The joy of smoking cigarettes!

I smoked for about 5 years until last sunday, quit cold turkey and havent looked back...i never want to have one again, i just fight the cravings with strong will power.

I did it out of boredom at work...they would let me take as many cig breaks as i wanted, and i took full advantage.

Will power, something I need more of. My dad is an ex-smoker and says will power is key. I too have taken advantage of smoking at the work place.

My pops had a heart attack (no arrest) and quit cold turkey. He smoked a pack of Pall Mall no filter for 60 years. Although he has symptoms of advanced cardiovascular disease, his dock says pops emphysema isn't as bad because his lungs are free of filter particulate that makes lungs bleed when coughing.

Filters are arguably as unhealthy as chemically processed cigs IMO.

tried cigs many times, never got any buzz, or any high, i did have a mouth that tasted like ass! the only time i got a nicotine buzz was from TONS of hooka, which isnt as bad since its like vaping nicotine and whatever flavored molasses on it, not many chemicals at all, no burnt tobacco, if you want any discernable "high" id say try hooka, if anything if you dont like it, it makes a sweet bong with a gigantic bowl!

Ps. if you dont flip your hookah or you just let the coal get to close and it actually starts to heat up the tobacco to burning point it tastes horrible!

PPs. nicotine buzz- dizzy, lightheaded, if severe a slight nauseous feeling, the feeling of alcohol in your stomach if you have overindulged, one toke from a joint of sticky icky > 10,000 tobacco "highs" nothing really favorable in tobacco

Thanks for all that shared. But no one has described, what it's like from the 1st puff. what does it feel like?

peace

It feels thick. There is resistance when you inhale and exhale the smoke. It feels sooooooooooo good. That's the part I miss--the thickness.

Quit 10 weeks ago. So far, so good.

I have a theory about cigarettes nasty addiction. There is a radioactive isotope called Radium in cigarettes that has a half life of 20.3 years. Now nicotine is cleared out of your system completely after 2 months so why is it that smokers start again after years of not smoking? Its simple really your body is used to the radium once you smoke it it stays in your system until it decays into harmless substances another words it takes 20 years for it to degrade half way and then in 20 more years half of that will be degraded and it continues in ever smaller amounts meaning it is inside you, You push up daisy's the daisies are still radioactive. So after a few years say 2 or 5 this radioactive chemical will deplete and cause withdraws that are different that nicotine perhaps even unconsciously uncontrollable and people who don't even want to smoke start up again. Only the strong minded can take it. Its the only thing I can honestly say in my knowledge explains this phenomena. They can use a radiometer to see if you have ever smoked cigarettes and long time quitters that I know have told me it took 20-30 years to really feel a difference in health benefits from quitting after 10 years of smoking. Nicotine is a stimulant with physical cravings if only someone could study the effects of radium to substantiate my philosophies. Ok bored yet? im a treasure chest of knowledge and deep theories pm me if you want to talk on a deeper level about anything. I am quite eccentric you will find.

Ive quit for 6 months after 40 yrs of smoking. Im at my buds and we smoke a fatty and grab the bottle of Jack for some serious porch-sitting. All of a sudden I got his cigarette in my hand and Im smoking! Didnt even remember picking it up. I chainsmoked all afternoon, then was freaking out because I fell off the wagon.
I refused to believe I smoked. Never happened. No way. The craving was more than usual but no big deal. Why should it be, I didnt smoke....
The mind is truely funny that way. If you create a suggestion and reinforce it, it will become fact in your mind . Auto suggestion in hypnosis is the same thing.
And I'm still not smoking.

Many people go out to dinner and have an alcohol beverage, then a smoke, and finish off with a cup of coffee. 3 soft drugs when you analyse it. Sounds rather harmless, but the 3 items in combination are like taking the equivelant of a hard drug, when you look at how they affect you.

Watch out!!!

I bought packs of cigarettes at every trip to the shop for about 3 weeks after quiting because that was what I used to do when I smoked. Never smoked them though..

The joys of smoking lets see.......well smoking them ofcourse can be pleasurable, especially with some booze, how about an early death. Majority of commercial tobbaco is grown with radiactive fertilizer, and the tobbaco plant is especially good at leaching toxins from the air and the earth.
