bro i am really liking what i am seeing here
i also appreciate you posting up the building pics
i do have a few ?? now, hope you don't mind
#1 when you rinse your hydroton, do you use plain water - or mix something in like peroxide ?
i just rinsed it to clear away all the dust, plain h2o, the dust was raising my ph and i read that most smart folk rinse it. some soak it in ph'ed h2o to try and stabilize it, i did not
#2 how much do one of them tri-meter's set ya back ?
$200+ bux, not cheap , but alot of good growers swear by them
#3 are you going to have one rez to fill your 4 DWC buckets up, or do it by hand ?
hand for now, thats why i bought the fill/drain tubes. gonna run different strains. this way i keep em all happy(ish)
#4 can you please explain how the mechanisms on the ebb/flow work
pictures would be great
i understand a pump switches on and floods the table
what i don't get is does it fill to a point, then drain ?
there are 2 seperate attachments, one fill attachment, this is hooked directly to the pump. it has a strainer look to it, this keeps the water from shooting up in the air. kinda diverts it to the side.
the other fitting is an overflow drain. it is set at about 4" tall. once the water hits the overflow fitting, it spills down it back into the res.
keeps flooding at bay and helps pump air into the res
if so how does the drain unplug at the correct time ?
or if it just drains right out through an open hole
once the flood cycle is over and the h2o dips below the overflow, the water in the tray works back down the fill tube. gravity takes over
#5 how often do you flood the table, and is that subject to change ever ?
if so, how often does it happen ?
i do every 4 hrs for 10 mins. seems to work well for now. if they get bigger and thirstier, i can shorten the 4 hr interval
sorry for the kiddie questions, but i have a hard time picturing things like this in my head
and i would much rather build my own than spend the $
way to keep it green holmeslice looking forward to the next up-date
