional 10% off.
Ya have to remember that a LB should cost a grower no more than $1000 (a lot less usually) to grow. If they sell it for no less than $4000 they are getting a minimum 400% mark-up (usually a lot more)....I am not that greedy. When our own supply allows we will not be forced to buy as much vendor product, and I PROMISE our prices will come way down!
If ya come in and say you found us here at IC I will give you an additional 5% off.

wtf $35 a gram!!??? screw that. from now on, i pass on anything >$15 a gram, and tell them not to charge so much.

$35 a gram is a little steep but for going to into a store and not some back alley waiting to get jumped the price makes up for it in the end.

I'm sorry, but it definitely isn't especially when many other high end stores don't charge more than $15 or $20/g for their top shelf without requiring a membership.

I'm sure it's only priced like that to get you to assign them as caregiver but consider what that adds up to - $35/g -> $120/8th -> $980/oz -> $15,680/lb. Even if you assume they are paying the highest wholesale prices out there that's a 250% to 300% markup. I wouldn't suggest doing any business with someone trying to charge that even if it is just a ploy to up their plant counts. What's the member price?

Good luck tomorrow Marshmello hope everything goes according to plan. $35 a gram is a little steep but for going to into a store and not some back alley waiting to get jumped the price makes up for it in the end.

Yep, good luck and have fun Marshmello!

After perusing several caregivers and dispensaries, for $35 a gram, I'd expect a gram of something great and a bj (not from Mike, tho, cause I like ladies :)) . Sorry Mike, but why so expensive on the medicine? I think you're a great addition to the scene cause you're setting people up with cheap docs, but $35 a gram is by far the highest price I've ever heard of for medical or street prices. And please don't get me wrong... I understand the risks and operating costs you face, but other folks are pulling it off offering quality for $14-$20 a gram. Maybe you do offer some strains for $10-$20 a gram, and that just hasn't been mentioned here yet.

We have Delivery available to as far north as Platteville.
Call me for more! 303-953-9231
Mike

You just did bro.
Mike is here in this thread so can explain the price.
I will definitely have some money when I go down there and will see what they have to offer.
I guess I can sign over the Caregiver status and become a member there.....my only thing is distance as I am probably a good 60-65 miles away from them.
I know there are some other outfits up north FTC/BLDR/LNGMT that I could go to, but it's just as far to Longmont or Boulder for me.
Six in one, half dozen in the other.

980 a zip..15,680 a LB.... ill take two please! :2cents: not

im glad everybody is now starting to see the big picture! back on track

We do have strains from $8.00 to $35.00. If you take and add the 10% membership rate along with the 7.35% to the tax man you are left with 29.70. a Gram for the "top shelf". The majority of our stuff is in 25 a gram.

However when I have my own Sour Diesel on the shelf, I never sell it for more than $400. a OZ. This Fall it will be even less.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. Maybe the vendors prices will come down, maybe they'll find better vendors. Or they could reduce their costs. But no matter how you slice it, if his statements above are true, his markup really isn't out of line with any other business endeavor. And if you don't like the prices, service, quality or whatever, there are other places to go. I challenge anyone who thinks they can do it better to get out there and do it! We need more of you out there upping the ante.

Does GreenMtn offer any free samples to people who come in and pay for a doc's visit to get recommended?

It would suck to drive 4 hours and come home empty handed

prices are high because of all the middle men.. a+++ bought from the sorce grower is low $3k ..when you buy from a sorce and need to sell or vend to another place or person its $4k.lb and so on. the market will balance itself in the long run!

i wished i lived in Co, but im stuck living in one of the neighboring states, hopefully more and more states go medical. as far as $35 for a gram, i can get that here on the streets.

Call me we could have our driver meet you if needed.

That's cool...I have an appt. set up with your office tomorrow at 1 and I plan on assigning you as my caregiver and that would "make me a member" and qualify for the little breaks & what-not?
I'll have plenty of questions for you tomorrow as well as some money to sample some of your meds.
I saw an earlier post that asked if you had tasters in a vape or something along those lines? I would like to sample some stuff but either way, I WILL be making a purchase. I've been on some schwaggles for the last 2 days and it is not cutting it by any means.
I look forward to meeting you........and your Meds. :joint:

If you drive any kind of distance or not, Mention IC Mag and we will give you a free 1/2 Gram of med with a Dr visit.

I posted just before I saw this post. Agree there's no reason to get into business if you ar not going to make a profit... otherwise, what the hell is the point to waste all that energy and take on the risks. I also agree that prices are currently being driven by vendors and $4000 is what I hear the going rate is roughly. That is very high, yet this is a very immature MMJ scene, so I expect vendor prices to go down once their risks are better defined by the state.

In the meantime, get as many patients as you can and grow yer own for <$1000 a pound. Sell it back at HUGE profits for $10 a gram ($4500 revenue per pound at $10 per gram). I can't imagine an operating dispensary with prices above $15 a gram in 2011.

You are right there with me Brother. And they all lived happily ever after :)

(concerning $4500/lb) That a disp. is having to pay that is just a JOKE.

Turn it around. That's $10/g wholesale. While I don't condone $4560 a # either, if a vendor knows that a dispensary is going to charge $30/g or more for that product, wouldn't they be stupid to charge any less? If you think retail prices don't figure into wholesale offers you should think again.

The fact is that hundreds of california dispensaries make very comfortable net profits at ~100% markup or less, with higher overhead and more competition. If you can't make a good profit at 100% markup in a growth market with a business that has minimal staff, stocks 15 products and turns them over every 1-2 weeks, you're doing something wrong.

"Retail markup typically runs between 30 and 40 percent, depending on the industry segment" (about.com). "retail margins can vary from 14% (Costco) to 65% (Abercrombie)" (allexperts.com). That stuff isn't gospel but it gives you a general idea. Keep in mind that 100% markup means the same thing as 50% margin.

I'm not trying to single out Green Mountain, I've talked about this stuff before. But patients should at least understand the basics to be able to make an informed decision.
