Standaman - sounds like you've been doing a lot of reading which is good.
A single pot DWC could be an idea, it's easy to set up, and easy to manage. The only PITA is a constant supply of good (preferably RO) water, but with only one tub that's less of an issue for you - try local aquatics/koi places for RO water refills.
You could knock a bucket up, including air pump and heater, for about £20-25. One of my first grow attemps was in a bubbler, and it really doesn't get much easier - I even started the seeds in the net pots, in a small pocket of perlite within the clay pebbles.
Ryu does make a good point about stealth - hopefully the noise from a single bubbler wouldn't be that bad though, no worse than fan noise once you're more than a few feet away.
The 400W lamp you've picked up is a bit hardcore for a space that size though. Even forgetting trying to cool the bastard, that's a seriously OTT 85W/sqft. A more efficient lamp size would be 250W HPS for that footprint, and easier to keep cool in a small box. If you end up buying new, you might want to consider a 250W CMH instead - can have the bulb and ballast delivered for just over £100 from the US.. I've not found them anywhere in the UK yet! Been pinching her and mild LST when she was younger so she got multiple heads which i like, gives me more cuttings than i can ever use lol.
Topped 3 of heads yesterday to try keep control.
Just nursing some more clones i've rooted so i got next batch veg'd for when the other 7 finished flower, they just coming to 4th week in flour, not topped or trained so they gettin pretty big now, which is nice lol.
In coco for now but after quick trial with bodged up DWC i doin a total switch to DWC when the rest in coco gone.
All pics are a good week old by the way.

I was thinking about a UK shopping thread.. somewhere that we can all contribute finds, whether its DIY materials, nutes, lamps, carbon, etc. It could be good for UK peeps to have a reference point for finding the best value *whatever*, maybe hints on UK versions of US products that are forum favourites too. A lot of the DIY articles are US centred, so maybe the thread could also contain alternative parts lists for some of the most popular DIY articles?
Anyone think this is a good idea? Or maybe there should be a list in this thread?
Open to suggestions, it's all just ideas!

Hi all.
Thought this should be the thread to post up on as im UK based. Nice grows going on in our green and pleasant land .
After a seeded crop last year ( 'fraid that's what can happen if you take your eye off the ball ! ) I'm hoping for better things this time around.
Closet grow in soil using envirolites. Going to go with these.......
Second time for me with a Mandala strain. I grew Hashberry 3 summers ago but despite a 10/10 germ there was not a female among them ! Having said that, i was well impressed with their genetic vigor and had i been breeding/crossing, there were several that i would have been very happy to use. I'm hoping i have better luck with F/M ratio with Satori .
Black Domina is another new one for me. I prefer to have some Fem seeds to run alongside my regulars in case of any balls ups or bad luck ! Anyway....

The bubblexdsd smells like oranges when in the spliff,cant get over that orange smell,you can spend ten mins or so just smelling the spliff....fuckin mint dude...This just might be a keeper.I chopped my kalixdsd the other day man,shit the bed!what a yeilderShe came in at around 1.5k wet.This plant is something else,the only discription is,first fruit then you get hit with a smell of cat piss
She took 11 week but should have gone one more,but was chopped due to new room in progress,thats going to be cool,will have two 600 watters maybe three, with 8inch fans in and out and all the gizmos to make her run super tightWill get some pics of it soon.Keep it green uk

The DSD male was a fierce dude and that Kali is my keeper from the start, not too surprised you got a beast outa them, stoked to fuck for you mate. Look forward to smokey reports after a while to cure.

Too right is does McSnappler, tried so hard to get a cal orange bud female when I started growing - failed due to learning curve. Took me a while of killing seeds before I stopped killing them

Hey BB, sucks bout the rot man. Ain't had that yet but got some leafspot that's kicking my ass, worse than spider mite. Got a break coming up soonish so hard labour with the hand sprayer can stop and I can get back to watching ladies flower.
Maybe just top em a couple of times if humidity is munching your chunkiest buds but i'm guessing that the new toys you mention are to sort it. Anyway, sure you got it all in check. Good luck with the new setup, hopefully you only lost a Q.

Even 12 weekers are really pushing it at the moment to keep vibrant due to the spot, gagging to plant some loooong flowering sats to educate myself after hols and clean up.
Vert really got me interested, especially the chance that Sativa stretch could be greatly minimized, SuperConductor got some nice comparison pics in his 600w vert thread.

i'm currently vegging up some plants for this years outdoor fiasco. Got some autoflowering HazeXHPlantXskunk#1, some Early SkunkXNL#2XJamaican Pearl going ATM. They are going to have to go outside in a couple of weeks-ie before Mrs Shoestring comes back from abroad
they are under 1000w MH most of the time and outside in the garden hardening up for a few hours each night.
