Hey bro - didn't know you snowboard - I have been riding for over 20 years now... less so these days but I still get out a few times a year.

From what headypete has told me Bonsai had some personal drama going on that took him off the board and out of growing for a little bit - nothing bad (legal) I think - hopefully he'll pop back in soon.

The stash box came from Michael's - I had to replace the hinge and put on the lock myself though.

Blue Thunder is a Reeferman strain from back when he was in Canada - Haps had some impressive grows of her - so that's the pictures you may have seen around - Reeferman no longer is making these (got rid of the Blueberry sativa mom) but Sagamartha has a version which is a bit more pricey... Seedbay had some of Reef's BlueThunder up on special yesterday but they seem to be all gone now... also seems that Sag is out of stock on this at the seedbay...

Alrighty - so here's some pictures randomly from my gallery... of one of my favorite strains of all time, the burmese pure, also from reeferman... from a few different grows...

from seed

from clone...

got this one to purple up a little bit thanks to heavy flushing..

Hi suga, LUI is just getting clipped now at 88 days! Still some left on the plant, too. Interesting you put up the color change pix of Grapefruit. The LUI is showing wicked red/lavender/purple from the Grapefruit in her. So many colors....This pheno is not my fave so far.....I'll have to see how the buzz is but the 75 day bud is just not kicking ass. I have some 80 day bud almost cured up enough, and the 88 and 90 day harvests may be much better. Hardly any smell to this one, good for some I guess, and the yield was quite good.

Nice idea with the NL and LUI, but at the moment my garden is jammed. Perhaps when I pop the NL I can put a nice male in the flower room for the pollen.

Still have to compare against the other two phenos still flowering.

Bonsai is fine, no legal issues, but no where to grow, plus dialup makes ICMag a painful experience. He is going through some heavy life stuff now that he needs to deal with and straighten out...only he can do it. Don't know if he will be back here.

suga your buds are always coated in trichs man  crazy, i didn't know you boarded, that's awesome

couldn't tell you anything specific about the burmese, i just know i've had that exact flavor before. it was strong and very distinct.

i feel dumb for killing it, but who wouldnt! :D regardless i've got plenty in the garden to keep me busy

glad to see you've got some freshness  take it easy

heady - the grapefruit I grew was from female seeds and is not the same as the grapefruit used by Legend's in LUI, which is known specifically as Sweet Pink Grapefruit, or just SPG for short - it (SPG) is a clone only strain in the Vancouver area of BC and has served as the basis for a couple of strains such as the Sweet Tooth (SPG x BB) line from Spice of Life

I've smoked the SPG but never grown it - she's a nice smoke though - tasty as anything out there - short lived high if a small amount is smoked - but if you smoke a big fatty it can really really put you in another place.

The Grapefruit I've grown is femaleseeds version and is based on C99, which makes up at 75% of the cross... good smoke also - but an entirely different high and flavor all together.

rooted - word bro - so many strains so little grow room, right? anyways so the burmese was reminiscent of the fighting budha?

hey sundown - thanks for stopping by - I still have a few pics and a few nugs of that ol' nl x c99

good to see you stopping bye and thanks for the kind words

I am bored so maybe I will post more pictures of a plant... hmm maybe cannabis :chin:

ICE

admitidly not my favorite plant - but nonetheless worth some bud porn.

stuff actually isn't half bad - the bigger buds that is - the smaller buds which she made alot of are pretty leafy and crappy - may have been due to going from a 400 watter in early flower to a 150 for finish that she got too leafy for her own good - I was very busy and could have trimmed more - I guess

anyways I don't like the taste - it is very widow - reminds me alot of rosemary and kinda bitter medicinal - my friend thinks it tastes good so maybe it's just me :chin: - but the high can be very hypnotic intense if alot if smoked - still not my gig... but overall can't complain too much it is crystally enough and like I said going from 400 to 150 mid flower may have caused alotta the leafy airyness to it.

a note about the camera my pictures are taken with

a note about the camera my pictures are taken with

Ok - so thank you folks for the kind words - you are probably thinking this dudes got some slick digital SLR camera with great lenses and what not... well nothing further from the fact...

all my pictures were taken with the lowely $115 at the time Canon Powershot A410 and the aid of proper lighting and a $8.95 walmart tripod.

If you want a decent little point and shoot digital camera that also happens to great for taking bud shots and other macros the canon powershot a400 series can't be beat (410 - 430 - 440 - 450 - 460).

What makes the canon a410 so well suited for bud photography is it's manual super macro mode which has a focus range down to 1cm.

The next model line up - the a500 series has a 5cm min focus range - this just won't do for taking super macro shots of trichs up close.

Canon has a long tradition like many other camera makers of putting some pretty nice functionality in manual form on their low end cameras - and the 400 series is that low end - the 500 series are more for the mainstream users so ease of function replaces more manual functions.

In super macro mode and in general plants look better when the lighting is properly placed and chosen.

Some of my best pictures are of the plants in the cabinet under 6400K t-8 floro tubes - just inches away and above the camera providing shadowless light.

with the tripod just right I could get the camera lense within inches of the buds and then user optical zoom if needed to go in further.

That's how these pictures were taken of the oregon 90

I've also used warm white bulbs which give a different effect - generally what I use for dried bud shots. These were taken on a end table under a 24 watt warm white cfl.

You'll note that I have chosen a dark matt background which makes for better photos. Sometimes I would take a pair of black pants and hang them behind the plants then use a shop light with a CFL in it as top lighting to take pictures like these.

so there you go look for the newest model the a460 should be around $115 (still)and get a cheap (or good) tripod and you'll be set.

Oh and also figure out the self timer and that way you can press the button and then give the camera time to stop moving before it takes the picture for the ultimate in shots.

hey sundowner - what is your favorite of JW's gear? I saw mari posted some pics of a friends nl x afghani from JW that looked awful sweet.

Shanti's definetly does speak for itself - I would really like to give a pack of his super silver haze a run as I have heard nothing but good things about her.

Take care my old friend and drop by often

 Hey Suga: Thanks for the photography tips. I'm one that always thought some of you guys must have really expencive digi cams. Never thought to use a tripod either. I have one laying around from my old Olympus. I'll need to see if it fits my digi. I like the timer idea too. I guess I'll need to break out my cameras owners manual and study up before my next grow.

I've been asked this a million times over the yrs...Or, it seems.... I've not got to try all his crosses, but the afghan x C99 is a nice one, very nice....It's right up there with the nl99...Never ever got anything from Joey, that wasn't great imo... There has been others, who prefer his work too, and they are comparing it to a tremdous amount of weed....

For me, and for what i use cannabis for, I'd go with his NL, Sugarbear.. No joke, it's an f2, but if you find a special pheno, with the round leaves, which don't even hardlly look like cannabis leaves... You've struck gold my friend.... This is of course my opinion, but the f2 NL Joey has, does have vigor, and the smell is low , and the dried cured buds have a lemon pepper smell, and a lemon to hashy taste... I'm not that good at describing smells, and tastes, but that should get close.....

Good luck getting anymore of his stuff... Like always, it sells out fast, so I'm not the only person, that's found that JW produces great gear.........

I can't pm yet, but later on, i'll be able to after so many posts.....

Best Regards, and Stay Safe

Sundowner, aka holydiver

p.s. Take a good look at the Medicine Man, by Shanti... Man, when you go, and see what it's made up of, your gonna want it, and they say, that his ssh is the one for that soaring high....I have no doubts about his genetics either.... jUst thought, i'd add that sense Shanti's name was mentioned....

He's a down to earth dude in my book, just like JW... I like these kinds of people, and they'll stand behind their words....

Peace, and Safety
