The growing large plants, outdoors, thread...

Status
Not open for further replies.
starting with a picture of a plant i just finished cleaning out the interior of, pulled all the mulch back and got a good look at the stem structure for the first time.

seedlings, looking for the best one. they have genetics afghani/skunk/haze and i have already culled about half of them due to lack of vigor or imo poor structure.

what my mulch looks like, random plants and weed whippin clippins from around the area, also anything i clean out (alot) from the interiors of the plants. thats a 300 gallon pot and the stem is quite small, but is supporting a 5.5 x 5 girl that i anticipate to get at least a pound of some of my favorite smoke. since transplant shes gotten less than 50 gallons of water and is as perky as ever.

im off to go take more pictures of some other stuff. bbiab.

first shot is just a picture that i liked how it came out.

next is a sensi star that just got her last cleaning. considering her small dimensions, i think i have grown her in a shape where i will get a decent amount of bud. notice the mulch is pulled back and i use perlite in some cases too. although it will be completely phased out after my winter crop. (discuss?)

then we have a flower starting to form on an indica that is new to me.

one of my larger plants, sourd x ssh i believe. shes startin to show some boobs. i know ppl have much larger, but this plant has still yet to hit the 200 gallon of water mark

yosemite - sorry i haven't got back to your question, i will catch up with u soon.

id like to discuss silica a bit, as strong cell walls are key to large and or well structured sturdy plants.

Any recommendations for the upcoming cold weather? I live way up in the very northern US, and we have a very short growing season. Is it crazy to think I'll be able to finish the 8-9 week strains out in my greenhouse if I'm willing to run a space heater (or any other suggestion ya'll may have) out there?

Fillthepotmore...fantastic looking garden. Best of luck on the finish.

It looks like your wire support goes higher than most. Would you mind sharing your thinking behind it, if it is working out like you thought and how you did it?

Since you mentioned it, GGL... A Silica foliar to double up on the silica in the Brix Mix will help with resistance to high and low temps.

Don't get caught in a place where you have overwatered before it gets too cold... but i don't think this dip is going to be too extreme... If anything it will help trigger anything that hasn't yet. I've got one strain that could use a little push toward flowering if my timing is going to be right.

im not sure how well silica is absorbed as a foliar. im looking into it now. its not by any means absorbed as easily as most things. i will water with liquid silica every watering, it will be the last thing i give my plants as a drench before i flush.

edit: de/ricehulls both contain generous silica also, just another advantage on perlite. (figured that needed to be more clear, assuming some people wouldn't know/assume that)
as much as i hate advanced nutrients i will be doing a side by side with rhino skin and a couple other slightly cheaper alternates soon.

also with the availability of rice hulls or DE in california in addition to the expensive price of perlite, i would think more ppl would be interested in discussing this.:bump:

if u you look at crazy composers recent ash burns using silica, kinda wild how rigid it is. anyway. :jump:

whoever posted: Cool pics but you do realize my garden is much larger than yours right?

on my feedback. please understand that it doesn't tell me who wrote that msg. you could have at least signed off.

considering ive just shown individual plant pics, how the fuck would you know that your garden is larger. im not saying it isn't possible. but you just sound like an idiot. thanks for the green dot though, weirdo.

edit: lol, now that i have 50 posts all has been revealed, my prediction, correct, trinity gold, acting right up to par. "much larger" with no proof.

fillthepotmore: although u grow large plants, you bring little to the table regarding conversation for obvious reasons. you cant even address me publicly, immediately proving your lack of ability to communicate. sure , u got the biggest dick, but do you know how to use it? address me directly, as the post you neg rep me for saying only "leave" gave more actual intelligence than all your text combined. so cmon superman, care to talk about anything while your big pics upload.

ive met a half dozen dummies who can grow plants that big. care to discuss anything this year. or just counting on the awe?

u crack me up :blowbubbles:

For the discussion. Green Sand is a decent source of slow release silica. I've had great luck with it over the years. Not to mention a little potash and great water retention.

Everybodys plants look great!

Y so antagonist Ms try comb? i mean ggl. although fill needs no defense from me he has shared plenty over the course of this very long thread. and i have learned a lot from his progress pics this season as well as last. you call out tg for his watering of rootbound 300 smarties and then show a pic of an in ground plant a fraction of the size. where is the relevance?

Ill chime in to say the negativity is not appreciated. This one of the only threads, that after close to 500K views is pretty much stayed nice nice. There is no need to try to derail a gigantic love thread.

That being said. You know you can grow huge plants. We've seen you have pictures of huge plants. That means there is nothing to prove. there is no one to impress. There is not a pissing contest here.

so please please please chill out, as NOONE CARES, and you are just inhibiting the loved filled natural flow of this thread

i hold no hard feelings towards you. I know its hard to find your place in the world (or these forums). So if you could just stop the monkey animal brain shit flinging. it would be great

thanks

Hi GGL, It's easy for me and every one else here to judge the size of your plants by looking at the smart pots they're in, the size of the stalk you took a picture of totally gives it away.

edit: lol, now that i have 50 posts all has been revealed, my prediction, correct, trinity gold, acting right up to par. "much larger" with no proof.

The proof is in the pudding. If you check out the pictures, there are things like large digger pines, 7' Deer & Orchard fencing etc., that my plants can be scaled to. I use the same TENAX fencing at some my gardens as you and know that they are 2"x2" squares etc.,..

I don't know what your beef is but maybe you should click FILTER next to FillThePotMore's handle...and see what kind of AWESOMENESS he has contributed to this thread. Give thanks for the GENERATOR OF SOIL!!

The discussion is in the first 150 pages or so, every one has pretty much laid down their technique and now we are just keeping each other informed via pictures..Why do you consistently try to come out to our side of the fence and derail this lovely thread?
u crack me up :blowbubbles:
And you disappoint this whole thread..Big love and respect. TG
.

I used Azomite and Green Sand as my Si sources..The rice hulls you are so in to are almost a guarantee for termites so I leave them out. Haven't ever used DE.

greensand and azomite i also use, but i feel like that amount of silica they allow to be taken in the one season grow window is very limited. although you are reusing your soil, so nothing is going to waste, i just feel like maybe they plants are only getting (just a guess) 24 percent of what they could be getting if it was given more directly. just trying to figure this out based on what ive been reading.

If you don't feed the troll it will die.I promise, then I can go back to lurking this thread in peace.

+1! I don't post in this thread because I don't grow outdoor, but I do enjoy a good read, and awesome photos and the great vibes in here.
