Sour D 2nd Coco grow

T

TribalSeeds

I hear she burns easily and likes to hermy late in flower. Anybody grow this strain in coco?

DAY1:
275 PPM

R/O Water 0PPM aerated and room temp 69
200PPM CNS17
75PPM Sweet/Liquid Karma/Silica

Rinsed w/ R.O @ PH 6.0 then pre charged/colonized coco w/ 100 PPM Cal/Mag, 25PPM Epsom, 100PPM PBP, 25PPM Sweet, Silica Blast, Great White, Aquashield
Clones are in 1.5" RW cubes, so less than 20% perlite was added to the mix so I can water more often. I also added a layer of perlite to the bottom of the cups above the drain holes.
4' 8 bulb T5 with 4 center lights on and outter lights off. Light is 1.5ft away on day 1. Temps are too low (69) but I dont want to give them too much light yet. The clones are a little more stretched than I'd like, so I wanna get the light down soon.
Room RH is 50-55%. We're in a 4x8x6.5 Secret Jardin tent. I have two Lumatek digi ballasts I'll be using in the later stages with the MH and HPS bulbs. The oscillating fan is off and the 6" exhaust fan is set to the lowest possible speed. These look pretty fresh so I dont want them to dry out. I also dont want to mist them if I dont have to.
The stems on these clones are like toothpicks

Day 3

Day 3

The girls have perked up a bit and are reaching for the light. Ive bumped the nutes up a little quicker than I wanted to though. A few of the fan leaf stems are turning a little purple. The girls got a 350PPM feed last night with no signs of any burning. Im still under the CNS17 recommended dose and I dont think they are getting a full dose of Cal/Mag yet. Im adding a little bit of Cal/Mag to todays solution to see if that stops the purple. Its at about 450PPM, double the CNS17 from the first feeding. Ill probably be at the recommended dose by end of the first week.
I dont think its been too cold. The temps have been 70-75 since lowering the light to about 1' from the tallest (10") plant. Ive had to turn the oscillating fan on low. The RH% has been around 40-50% since. I dont notice any dryness or anything so Im sill not misting them. I did have to remove one fan leaf from the bottom of one of the plants due to something on a leaf that I coulnt identify. It looked like a crystal build up. it wasnt powdery and the leaf was dried out.
When I first inspected the clone at the shop it just looked like a folded over leaf due to overcrowding in the trays. Its the top that was hidden that was suspicious. I dont think its anything to worry about though. I plan on going to 18/6 by the second week and will try and put off any organic insecticides until I have a dark period. Ive never had any luck not burning a plant with the lights on.

Day 5

Day 5

The girls are sucking up a full does of CNS17(550PPM) and it looks like they are loving it. The new growth has darkened, the older leaves have lightened up and everything looks really healthy. Not much more purple since getting up to the full dose.
Temps were up a bit today outside. It got up to 77 under the lights today, so I pulled them back to about half a foot away. I also turned the exhaust fan up a little bit.
The ladies survived a mini Neem oil bath. I used a little bit of the Safer Brand 3-1 Garden Spray.
The Hydro store was having a 20% off sale today, so I picked up some Sea Mag and a bottle of Pure Blend Original for $20. Ill try the Sea Mag at the end of the first week. Directions show first foliar feeding begins once every other week starting week 2, (alternating between Cal and Mag) but I wont be spraying any nutes on the girls. Ill be using the Mag as preventive maintenance for deficiencies instead of esalts from now on. I picked up the Original Blend so I dont have to use the sweet for veg. I will keep the Karma level low while using the Original.
I know these baby pics are boring but, stay tuned for rapid growth and plenty of bud porn!

I know its only been a week, but Ive spent a lot of time with my girls. I had a feeling I knew exactly what they wanted for Xmas.
The RH% dropped below 30% early on Xmas Eve, so I decided to give them an early Xmas present since they have behaved so well for me.
We had a Vicks Humidifier laying around the house, so I put it inside the tent with the girls. RH% went up to 60% in the tent and 55% under the lights.

Day 8

Day 8

Day 8: Week 2

My girls seem happy with the decision to give them a humidifier for Xmas.
The roots are trying to bust out of the cups! Ill be transplanting sooner than I thought... I think these roots are thicker than most of my stems.

Day 10

Day 10

Ive been letting the girls get used to the MH at 250W, but it seems like the T5 is putting off a lot more light, so Ive already switched it up to 400W.
The humidifier is now on a 15 on 15 off schedule. Temps have been right on 72-77 40-50% RH.
They just had their first training session, they were bent a little the other night but havent really straightened out yet. I plan to tie them down and hopefully get them under a screen in time to fill it out before flowering.

Im trying to use up the nutes from my last grow before they get old, so I was pre charging the coco for my transplant with the full line of PBP and all that. The more I use CNS, the more I like it. I think I might not use any additives with CNS on my next grow and see how that goes. Its definitely alot less work! I had planned to use PBP, CalMag, Hydroplex, Sweet and a free bottle of Big Bud I have for bloom, but now Im considering going through with CNS Bloom and Ripe.

Thanks bro. Hows the SD coming along? I was looking at your posts to see if you had a journal here. I noticed you seem to know a bit about the different SD cuts. Can you tell what cut this is? I just grabbed them cuz it was SD

I transplanted a couple of days ago and gave the plants a good watering with an increased amount of Karma for a few waterings. They were watered in very good the first 2 days in the new pots, but Im giving them a day and a half between waterings since to let the roots fill out the new pots. I increased the amount of silica they have been getting since the LST. The stems were very thin and bendable, but after a few higher doses of silica you can really see them fattening right up and getting hard.
Im hitting just under 1000PPM and plan to keep it here throughout the rest of the grow. I gave them a dose of Mag after the first week and planned to give them a dose of Cal/Mag after the second, but I pre charged the coco very well before transplant, so I dont think they will need any. The foliage looks really healthy and all the leaves are reaching out and getting wider. The twisting leaves they had when I got them has corrected itself. Im not sure if Im going to top the plants or do any FIM, so far I have only had to remove the one leaf.
Temps have been decent with the lights right on top of the plants most of the time. RH has been up due to the heavy fog through the night and early mornings. Temps during the day have been warmer and humidity has remained at about 45-50% with the run off in the bottom of the trays. There are a few roots starting to stick about a half inch out of the bottom of the new pots now, so Ill have to empty the trays more frequently. Either way I dont think I will need the humidifier anymore. We're still on 24/0 but its supposed to get up to nearly 80 outside tomorrow. I am planning on shutting down the lights for four hours and giving them another neem bath.
I have been letting them get used to the MH at 400W about 2ft away at night after peak energy hours, mostly to keep it warmer in the room. I plan to increas the MH to 600W for the first week of flower to see if that helps reduce the stretch even further.
Now that they are nearing their teens its so hard to get the girls together for a family photo, they just dont fit in the shot so easily anymore. Usually I have them a bit more spread out but I crammed them up for these shots.

Nah not boring at all...thats alot of growth for five days!

Thanks! The first 5 days of growth was nothing compared to how they exploded as soon as I bent them over. All the lower growth has exploded! The stuff at the bottom looked worthless when I got these plants. I was thinking I was going to have a problem with how stretched out they were.

They look good TS:).Is this the cut or the IBL?

I think its Cali Connection Original Sour Diesel, but I didnt ask. They have a bunch of CC stuff at the shop I went to, but they also have a bunch of other stuff there as well. Ive heard people say they can tell by the leaf, so I was asking Beago because it seems like he knows a lot about SD.

I thought CC had an ECSD male they used with the Sour OG female. Im not really sure, as long as the trichs are amber it should work well...
I didnt grow out SD before. Ive only done Indicas in the past. I thought it would be fun to grow a Sativa. The tent might not hold them for 3 more months though!
Feel free to post up some of your SD pics here, or anymore info you might have on SD. Thanks for the info.
