I think the packers want two 1st rd picks for Rodgers, or at least that’s their starting point. As we get closer to the draft maybe they’ll take this year’s 1st and a 3rd next year. Jets do have a good defense and some good skill players (WR garrett Wilson and Elijah moore) and if breece hall can come back week 1 (tore his acl in wk 7 last season but was looking like a top 5 RB before that) they can be a real contender with aaron Rodgers at QB, assuming he plays like an mvp again. Like u said, with these old heads at QB you have to have a good squad in place ready for them to step in.

I think Pop is right, DB, u have nothing to worry about with the apt inspection. Seems like u fixed everything pretty good and everything will be shipshape for inspection. Stateville is still around in Joliet, Hawk, it’s the receiving area for all new prisoners. They get evaluated and then sent off to different prisons around the state depending on sentence and threat level. Some stay at Stateville since it’s also a max security prison. Dont kink shame me.

That’s pretty impressive that youre as active as you are (camping, hiking, biking etc) with a bad back and messed up knees and foot. I guess the alternative would be even worse: not exercising at all and packing on the weight would stress out your back and joints even more. Do supplements like collagen or glucosamine help with the achy joints?

Let us know what happens with the fence, if you fix it yourself or hire someone. I guess the neighbor would help pay for the materials if you do it yourself, maybe they should pay for all of it while your labor is your contribution?

Jets got another 2nd rd pick by trading WR Elijah moore to the browns (also had to give a 3rd rd pick to the browns as well) so people are thinking maybe the packers would be good with two 2nd rd picks for Rodgers. He did have a down season last year but he was missing a top 5 WR (Devante adams), had to break in 2 new rookie WRs and also had a fractured thumb most of the year (played with tape on it, limited his practice reps as well). If he can have a 35td/7int year for the jets I figure they’ll win 12+ games, so that’s worth it even if he’s making 58M next year. Jets havent won a superbowl since broadway joe in the 60s so sometimes u gotta do desperate things.

Sorry to hear u keep being stressed out about ur pops, Hawk, but u can only do so much. Also it seems like u have some companionship so maybe things are looking up in that department.

hahah now i sounds like a big baby complaining about my aches and pains
i wish i did more camping and stuff but ive also gotten lazy in my old age and now spend a lot of time watching tv or just puttering around the house; i can still walk up a hill, just not as fast as i used to be
its been raining like crazy here for the past week and i hope it stops soon so i can get the new fence put in
i dont knwo if the neighbors are going to chip in for anything, but the fence needs to be fixed
i would rather pay the fence guy to do the work and just let them handle all the logistics
a #1 and teo 2nd rndrs sounds more like it, but you still have to pay a.rog and nothing is guaranteed for the jet (other than being on the hook for almost 60m)
the thing is there are a lot of qbs on the market right now and if you just want someone to get you through the next couple years you have your pick of guys
/im not saying a.rog isnt a great qb but his best years are porb behind him

Well u also have the excuse of the weather, when it gets warmer and drier im sure youll be out camping on the weekends and hiking and all that. Yeah I heard cali had a dozen ‘atmospheric rivers’ the last few months, never really heard that term before but apparently all sorts of rain and snow has been falling. Good for the drought, not so good to experience it. Didn’t LA get a tornado this week? Crazy stuff.

The rams managed to be successful going all-in the last few years, trading draft picks and manipulating cap space in order to win a superbowl. So if the jets feel like QB is their missing piece they’ll do what they need to do to make a Rodgers deal happen. Honestly they started some pretty terrible QBs last year, zach Wilson is pretty much a bust, joe flacco is a veteran backup that should never play if you want to contend, and mike white is a decent backup who’s getting 4M/yr from the dolphins now to backup Tua. Rodgers is way better than all those guys put together. It’ll be interesting to see how good they truly are with him at QB, they’ll play the pats and bills 4x, also the chiefs chargers eagles and cowboys, if they can go 12-13 wins that’s a legit superbowl contender. But ur right, with Rodgers they have a narrow window, if they don’t win a ring in the next 2 years he’s toast.

Hey now Hawk don’t get too down on yourself, life has a way of working itself out you just have to get in that mindset of you can handle anything the comes ur way. Everyone gets into these situations where you feel helpless and hopeless but people are more resilient than you think, tomorrow is a new day, just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and you’ll get through this, just takes time is all.

Im not sure, but is all the rain good for California’s crops, or bad? You would think it’s good because more water for irrigation during the summer but also bad cause maybe it delays planting season, can also ruin young crops by flooding and killing them.
You ever see a sinkhole near you? I know I see them on the news from time to time, big ones that swallow up cars, sometimes even buildings. I’d imagine all the homes built on hill sides are in danger too.

Not sure who’s going to sign Zeke, cowboys already tagged tony pollard so he’s their #1 this season, and signed Ronald jones (formerly of the bucs and last yr with the chiefs) as his backup. Zeke probably wants a backup job at least, not a #3 RB spot who probably has to play special teams. Maybe he’ll sit out training camp or even the 1st month of the season, waiting till some team has an RB injury and needs to sign a guy off the street.

I usually change my own oil, can do it for $25 in materials from Walmart, last time I went to jiffy lube they charged me $90 for an oil change what a ripoff. It is a hassle getting rid of the old oil and filter, usually have to take it to an auto parts store or some county recycling facility.

Flacco actually started some games for the jets the first week or two while zach Wilson was recovering from a knee injury suffered in the preseason. the rain is good for the most part, the sil is saturated and there is a lot of water in the water table compared to most years
but for the most part we just let that shit run off into the ocean and dont really have a system in place to effectively collect excesive rain water so prices are not going to go down one bit; in fact sdg&e wants to raise out electrical rates again

/the beens nest i posted a while back was actually in a sink hole and you could see the harder layer soil over the top of the softer stuff
once the soft suff below washes away the top layer collapses et voila! you have yourslef a sinkhole
a lot of the ones opening up here right now are due to the city not maintaining their pipes under the ground, a sewer pipe starts leaking underground and eroding the soil and then all this water rushes through taking everything with it
the weak topsoil then collapses and a hole forms
the bluff/ hillside erosion is a think too and its funny to watch rich peoples houses fall into the sea and then they complain that they could not build a seawall/ riprap on the public beach
there is this thing where peoples home owners insurance is getting cancld left and right in california right now
because its just too costly to insure in the state

I kind of wanted a diesel vehicle myself, for the better mileage, but theyre more expensive to maintain especially if it needs engine work. But ur right Hawk, those engines last forever if you take care of it.

How would more water mean less costly electricity in Cali, Pops? Something to do with hydroelectric power, more river water means more electricity from dams?
Ur right that even if costs decrease for big companies that price cuts will slowly trickle back down to consumers, if at all. That’s what they say about gas prices, ‘rockets and feathers’ , they soar like a rocket after oil prices go up but float down like a feather when oil prices fall.

I didn’t know it’s starting to get hard to get homeowner’s ins in California. I know in places like florida it’s hard to get ins that will cover hurricanes, cause they get multiple bad ones every year it seems like.

Maybe ur going through some hormonal changes, Pop. I know women go through menopause, is there something similar for men too, when their hormone levels change as they age? Yeah, I think I learned on this forum that cali pays like 2-4x the kilowatt rate of IL, so indoor grows are harder to make profitable there. PG&E must be raking in the dollars. I had a buddy who bought a home near LA, he moved in and electricity was working and never paid an electric bill in the 3-4 yrs he lived there. Guess he didn’t have a smart meter? This was like 10-12 years ago.

Seems like for the most part earthquake damage isnt too severe in California, you get a bad one every 10-20 years (?), but FL gets hit by a bad hurricane every 3-4 yrs. It’s like I don’t mind rebuilding something once or twice in 20 years, but 5x in 20 years? Nah.

Getting leaner is a good thing as you age, more muscle has all the problems as more fat but of course looks better. More stress on your joints and cardio, some of those pro bodybuilders breathe like fat people. It gets harder to lose weight and keep it off as you age, or at least harder than when you were younger.

Sorry you got into it again with your pops, Hawk, but sounds like it ended up better than usually does. You managed to walk away and better yet you kept your 30pack and smoke on you.
Yeah, a pork rib roast is a thing, it can come in a big crown thing (circular with the ribs sticking up) from the butcher but those are like 20-30lbs. Pork is a good alternative to beef if you can cook it nice and tender, let us know how it works out. I guess you’ll be using the cabernet sauce again?
