Stocking the Plantry: Chucks, Yucks and a Few F*ck-Ups

Wish I had some porn to show.

Big troubles in the plantry. Switched to GH coco and silica - just about killed everything. Not sure which (maybe both) was the culprit.
The coco smelled like chemicals when I hydrated it. The silica left a ton of residue in my mixing jug. Now the coco has been rinsed 4x and blended with my used coco and I switched back to Protekt.
Got a harv coming (MM, Bodacious, TE) but its piss poor by anyones standards.

My cuts aren't rooting either - got no clue why.

SLH x (BB x C99 F2) F2 beans are about ready to harvest. No pic, but momma is a beautiful and manageable NLD plant. She smelled like lemon sherbert in the beginning. Now she smells much like SLH but sweeter.

Lot M69 F2s are ready for the seed tent. Very WLD so I don't think the elusive skunk of old is them there genes.

Popped some fems - White Diesel, Destroyer and Hawaiian Snow. Gotta be sure to get some bud next round.

I put my cloner away an went back to oasis plugs an aloe pre soaks. Does the job for now. That size should work if ya go with smaller pvc for the manifold.

Got me on cameras too man, I'm sitting on a Rebel SL1 we got like almost 2 years ago an haven't figured it out yet. I take better pics on my cell. It's sad lol.

So, I made a rookie mistake. When I started back up, I just mixed at the same rates that I did all last year. Well, for whatever reason, my tap went up 0.4. Ive been feeding at 6.3. Now I have to put 2x the ph down in to get to 5.8/5.9. I also decide to up my micro/bloom to 5/7.5. Im thinking that now that the air is exchanging 2x/minute and the plants are getting a bit more co2 that they can use the bump. We shall see.

Gonna skip the cloner for now and buy a humidity dome. If I cant get shit rolling with that, Ill be flummoxed.

Lets see... Im only holding 3 plants right now. GG, MM and the SLH x (BB x C99 F2) mom. Bodacious, PHaze and NTOG are gone. Only the best, right? Always replaceable with better.

Gonna get some of the spray Art has to make my own fems for that future situation, got hit by a sausage fest over here, threw down fourteen more beans, now I got way too many babies in the 2x2 lol, males need to show already.

You talkin about the GH Cocotek bricks? I throw mine in a ice chest to flush the hell out of it, definitely needs a good flush til the runoff stops looking like old-man pee.

Ya - the 11 lb block. The runoff looked like cheap, nasty greasy spoon coffee. I couldn't believe how much fine sediment there was in it - and chunks of the outer nut itself.

The grow is still in creep mode. The effects have been long lasting. At least the leaves aren't all dying off.

DIY dome has produced 2 rooted clones so far. Not great but a shit ton better than 0.

Got a few incidental seeds from MM, TE and Bodacious. Germ tested all 4 (including the F2s) and all but 3 seeds popped. 2 of which I was certain wouldn't because they were very lightly colored. Success!

Did I report that Ive got Jack Pine and BOGs original LSD on the way?

TE still doesn't have a knockout flavor this round. MM is as pleasant as always. Bodacious came out stellar - super pie-eyed-ness. If anyone is sitting on any Bodacious seeds from RedEyeds release, pop em! You may find something really nice yet.

I was running it. Let it go to make space for chucking. Best yielder and a frost whore this round, decent stone - but the flavor just want enough to keep her.
When I F2'ed TE, I kept beans separated by mother as well as mixed together. Ill be able to focus on her progeny when the time comes to revisit the strain.

I think the problem will fix itself when I have plants that are in only the super rinsed and used coco blend.

CloneBucket - Numbered for multiple cuts. 12th hole is being used for aquarium thermometer wire.

Results - 11/12 (doubled up in 1 collar) - 8 days with no fuss.

Been having a problem with PM. Lots of treatments to try, but most are messy or stinky and are only symptom relievers - not cures.

Did some research and found articles on the use of UV to eradicate PM. Its been used in the cut flower industry for some time, as well as in water and air treatment. Handheld units are either expensive, cant be angled/tipped or are just under-powered... So I built my own.

It cost as much as the cheapest available unit I could find. Mine is 3x more powerful (on par with standard UV units), can be held at any angle and my build cost included UV safety glasses.

I bought a deep domed terrarium light, a 9w UV bulb, an standard bulb to 2-pin adapter, a corded ballast and tongs.

DIY UV unit.

So far, so good. No new PM. I did 'burn' some leaves on a plant that I had the light pointing at for toooo long. Oops.

SLH x (BB x C99 F2) - This is mommas virgin twin. 1st 2 pics are from about 3 weeks ago, 3rd is about 1 week ago. Be choppin around 2/21.

The SLH x (BB x C99 F2) F2s and incidentals are all viable. I popped a mix from all of them, including 2 'maybe-they-will-maybe-they-wont' seeds and 9 'should' seeds. All 9 of the fully matured seeds popped and are being sexed. I didn't label any as they were only intended for a germ test. 1 is showing BB leaf mottling.

I have 30 packs of 15 SLH x (BB x C99 F2) F2 seeds ready to send in for freebies.
