ThaiBliss, I know you grow outdoors a lot. But I think you might find this interesting. I have some Z's growing. Before this I did an experiment that I always wanted to try. So I used a 1000 watt HPS for the entire plant, but on one side of the plant I supplemented a 400 watt UV. It was a Fem GT. But the calyxes were bigger on the UV side, and the Thai influence was also more visible. I'm doing the same with my Zamaldelica. It was actually two different high's. The UV I used 6 hours a day on it.

I've always wanted to try supplementing with a strong UV bulb. I grow inside with a combination of 400 watt sodium, and a 400 watt metal halide for significant blue spectrum. I do it in a 3 x 3 foot area which is pretty intense lighting.

What specific 400 watt UV bulb did you use?

Thanks,

ThaiBliss

btw - about my prevous post .. surely you should raise lights during grow , but just to keep minimum distance until heat stress pops up visibly
the last week is about letting the plant know the sun is movin away behind clouds to start winter.
its about beefin up terpene cintent that oast week,,,so when i say dint raise the lights until last week ..is relatively meant. in absolute sense you probably gonna need one metre of headspace from second week of flowering is my wild guess

Crazy fool total agree I am using CMH bulbs sourced from industrial supplier with no coating on the bulbs to reduce UV output and everything you said I have noticed in my plants.
The only downside is you get sun burnt in about 10 sec if you dont use sunscreen when working in the grow room.
Tangwena

I was under the impression that CMH could also put out pretty high levels of UVC when unshielded?

If you're getting sunburnt in 10 seconds be very very very careful. I'd even go far as to say you might want to not work with lights on.

UVC will give your ass cancer quick.

Ok quick little update on my own (sorry about lights the plants are hard to move in 15 gallon containers):

Big plant on the left (now tied down) is Zamal. All in week 5. I'm now week 7. Will take some updated shots after I chop my C99 tonight.

Some different phenos. Plant on the left I had to chop at week 6 as balls started to form all over. No big deal, I knew it was a problem with the line.

Two plants on the right I had early on pegged as my keeper based on crystal content of pistils in veg so I tossed clones in the same pot. It has a remarkably strong licorice smell. Probably the smelliest plant in my room and I have some fairly smelly plants in there, some of which are near done (and this one might be halfway if I'm lucky).

OGE you are right its a gamble for sure, I always lube up, long sleeves hat just like going fishing, but the buds and resin are outstanding compared to my HPS bulbs. So I will just have to be careful.
Nice plants you have in your forest there, you should get some good smoke soon.

Concerning the Aspirin- I have tried it once and it ended up in a banana disaster! So good luck with it...

It was a Hortilux 400 watt. I had heard somewhere that if supplementing UV it should be 4 to 1 HPS. I had a 1000 watt HPS. I used the UV 6 hours a day. One thing I did notice, was it was obviously faster growing than the other side. Interesting experiment that I had always wanted to try.

Dear AceHaze, are 100% sure you had the banana's from the aspirin? How many/much aspirin(s) have you given? This is a very interesting fact to know if you want to make feminized seeds yourself, something I want to do in the near future. Today I was about to order CS, but then a friend called and after that I've forgotten. Perhaps I don't need it no more.

Kind regards,

Siever

Hi, Siever!

It was in 06, when I still was a newbie, I have to admit. It was one of those myths someone told, that you could raise the female to male ratio by adding Aspirin to the water. It was quite uncontrolled-we just put a tablet in the 5 Liter Container. Maybe this was a overdose and that caused the bananas, but the plants without Aspirin showed no nanners. We didn´t clone back then, so it´s still possible, that they threw nanners due to genetics.

CS is probably the most reliable way to make female seeds. I think, it´s better to make female seeds out of plants, that hardly or don´t go hermie when stressed (like adding Aspirin) to minimize the risk of hermies in the offspring.

Good luck with your project!

Peace
Ace

Before the times of colloidal silver Aspirin was recommended for reversing your plants. I've never heard of it being used for any other purposes but I'm glad to hear it worked.

This herb gets better and better the more you cure it. Last saturday I went to a birthday party with 2 joints, and returned home with 1. We were 6 guys smoking and couldn't finish it. I only took a hit about 1am (I hadn't smoked in one week but my friends smoke everyday), and we were all blown away. It lasts and lasts and returns in waves...I went to sleep at 7am and was still crazy.

Strong spicy/floral mango/carrot smell. It burns your throat, lungs, everything...what I can recall about its effects, in order, and remembering I almost lose it a couple of times: speedy but no heart racing, then muddy, then extremely clear -everything looked so real thet I almost throw up-, big head pressure (at one point I felt water was falling off of my head. I had melting ice near me, falling near my feet, and almost had a heart attack for the impression )

I don't think I could smoke this for 3 days in a row, not even 2, it's a fucking strong herb.

That is a really nice review of this strain lovely pics!

Gadzooks! That is a gorgeous plant. Looks so much like the Thai I grew long ago. I got delayed again on this strain... again. Seeing this #6 selection grown big is spectacular. Nice job finding it Waldgeist, and beautifully grown Dog Star. This picture makes me think I made a mistake not growing this strain next.

:respect:

I'm green with envy,
