Peppermint...no disrespect but are you sure about CaO2? It has some serious solubility issues.
If you follow this link http://www.solvaychemicals.us/static/wma/pdf/1/6/2/9/4/Soil_Groundwater.pdf down a ways there is a chart showing a very slow breakdown.
It does not appear it would help a short container grow much at all and even in the big pot long grows it looks questionable.
Plus isn't it carbonate that buffers pH? When CaO2 breaks down you get Ca and O2. You would need some Carbon and an extra Oxygen to develop a buffer...and you would actually rob oxygen from the soil to do that.
I could be wrong but I do not see it as that useful.
Plus Tom fights high pH...so some H+ from the H Peroxide probably also helps him control pH. Would not work if you have lower pH...or would lower it further...no?
