well i hope this thread doesnt turn into a flamer....i was being very serious in posting this and was hoping for a contribution of info and not a bunch of stoners jumping in the thread to make a smart remark in hopes of getting some laughs...

the companys name is "Pro Energie" and the model name on the side was "greenEKonum" and it was writen exactly like that with the EK being bigger than the rest

its understandable that something like this would cause a lot of flaming, because it seems impossible....

but, hey, a few years ago, if someone said i can run two hoods off one ballasts, flip flop style, everyone would of said your an outright liar....

ill check.....

when i was at the store i look down:

me:
hey whats this big thing it wasnt here last time

guy: its a generator....electric

me: what do you mean electric?

guy: you plug it in the wall, then you can plug in fans, pumps, lights..ect whatever you need up to 4000w and it will only consume half

me: so wait..i use 4000 watts of electricity and this thing willmake it so i only get charged half that ?

guy: exactly

me: well im gonna write the name down and check this out on the internet and ill get back to you

he then proceeds to show me where the company name and model name were

so now im here because i didnt take any pics and was hoping someone here heard something

EDIT: the store is closed for the next few days....until the 3rd :(

Honestly, it just sounds like its a typical 240v to 120v step up converter. You get half the Amperage, which may have been confused for power(due to the sales pitch aspect). This way he can sell a unit.

Like others have stated, physics dictate a need for energy, to create more energy. a multiplication can occur, but usually they are at an exponential rate(essentially uncontrollable explosions). If these units were really alive, tons of larger electricity consumers, besides growers would be on top of them before us small scale guys(think megawatts, not kilo)

I'm all for something that can drop true energy consumption in half, without sacrificing the use of electric products built around a predetermined set of wiring and capacity.

I'm going to buy a bunch of these and take over my city.

I'll plug one into the wall.... I'm using 2000w but generating 4000w. Then I'll plug two more units into the first one. Still using 2000w, but now I'm generating 8000w. Then I'll plug four more units into those two. Still 2000w from my outlet, but now I'm generating 16000w! Then I'll plug eight units into those four.....

I'm gonna be rich!

I'm sorry to tell you its impossible
you cannot get more power out than you put in

The underlying assumption was and is that, just as mass remains constant unless more is added or removed, you can't get out more energy than you put in. This was eventually demonstrated to everyone's satisfaction, and came to be known as the
First Law of Thermodynamics

i understand where your comming from, and i feel the same way...but ive seen it but not seen it in action...this week i will go back and look more, take a whole bunch of pics, and maybe even a vid....ill post these later this week in hopes that some of you guys can explain this better than the hippie at the hydro shop...

i just think for that much money, the size, wieght, and just the look of it, it has to do something...i mean i dont know too many ppl who drop the same amount for a hyundai for a grow room ornament

Really?

Reminds me of the old story of the kid who bugged her parents for a pony. Her dad finally got tired of the whining and moaning and decided to teach her a lesson. So he filled the garage up with horse shit just before christmas. When the little girl opened the garage door and saw all of the manure she shrieked with joy. "Thank you, daddy! I know there has to be a pony somewhere under all of this horse poop!"

reminded me of the guy that wanted to run a genny w/ it's own power...like a power loop, and still try to draw off it....

it can almost work in theory...not really tho.

Come on guys this is simply not possible. A lot of people think if you run 240 that you use half the watts but you dont. You guys are very confused but listen to old pink. The guy at the store is just an idiot.

It sound sketchy to me. I'm not an engineer or an expert but I'm pretty sure you can't export more energy than you input. This technology would turn the world upside down if it was available.
sounds sketchy to me also , that would be a world changer , dont waste your money peace

Sounds like a chinese industrial power inverter to me , have seen some shite AC units under a similar one , will only save electricity with pumps and fan motors as part of a large computer controlled system , nothing to be saved on lights.

The Mitsubishi FR-F740 frequency inverter drives from Mitsubishi Electric are designed for the special needs of pumps and fans. These Mitsubishi inverters can significantly enhance the energy balance of pump and fan applications - particularly in the low-speed range and in low-load operation, where energy savings of up to 60% can be achieved. Additional savings are made possible by Mitsubishi Electric's innovative OEC (Optimum Excitation Control) technology. This system ensures that the optimum magnetic flux is always applied to the motor, thus reducing losses. The result is maximum utilisation of motor capacity at maximum efficiency.

if that thing worked you could link a million of them together and supply the whole world with 2k watts. that would be amazing.
