NL5 x Hz F4 I have 2 phenos
One triangle shape is the fastest flowering one
NL5 x Hz F4 1.jpeg

And these ones are the longest flowering ones and they seem to be less productive and a lot more resinous
Girl 2
NL5 x Hz F4 2.jpeg

Girl 3
NL5 x Hz F4 3.jpeg

I crossed a triangle shape F3 to Chocolate Thai male that didnt stop releasing pollen outdoors at summer solstice, it never revegged here
From this cross I am running 7 girls
Two of them are making the same buds as the longest flowering F4s pictured above
NL5 x Hz F3 2 x CTF5 girl 1
NL5 x Hz F3 2 x CTF5 girl 1 (2).jpeg

NL5 x Hz F3 2 x CTF5 girl 7 lowest productivity and the most resinous
NL5 x Hz F3 2 x CTF5 girl 7.jpeg

The rest are flowering like this

From the NL5 x Hz 91 F3s I have 6 girls
It is impressive how different they are indoors and outdoors
I like the outdoor looks a lot more
Girl 1 is the most advanced
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 1 top shot is a little over half meter, cant compare with the indoor run
Behind are the crosses of the mutant F3 x Chocolate Thai
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 1 (2).jpeg
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 1 top shot.jpeg

NL5 x Hz F3 girl 4 is a botrytis tester. She is at the worst place behind the door getting all the storms
NL5 x Hz F3 4 door.jpeg

NL5x Hz F3 girl 5 is the most resinous
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 5 (1).jpeg
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 5 (2).jpeg

NL5 x Hz F3 girl 3
NL5 x Hz F3 3 (3).jpeg

NL5 x Hz F3 girl 2 is triangle shape. The only one from this batch, I got another one before indoors. The last one is a snmaller plant looking similar to the rest

Weather forecast is 100ml of rain the next 4 days so I chopped first one
5 months seed to harvest. Plant was 1,80 mt tall, final productivity I will see when jarring but it is not much productive
This is the first plant I chop this season with no rot, I believe the genetics will not have much problems here
The further I go back in time with genetics, the more I like the high and plants grow a lot better

The whole line looks sativa. Very different from the rest of modern weed carrying the NL5 x Hz tag. Modern weed is easy trim
This one trims like a sativa, it is a lot of work

I found while trimming a couple of mites and a couple of aphids in the fan leaves. No bugs reach the buds
Not smelly at all, at least the live plant smells. Same for the whole line. Very good resistance to bugs and no fungus at all. I hope I find good specimens in this line
I want to outcross the best plants with landrace weed. I hope outcrossing with landraces will bring ancestral types back
This line is approved for my environment. This line should grow well outdoors in humid Usa southwest coast
Very sticky buds

After 3 rainy days with no sun some maturing plants are compalining and getting the chop

This NL5x Hz F3 mutant foxtail girl x CTF5
Terpenes of this one are citrus, lemon. Must be coming from the father line, the mother line dont have these terpenes
This plant has shown signs of rot before the rain, top shot is lost after the rain and a few other buds
The rest looks very good and it is productive despite the loss
NL5 x Hz 91 F3 x CTF5 1 girl 2 (9).jpeg

This is the sister of the above plant, same mother and father
Terpenes are more similar to the mom line, a mix of floral and spice terpenes
Good productivity despite a couple of rotten buds

This is half sister
Similar terpenes to the half sister above
Similar problems and productivity
NL5 x Hz F3 triangle pheno x CTF5
In all plants chopped today buds mature from bottom to top. The top shots still have white pistil while mid plant down it is all mature

This is the first of the NL5 x Hz F3 91
This is girl 1
One bud got rotten and she got the chop

I am curious what NL5 from that time is. It cant be indica. Terpenes of this plant are sativa and some of the best terpenes i Tried in cannabis
A mix of floral and spice. The only one I tried with even better terpenes is Senegal haze from Afropips
I am revegging this one and hope to outcross to some pure sativa also her foxtail sisters

The difference between the indoor grow and the outdoor outcome is huge
I cant believe the top shot I get outdoors, these plants love the sun
Sativa terpenes are excellent and sativa manicure is too much work compared to indicas. I hope I like the high as I liked the indoor high

NL5 x Hz F3 girl 1
Top shot
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 1 top shot (2).jpeg

Quite decent productivity. Sprouted the whole stock mid novemeber. 5 months from seed to harvest for all these plants. The rest of the family is coming down next 2 weeks, thais are sexing. So far all girls. I hope to find some pollen donor to outcross to the foxtail phenos

I got trimming help from my neighbours so a few plants came down

NL5 x Hz F3 girl 5 is super sticky. All of the plants very sticky
No bugs at all on any bud
3 months veg and 2 months flower
Fragance is floral and spices for a lack of better word. Not very strong smells but very nice ones. I wonder when cannabis breeding went the other way, these plants smell and look sativa, they trim like sativas
I am happy I will be vaping this stock soon

This is very interesting
NL5 x Hz F3 triangle pheno x ctf5 girl 4
The crosses from this line outdoors gives different phenos
This pheno is like the mom on steroids, no rot at all. 2,7 mts tall
2 months veg 3 months flower, same smells like mom, similar traingle shape buds
I am happy with the results

Like all sisters 2 months veg and 3 months flowering. 3 meter tall plant
This is airy foxtail pheno, soft sativa smells. Very little rot at the top, rest is clean
2 says ago I found the top shot broken and today I trimmed the bottom of it

Tomorrow I chop the NL5 x Hz F3 girl 4 behind the door before the 2 day rain coming.
Until today she has no rot and she took all rain like a champ. She is a triangle pheno like the mom of the plant of this post

This is NL5 x Hz F3 girl 4 Triangle pheno
I think I should start to call this pheno NL5 pheno from what I am seeing at other threads
This pheno I am seeing in the outcross with Chocolate Thai. Longer flowering but a lot more productive

No rot at all. It was at the door receiving all storms
Very impressive resistance to fungus and bugs
3 months veg 2 months flowering
Only when growing it outdoors together with THH and Ohz x Skunk and after growing more than 100 hazes and modern western weed, one realizes the quality of this particular line
There will be a second run in winter after some thais and hybrid tests are harvested.
And I hope to keep the one or the ones I like to outcross to pure sativas
The more backwards I go in time with genetics, the more I like the weed
Terpenes are floral and spices for all of them. I am seeing descriptions of pine as smell. I have no clue what they are meaning, I have pine trees here and I use pine wood. It smells like any other wood. So when people mean pine they mean wood? I never smelt wood in cannabis
I am very curious about what NL5 smells like and how the high is. It seems it is the triangle shape bud
This is NL5 x Hz F3 girl 4 Triangle pheno

NL5 x Hz F3 girl 4 (7).jpeg
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 4 (8).jpeg

I have 2 more left of this line
The longer flowering one which is a foxtail pheno I should call haze pheno and another runt which is a NL5 triangle shape pheno. So total 3 haze phenos and 3 NL5 phenos.
Indoors the haze pheno cannot be seen properly

When people talk of pine smell they mean the scent of the needles. Fold one in half and sniff...

How on earth does all wood smell the same to you though lol..

I really appreciate the link, after the rain in 36 hours from now I will try, I am very curious
At this part of the world pine is used to describe shape in cannabis. I never heard of pine as smell and most woods for me smell like wood except things like Palo Santo which have a very special fragance of its own
There was even a variety called pinito(little pine) which is coming from a paraguayan late 90s and the shape of the plant was pine.

Parameters in cannabis vary all around the planet

Put some different species through a wood chipper. A world of smells hehe.
I tried today
I have 4 different type of woods there, the brace is pine, there is eucaliptus and 2 native trees.
This one have special smell when burning, not incense but something like that. People dont like heating with this wood because of the smell. But the others all smell the same to me.
Wood.jpeg

But the rest of the woods for me smell wood. I will ask the wood chipper who is chipping tonnes a year if he can recognize wood by smell, I am honestly curious
This is the pine tree I have next to my house. I folded the needles in half and what I smelt was chorophyll
I probably dont have a very developed sense of smell or this variety of pine dont make much smell
Pine tree.jpeg

This is the longest flowering NL5 x Hz F3. It is also the most productive, the tallest and the most resinous
The male I used is matching this girl. Most productive, tallest and the longest flowering one.
The difference is just a couple of weeks between the fastest and slowest
It is flowering for 67 days since shown first pistil. Maybe one more week. So far no rot at all
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 3 (3).jpeg

In front is the NL5 x Hz F3 girl 3 longest flowering haze pheno and in the back is a niece of her made with the mutant indoor pheno x Chocolate Thai
NL5 x Hz F3 girl 3 (1).jpeg

This is NL5xHz F3 triangle NL5 pheno x Chocolate Thai girl 5
Being just 25% of the genetics the NL5 phenos come up. There was a little rot
Sticky weed. 2 meter tall plant. 80 days flowering days since shown first pistil
Productivity improved significantly compared to the NL5 x Hz F3 NL5 phenos at the expense of longest flowering time
It was a windy morning

I leave this here
Here you go @funkyhorse , this is the very first Catalog description and picture of the strain that continues to provoke controversy 35 years later. Starting arguments should have been a sidenote for the Original accompanying Warning.

I hope you dont mind, what seedbank is this catalogue from?
What I am getting is sinilar to the description

I have M39 F2 which should be similar to this, next year I might run it. I am getting curious about this NL5.
I dont understand why NL5 has such a bad press
The description matches the ancestral skunk sativa I had. Sweet pungency. But sadly that skunk had no high.
What seedbank is this NL5 x Skunk from? Have you tried it? How does it smoke, how are the effects?

1.) It's not all NL5. Your plants show the NL5 calyx on a Haze spear bud, not pure NL5 colas.

2.) Nevil worked at Sensi after he got out of jail, the same time those C5 were made. Those 91 NL5xHazeC are the same as the ones he made at his Seed Bank, original parents and all (NL5, HazeC), made 1v1, never "gangbanged".
