You're gonna have a shitload of stretch. Just thought you should know :)

Well I never topped it or anything and I'm familiar with Kali Mist going nuts and growing very tall. I don't know what much else to do besides keep the light about 11-12" away. This is my first hydro grow :( seems like no matter how much I read or gain info I screw something up along the way. :badday:

I did however flower the plants with my mh light bulb for the first week in order to help with the stretching. I also pinched their tips and kept the light close. They are about 31" now and I started flowering them at 12". They have gone a bight higher than double in size in 4 weeks.

Yeah I have learned a lot from screwing up. I think next time I'll FIM and go easy on the nutes. I will also flush earlier and cover the grow media from light to rid of algae. All this stuff I didn't know when I started, but I know a lot of the flaws now.

Another thing I noticed that might be beneficial to other newbies like me is that my light reflector in stock format is more of an upsidedown U shape rather than more of a V shape which results in more light to the lower branches. As soon as I unwrapped the reflector so to speak the light started to reflect to the lower parts, this is another reason for my stretch.

All in all I'll just have to remember these.

#1 FIM after 4 healthy fan leaves show up.
#2 Don't nute right away or use startup enzymes and cal-mag.
#3 Flush every 2 weeks or whenever the water is changed all the way.
#4 Closely monitor pH and ppm levels
#5 Make sure no light gets to the grow media causing algae
#6 Keep the area clean to reduce mold/bugs etc.
#7 Air flow and temp steadiness for water/air and also good humidity for vegging and less for flowering.

The hardest part is learning how to use the tools available. I just wanted to make a quick list for anyone in the future that might read this post and feel a bit confused when starting out.

The biggest rule of all seems to be patience and the one closest to it seems to be lower expectations, since having huge expectations the first time doesn't seem smart :)

Looking good! Keep up the good work.

Thanks :) they really are shooting up so I had to trim the lower branches early in flowering and tie the mid branches upwards so they're supported on the main stem. This has made those mid level height buds really grow well. I've decided I want to do a 2 part harvest where I collect the top half first and allow the lower popcorn buds to flower further since the plant is so tall.

I didn't forget about this thread. I'm at day 55 now and I think I will start to flush because I'm pretty sure they're ripe enough :)
