Just b carefull with the bleech as even a little to much and you could easily burn your roots....I prefer the super hydrogen peroxide as it adds co2 as well as cleans. Bleach is cheaper though..to each their own.
What dosage of hydrogen peroxide would you use to keep roots white and kill pathogens?

On a live plant... I dont want to mis quote so I suggest using the search function as the higher grade peroxide will burn not only your plants but your fingers up as well.
dont want to give you the wrong answer and I havent used it in 2 yrs plus running.

plant #2 white roots poking out of drain holes. mix of mostly new white roots and old dingy roots. both plants approx 6 weeks in containers, recently recovering from a drought 2 weeks ago.

plant #2 dissection, took the liberty because i figured no one else would. as you can see the roots inside aren't even recognizable mixed in with all that black and brown coco and worm castings. certainly not bright white as everyone seems to think for some reason. i can't be the first guy to ever open a rootball?

ya and you did it all wrong.

You are supposed to slowly use water to wash away the soil particles.

leaving the entire root structure intact. u can also just slosh the roots in a bucket of water and gently, will take some time either way.

I see white roots inside, What I don't see is full roots. Just the cross sections of freshly cut roots.

Obviously if you cut them in half, you won't see the freaking roots bro...

lol

I'm gonna post a pic of some roots, just to get this thread back on topic, these aren't even THAT sexy of roots, just a good example of the benefits of MULCH, roots all the way to the surface of the soil... WHITE roots.
(so much for white roots being a "myth")

roots. so mysterious.

Bro, your plants are all GHETTO FABULOUS!!!!

fuck off

i can't remember the last time i've had bugs in my grow. such unhealthy unhappy plants yet no pests. odd...i came back from vacation to find mold on everything yet nothing killed my plants. just dead leaves covered in mold still on the plant but no actual mold or rot in the plants. no gnats, no spidermites, no russet mites, no aphids. no pests whatsoever. but i'm doing it wrong. lol.

i know how much you guys like to formulate whole stories based on one picture. this should be helpful to you.

Ever since I switched to a coco mix never going back to soil. I use slacker aeration formula by botanicare with sea blast nutes by earth juice and some extras :) the 3.5square is going into a 2gal growbag. These are some clean healthy roots!

added some hydroton in a layer at the bottom of my pots last time. works wonders for getting roots to grow. it's like having an airpot. i'm never going back to the old way.

you should do a side by side one day. looks wicked for 9 days, but you're also doing hydro and everything grows fast in hydro already.
