While I do advocate self-regulated free trade - what needs to be thought about - is how a more open policy will effect ICMAG - will it leave the site open to be roasted by LEO's and the judiciary - or will they understand that - and leave us alone ? - since the magazine itself is not involved in any risky pursuits - and cannot be held responsible - if its members are - because that's their choice - quite a few of us are doing that already - by growing a plant or two -

The question is - could we become the Craigslist of all things canna related 🤔 - and not risk the attention and injustices of the law? -
As a follow up to my prior post, Gypsy, I was wondering if anyone has considered actively soliciting donations?
Certainly if a letter was drafted for all to read, explaining a genuine maintenance need, there would be some quite willing to step up. Some of us are adverse to having an electronic trail attached to us, but perhaps if you had a DBA that was not so obviously attached to ICMAG name, that might lesson the negatives regarding this. Local addresses for checks would also be and aid. Just my 2c trying to help. Sometimes ^ being culturally frank gets misunderstood.

I will explain the need.. besides our huge database of "old" data that makes icmag what it is today, our server storage needs grows constantly at a rate of about 1 GB each day just from picture uploads, come summer that will probably end up being 2 GB a day. Once every few months we are hit with a bill increase so we want to take measures before we run out of money and the forum can't be saved. If anyone wants to work with us to support us by other way than patreon, we are open to trying to find a way to make it happen. If enaugh people decide to throw some change at our patreon, we would be doing great.
That being said, would a cheaper support tier there help in any way? I can understand some might not want to spend much but maybe a few dollars would be ok for some?
Certainly better to offer ideas or solutions than just spread negativity like some do!

Crazy. Quite a statistic. That may be a lot to handle, but it is also accumulating some very valuable experience for cannabis growers. ICmag definitely has potential to become an internet encyclopedia. Depending on the course of humanity, people could be referencing our posts and pics in 100 years. Potentially priceless information.

P.s. that brings up an idea for me (maybe more appropriate in the other thread asking for ideas to improve): the search function is the heart of the website, at least to me, and the average newbie who wanders in via Google search. Maybe making a tutorial for advanced/specific searches would be helpful to pin somewhere. New people coming in almost always make a new thread and get fewer answers than if they had instead searched for the 25 threads that already exist on the topic, at least to start. There are some really amazing old threads here, and they should be revived/kept alive

We have multiple seed banks that advertise here and some good places here in the States to get genetics through without the Customs nightmares.

I would think that a co-op between businesses could be very beneficial. When the seed bank customers are checking out, they could have an option to donate .50 cents or a dollar ??? to the ICMAG server fund, and get a link directly to a grow forum that our VETERANS could post growing information and answer questions specifically for these new menbers.

This would build our outreach worldwide and provide specific information to growers of all levels. I have been searching for a place to do my next thread at for preparations to a grow and combine all research information I have studied and posted.

This could be combined with the no reply option I mentioned earlier so information doesn't get diluted. I'm disabled now and my budget has really taken a crap, but I study everyday and could help in that way.

I would give a couple of well established vendors here in the States an email if our hierarchy here finds merit in the idea .

We got vip lounge, maybe we need purgatory, too! :joint:
I thought that is what happened to TOM HILL?!?
OOoops, better watch myself, I may have uttered a Banned word.

All kidding aside, I think we have (more than) enough moderation.
Interesting how a site that is full of rebels, can seem so anal at times.

Nuff said by me .. Time to get back into the Rabbit Hole! Best To All .. :smoke:

I'm never particularly comfortable with all the elitist stuff....though i see the commercial reasons for the premium section.
But is there no lower time limit for membership to become a premium member? you can just join and pay some dollar and you're straight in? - i think maybe a year or something might be a good idea...
I noticed someone posting a commercial clone list in there who joined the site in late January ! - there should be a way of stopping people in the biz using it as a cup-price way of running a biz rather than paying for a vender forum.
