Well I don't know what the best way is but I can tell you what I'm currently doing... I have 10 Sensi NL that I vegged for 4 weeks in 1g pots.. Then topped, transplanted to 3g pots, and vegged for 2 more weeks before going to 12/12... I'll let you know in 2 months how things turn out..

I grew out my sensi NL last summer, 45 days veg, no topping and they really came out wonderfull.Extremely uniform growth, one big straight cola with afew side branches and a very srtong lemon, uzbeki afghani reek.Every female out of 9 was basically equal in potency and simply loaded with oversize resin balls. It took about 70 days to really finish and I used the males to pollinate my Alpha cut. These seeds are growing rather vigorously outdoors right now.The cuttings from these plants(the NL) were topped and grown out last winter and were really above average potency and yield .It was well worth the $ and time but it was a wee bit strong for me.100% couch and remote, however it is a fantastic remedy for sleeplessness and seasickness.Have a wonderfull day. :joint: :joint:

ive seen DP's oasis i.e. northern lights #2 grown from seed.

left to grow naturally - very bushy, stumpy plants ( about 3.5" from topsoil) although slightly taller phenotype is evident. post 12/12 growth is negligable. the smell during flowering is not intense. lemony aroma, good smoke.

i would say training/early pruning after nodes 4-5 wouldnt do much harm. the leaves get big and fat... lower growths are not impressive. i cant imagine them being too branchy after pruning.

flowering to 9 weeks brought favourable results.

sucks about the tents benji-- I had two hydrohuts kill all my plants and then a hydrofarm habitat did the same- fuckin' bastards. I got the homebox now and it is all good. My seeds cracked and showed small tails after about 20 hours in warm water- I just put them in soil- so hopefully they will come up soon. Good to hear Sensi's is good cuz Joey Weeds probably has some of that in it. Sensi's is #5 right?...

I grew HGF NL in 2 1/2 gallons of FFOF with organic AN Hornby nutes and had a huge yield.

Sensi's NL is a combination of their best NL, not just #5, and Dr. Atomic's NL is a take on Sensi's, I think.

hey wunderkind- got any pics of the hgf version?? or the oasis? Has anyone heard of NL90?-- I have NL90x Pure Haze from hothouseflowers and the northern lights they used is supposedly from 1990 before it had more indica bred into it...

I am currently running northern lights and bull rider, both big yielders, northern always finishes first, bull rider few weeks later.. Its a good fast grower.

I've only grown Nirvanas version of Northern Lights and they each produced one huge cola, weighed 16oz each wet, 4 of them under a 400w hps. So hard it could be used as a weapon lol. Well chuffed for my very first full grow back in 2001.

Tried them again recently but was using lousy reflectors and they stretched so bad I had to cut them before 12/12 and they looked weird. Not a good idea imo to top a single cola plant unless you have to. In 2002 I grew them a few times from clones but they never looked close to being as impressive as the seed plants. Maybe scrog a mother if you want to grow them using clones but with the seed plants I'd leave them uncut if you can.

Hard dense nugs in one massive cola are a worry in late flower, stay on top of the humidity control and watch them carefully.
