last year i start rdwc..
1)in my first grow i got 450g with 800w in 105 days..-6 plants-
2)in my second grow i got 350 with 600w in 76 days..-12 plants-

my thought is g per watt per day.. and not g/w..
cheers

i can't get passed .9g/w

its like i've hit a roadblock in my ability to grow

true also, but a lot harder to measure XD

I'm with you ursus... but I've reciently read this article about
Vapor Pressure Deficit... Humidity & Temperature vs the plant.
I've been 'off' according to this article.. it isnt easy for me to
acheive these balances of humidity and temperature.

http://urbangardenmagazine.com/2010/07/plantworks-part-1-humidity-and-vapor-pressure-deficit/

I'm reconfiguring to a tent ATM but trying to get 70% RH and
75F in the clone/veg box.. I'm guessing I need a vaporizor because I cant do it with a portable AC running in the room, at the same time, drying the air..

Dont know if you have this nailed down but my clones look happier, even though I havent reached best acceptable VPD levels. Could be your missing link.

The new calculation everyone should be going by is Grams per watt per Kilo Watt Hours.

Meaning if I am vegging for 3 weeks on a 400w, then I go to 1000w for 8 weeks flower..

Or I go right to flower from 12/12 with 1000 watts for 8 weeks straight flower.

See the difference in the potential grams per watt?

21 extra days at 18/6 running a 400w = 151 KWH extra bringing GPW lower than calculated.

Enjoy

2 to 2 1/4 p per 1000, 1.5-1.75 p per 600. stadium, vert bulbs, ebb & gro an other similar diy systems. alot of variations to increase or decrease final yield. good topping an trimming lowers. 2-3 ft plants. 1 gallon an 2.5 gallon hydroton filled buckets. 8-12 plants per light depending on what system im running, 2-3 footers.
highest weight to bucket, 5.5z's off a 1 gallon bucket best to date. 9z's off a 2.5 gallon.
lucas ratio with organic additives an some flower stimulants. I'm all about gh synthetic nutes an organic additives. taking 6-7 grows to dial current systems in. Best to date for me. 3x4 for 600, 4x4 for 1000

all things being equal 1gram per watt is a good marker and used by me and alot of peeps

what else is there except grams per week per watt

grams/ft^3/Kilowatt-hour

Takes into the energy used, and the volume of physical space used.

Was your grow 100 cubic feet and vegged for 2 months with a 10 week flowering period, or was it 65 cubic feet, vegged for 1 month on a 8.5 week flowering period, what kinds of lights?

grammes per Watt per square metre per hour, with the time measurement being total grow time rather based on units of energy used.

Of course it still leaves open to debate the weight. For me it would have to be well trimmed properly dried bud only, not fan leaves or stems.

I think room size is irrelevent. Grams per kwh is the best measure of efficiency IMO. There is a big difference in efficiency between a SOG with no veg, like 64 plants under a 1000w light giving you 1.5# in 60 days, and 4 plants vegged for 45days under 1000W then flowering 60days for the same 1.5#. The SOG is only 15 days away from another 1.5# with less power used. Grams per kwh takes all this into account.

g per m². try a 600w light on 100 plants on 4m² with 3 weeks vegi or more. you'll yield 1gpw so easily it'll make you seem like a growing god

with more area you'll use your lights much more efficiently

try 1gpw with 800g or more per m² with 1 or 2 weeks vegi - THAT is fucking hard

thanks for all the comments guys but i think we have gone off topic, let me kinda rephrase the question..
for people who grow dwc under 1000 watt bulb, what veg time am i looking at with a medium to high yielding 8 to 9 week strain to hit 2 lbs with 6 plants?

It is all going to depend on your strain and your skill in "reading" your plants. I currently have two different strains in the 5th week of flower under a 1kw hps light. One strain literally has donkey dick size colas, the other strain (5 plants) looks like I'll be lucky if I get a couple of zips off of the entire 5 plants.

nice and simple answer for ya i grow trees in dwc and basically i flip sativa at 2-2.5ft and indicas at 3ft. but thats me but theres some numbers for ya to go by

pound per 1 k lamp is not hard.
9 plants at 112 grams each;

that's 9- 4 oz plants
(gotta be a good yielder 4 sure w/veg & pruning)

9 plants under 45" parabolic is easy

I got a 112 gm plant without CO2 (durgamarta)
among a group of other strains....

what do you mean 1g/watt myth? i tried to search for that and got results on everything else. if 1g/watt is not a realistic goal for an indoor hydro, what do you think would be realistic?

25 oz per 1kw, no co2, 16 plants in 5in net pots in a 4x4 tray with lid-self made sprinkler system in between like Pirate did. Veg no more than a week if they have seen any growth from being put in 3" net cups since cloned, old Dumpster strain with crazy smoke. Lucas formula with advanced big bud and overdrive, change water weekly and flush system, all ro water.

I agree, but have to somehow take into account the power used while the clones rooted, and the lights the mothers are under that provide them. It'll be less, but probably going on the whole time the flowering is happening too, while the vegging of the 4 plants stops when flowering starts. Then a couple/three weeks into flower you can just take some clones for your next go. No mothers needed.

Each has it's advantages I suppose. I've never tried the SOG because I don't want to have that many "plants" as they would be considered. Even though it's just a hobby grow in a closet, why not be safe.

I think the electrical efficiency over time (total power in) is separate from space efficency, which is a different measure, for which the 4 plants would be much more efficient (no mothers, far less clones rooting) Though the sog will probably always produce a bit more if all else was equal.
