Ali was known as a "pretty" boxer, but he wasn't throwing cream puffs out there either.

I saw that Foreman fight as well....It Ali fought Tyson like that it would be curtains for Iron Mike.

As was stated earlier in the thread, Ali was a brilliantly smart fighter, a boxer's boxer who also had a good knockout power, a rare combination.

Here was a rare breed.

56 Wins

5 Losses

37 Knockouts

I know video links aren't aloud here, but this one deserves a look....

I have to vote for Ali. However, if Ali misstepped or made a mistake than you can bet if Tyson hit him Ali would go down. But like others have said, Tyson has to hit Ali, which is not so impossible like some make it out to be. You ask any of the boxing experts and they all talk about how Tyson's punch was a lot more technically sound than most people give him credit for.

Anyhow, assuming no one makes a mistake, Ali in 8 rounds or so. Its not likely any man could have put Tyson on the mat in his prime so it woulda probably taken a few rounds of Ali pounding away before getting a killing shot, imo.

Tyson would knock him out then eat his babies.

Like JJ said, Mike in his prime was an "unstoppable animal"...not a human being. Anybody that 'knows' boxing will tell you that Ali's finesse (not knocking his power though) would simply not be able to match up with Tyson's raw n relentless style. Would love to see someone try rope a dope on Tyson..their skeleton would be in shambles. Tyson's greatness in a large part was due to his craziness.

I suggest you take a look at the Foreman fight....George didn't start out making grills.....He threw those clubs of his with bad intentions and Ali worked him like a 9 to 5 with the rope-a-dope.

i remember an interview with foreman many years later, when he returned to the game a different man, loved by many including me. he was perhaps just spinning a tale, but he said he hammered away at the rope a dope round after round with those big hits of his, until he couldn't do it any more ... then ali said, "is that all you got, george?" and foreman said he thought, "yeah, that's it" ... and it was a quick trip to wierd street after that LOL :D

If, I had my wish...:dueling:

I would rather see a fight between: Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson..(in their prime)...what a slugfest, that would be....:wallbash:

I always thought of them as being similar

body punches never seemed to bother Ali?

Ali went 12 rounds with a busted jaw and lost on a decision to Norton. He let Foreman use him for a body bag for 8 rounds until Foreman was too exhausted to pick up his hands. Old Ali would handle Tyson with ease. Early Ali would humiliate him.

Ali over anybody: ...when it comes to hype, before the fight. The man knew how to sell boxing tickets. Those days are gone...~sigh~

Ever see some of the stupid shit Tyson has said in youtube? He says something like "I wish y'all had children so I could stop on their fucking testicles so you can know the pain I feel"

Haha, yeah. "I'll fuck you 'till you love me faggot."

Anyway, I think Ali, no contest.

would of been a good match up, no doubt. Tyson, at his prime was a serious hitter...Although Ali could take a punch too....Still going w/ Ali though, he was a true boxer...

I watched these fights as they all happened .... what you think Ali was never in there with someone who hit hard ? Tyson wouldnt have had a chance.... float like a butterfly and sting like a bee baby.

well, if i would say ali, IF he survived the first 4 rounds of fury mike throws at ya, after the 1st 4 round of not being effective the fight would settle down to a pace that would suit ali, with him keeping that jab in mike's face at a distance all along setting him up for right hands that would further frustrate tyson and play into ali's hands with mike swinging for the home run and ali boxing beautifully and holding mike on the inside. imo ali would either stop mike in the later rounds or win a unamious decision, IF he can survive the 1st 4 rounds of fury.
