NHL hockey chatter...

I will add this though...

If anything good comes of this, hopefully this will be the push that the NHL needs to finally allow coaches a "challenge" to bad calls, like the NFL has. If you lose the challenge, you would forfeit your time out.

I mean, there is no hockey fan, player, coach, etc. in the world that can watch that replay and honestly say that was the right call for the ref to make.

lets go sharks baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! presidents trophey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya that was a brutal call gans. in the replay it is a clean stick check. but at game speed it looked on the hands. the refs get it right 99.8% of the time, sucks when they get it wrong tho

movingtocally

my predictions:

East, no upsets:
Boston over Montreal
washington over ny
nj over carolina
pitt over philly

West will get a little crazy:
San Jose over Anaheim
Columbus over Detroit
Vancouver over St. Louis
Calgary over Chicago

In defense of upset picks:

Columbus-Detroit: Goaltending, goaltending, goaltending. Mason should win the Vezina, and Osgood shouldn't be in the NHL. This will be exposed come playoff time, I believe. That, and the jackets play the redwings incredibly well. To say they "match up well" would be an overstatement, but short one game, they played the red wings up to snuff all year. The Jackets have one of the strongest defensive cores in the league, and they are getting healthy at the right time. Klesla and Modin, who has a cup, will play Thursday. And the Wings will probably overlook them.

Calgary-Chicago: As an American, I always give the Canadian teams the slight edge come playoff time, even though it's true Calgary has looked like dogshit for about three weeks. There is nothing like playoff hockey in Canada in sports; the crowd just will not let the team quit, ever. It's insane. Chicago, while immensely talented, is too young, and they can't back check for shit. Too many forwards with one way games always gets exposed this time of year. Calgary is loaded with vets with tons of playoff experience, they have the best leader in hockey, and a coach with more cups than ring fingers, even if he is a massive prick.

I think the Caps will win the cup.

Predictions in quote. Ill worry about round 2 when we get there.

I agree with an other assessment about CLB. Mason is a monster (though he did lose me a fantasy championship with his 6 goals allowed game the other night grrr).

I would love to see a Chicago/Pittsburgh championship..... I would also love to see Chicago end their Cup drought.... Khabibulin has been playing great all year and the Hawks are getting hot at just the right time!

Oh I'm not saying Chicago is going to win it all, or even that they will get past Calgary, I'm just saying I hope they make it to the finals and win it. I love playoff time!

i think its going to be funny when you look at the hawks bench. some of the kids they have arent old enough to have a beer after the game...lets see em try to rock a playoff beard

oh btw....

LETS GO HAWKS!!!!!

KG, we might not like each other for this first round, but we can be friends after.

Havlet gets sucker punched off the face-off which kick starts his game and he scores the game tying then game winner in overtime!!!! How's that for Karma?

What a game!

Suprise Suprise! the B'Hawks are lookin really good, showing some play off heart ( its only the first game!! i can only expect more great games after last nights performance). Dissapointed : i watched the red wings vs blue jackets and man the first period was so good and then the following two sucked! i was actually expecting a better game after the first.
The sharks got pwned by the ducks, after that game i might have to reconsider the idea that the sharks can win the whole thing. The sharks have the points, and the talent but do they ahve the heart and after seeing the highlights of the first round game i was not impressed( i wasnt expecting a sweep but i did expect wins @ home). The sharks had home-ice advantage that the San Jose Sharks earned, only to see it taken away on the first game of the first round! hahah kinda funny, on second thought the bruins look like they could go all the way

Yeah playoffs are so exciting to watch! Players leaving it all on the ice, intense hitting, it's do or die! Looks like there will be some chippy series too, I wanna see the next Boston-Canadians game too, there's going to be some brawling there....
