Yeah, that sounds ideal, having winters where it doesnt get below 50F and summers where it doesnt get above 90F often. Places like AZ and TX have nice winters but summer you can have entire months where every day breaks 100F. I guess for people who live there you dont really do much outdoors when it's that hot.

Lake michigan is nothing compared to the Pacific of course but definitely there's a cooling effect near the lake, when you go deep inland like missouri or Iowa you can get 100F highs, maybe near the lake it's 90F.

I had a poke in thermometer but like a dumbass i thought for some reason it was oven safe, left it in a roast in the oven and the plastic softened and got misshapen. Ive been thinking of getting one of those infrared thermometers but of course you cant measure inside the meat temp with one, but at least you can measure grill temp.

I guess that can happen with any unproven kicker, you can be cut if you miss a big kick, but still that cant be good hanging over your head while youre lining up an attempt. But maybe that’s the point, to put that pressure on them, cause they’ll have real pressure in an actual game?
It’s all well and good to have these issues during summer mini camps, hopefully sometime during training camp they’ll have at least one dependable guy. Ur right tho I don’t think they were simulating a rush so that should make the attempt even easier.

Yeah, that’s a good idea Pop, sounds like water curing weed, u know how you have to let harvested bud dry and hang for a week or so to cure it, to make it nice and smokable, u can do the same thing by letting it soak in water for a day or so and then drying it, the water removes most of the chlorophyll. It’s a way of fast curing fresh bud, but the smoke doesn’t taste as good as air curing, a lot of the mj flavor gets leached out in the water as well. As a result, the smoke from burning doesn’t smell as much like mj. I tried water curing once years ago when I first started growing, don’t remember too much of the result, I think the smoke did lose a lot of flavor and smell from what I recall but the loss in taste didn’t make up for the gain in stealth imo. Like, I think the bud tasted really bad, like smoking a houseplant, could barely choke it down even though still got me nice and high.
I could water wash my hidden stash but I think it’ll still leave enough of an odor where Ill be caught, the woman has a nose like a bloodhound. I’d love to keep a bong hidden around here but she could smell it on my clothes and my breath afterwards; I mean I could Febreze and chew gum but still it'll raise her suspicions, like why do u smell like febreze?!?

I didn’t enjoy making bho because it’s messy and youre spraying and evaporating all this butane, supposedly though if you properly purge the oil (putting the dish of oil and ‘tane in a larger dish full of hot water) all the butane should boil off, since it’s a gas at room temperature. Supposedly people have run tests on purged BHO and there’s such little amounts of butane in it that you would get more butane using a bic lighter to light up your bong than from a hit of bho.
Ethanol is the alcohol u can drink, methanol is rubbing alcohol. Are you using rubbing alcohol to extract oil? Either way, it’s definitely a less dangerous way of making oil, less flammable than butane, but yeah, probably the healthiest way of making hash is the oldfashioned way of harvesting trichomes through sifting. I don’t think you can use it as is in vape pens though, but the way you use, sprinkling a pinch on top of buds is a tasty way to turbocharge a bowl. Oil is a little more versatile but if you have a bunch of dry sift or ice hash it's probably easy to convert that to oil.

yeah, its ethanol (very high grade)
the lab i work in uses it for certain "processes" and im able to have a friend siphon off a few liters for me
otherwise the stuff is crazy expensive and i would have never tried it
my favorite is still the dry sift/ water has method
if you were able to get some good extract maybe you could eat it, like a pinch of fresh hash and a peanut butter cup or something like that
i have never tried water curing smoke but it makes sence what you say
chloyphil is water soluable so its easily washed away but you are probably wshing away other good stuff too
maybe because you are eattign it you wont miss the flavors as much
i know what you mean about how hard it is to try and cover up smells and not seem suspicious or just masking the odour; now you smell like weed and fabreeze
ive heard stories of the lakes and hear they even get surf from time to time! ive also heard that there are some nice big fish there too
kicker is one of the most under appreciated positions in the game and i think the bears might have a problem if they cant find someone they can count on before the season starts
wanst it the season before last or two years ago that the chargers lost about 3-4 games because of missed kicks; thats what you get for putting your faith in a young'ho
hope you had a great week baba and your weekend is starting off on the right foot brother!

If it’s ethanol couldn’t you drink it? If it’s very pure it wouldn’t have much flavor other than alcohol taste but it would knock u on ur arse. I actually did that a few times last year, got a bottle of everclear (97.5% grain alcohol) or this polish brand of grain alcohol that was 95%, put some decarbed bud in there, and then would sip at the mixture to get high. Only little sips so I wouldn’t feel much of an alcohol buzz. Later on I would use olive oil or even corn oil to do the same thing, cheaper than using alcohol as a carrier for the thc.

Years ago I made firecracker cookies a few times, just ground up bud sprinkled over peanut butter that you spread over ritz crackers and then toasted in a toaster oven or nuked for a bit to cook it. Didn’t taste that great and didn’t get me as high as a true edible would, think it needed to be properly cooked, the firecracker cookie was like a quick and dirty way of making an edible if you didn’t have the proper time to do it.
Im not sure if I ever made edibles with the bud that I water cured, I only did one water cured batch, probably not my whole harvest. But that would have been a good idea, to turn it into edibles. I don’t actually mind the mj taste in edibles though, cause im usually not eating as much of it as if it were really dessert.
The woman is really sensitive to smells, whenever we’re next to some ‘crusty’ looking people, she’ll say they smell like weed, or cigarettes, etc, while I don’t smell much. Do you ever think your clothes smell like weed if you’ve been chiefing a lot? If youre used to it, you probably don’t smell anything…

When it’s pretty windy you can get some decent waves, not sure if ive ever seen a surfboard or bodyboard on the lake, though there are plenty of boats, kayaks, seadoos, etc. And Ive never gone fishing but I think there’s lake salmon, at least during the fall you’ll see a bunch of big fish near the shore, dying, maybe that’s their spawning season?

The bears still have 2 kickers, Elliott fry and eddie piniero. I think fry made a 52 yarder in minicamp, but then missed another 52 yarder later. So there’s hope that they have their kicker of the future on the roster. Also I think matt Bryant got released by the falcons and is a FA, and Robbie gould hasn’t signed his franchise tag from the niners and wants to be a FA. But ur right, you could have a great team but if you screw up special teams you could go from 12 wins and division winner to 9 wins and out of the playoffs.

The weekend started off rainy here so not much going on outside, I did a cook in the egg yesterday with some leftover meat, barely had enough charcoal to finish. Still didn’t calibrate my thermometer or get the wireless one up and running but definitely will do that with my next cook.

hope you had a great weekend brother
you can still cook a great meal on the cooker with out a thermometer
i grew up using the touch technique to tell how cooked meat was, where you press on the meat and can get a feel for how done it is most of the time, it works great for things like steaks, pork chops and chicken
things like smoked meats are a little harder and i go by bone protrusion and feel mostly
yeah it was ethanol, like .999 pure
im not too sure about drinking it, i can get drinking liquor off the shelf any old day
/ even the 151 proof we get out here in ca has other stuff
at this proof, the ethanol should evaporate almost completely and leave behind just a water residue was my thinking, so i figured it would be the most pure extraction
but maybe i did somethign wrong and i wasnt that impressed with the oil
fwiw, we have a friend who got one of those coffee pot extractors and we have given him shake to infuse into alcohol

it was just ok;strangely, i dident really take to it like i thought i would
i will have to try those firecrackers one of these days!
i have that kief that would work great for somethign like that
yeah sometimes the clothes can smell like weed
i pretty much only smoke in this one room of the house and dont smoke before work but the mrs will
i wear cologne too so i try and smell good
but i know what you mean about girls having a mich better sence of smell than guys do
yeah if the bog fish are so close to the shore they could just be spawned out and probably not too good for eating but i bet there are some big ones lurking out in the deep water
heard about gould and thought of your bears; that would be a good fit but i think hes going to sign as long as the 9rs meet him half way
i guess we will see whos available after preseasons over; do you see either of the two kickers left as being the kickers of the future?

hope your week is off to a great start man!

Yeah, that’s why Ive been putting off fixing the thermometers, you can sort of tell doneness without it. With whole chicken, I pull at the leg and if it moves pretty easily in the socket it’s cooked all the way through. With beef and pork, like you said it’s all how soft or firm the meat is when you poke at it.

But smoking food ill need to get the temp right, the pork shoulder turned out ok but it wasn’t cooked low and slow enough to be fork tender.

Ive only made ethanol thc oil once or twice, and that a long time ago, but I remember it being lighter brown than butane oil? Maybe the alcohol didn’t extract all the cannabinoids, and that’s why it’s not as good a high as other extraction methods?

Ha, ur friend’s thc alcohol looks like mine, although mines more brown than green, probably because i decarboxylate mine first. Then again, his looks pretty brown too.

Tastes like crap really, the alcohol and bud make it taste really bitter and astringent, but a little bit gets me going after a while. Maybe that's why u didnt like it, if he didnt decarb it (bake it in oven, wrapped securely in foil so no vapor escapes, at 275 for 15min, let cool before opening foil) then the thc-c (non psychoactive) hasnt been converted to thc-a (psychoactive). Maybe i got the names reversed, but decarbing is basically why smoking bud gets you high, but just eating straight bud doesnt - edibles are bud mixed with fat (butter or oil) and baked in oven, that gets u plenty high, but eating a raw nug aint gonna much for you.

Also usually I just used cooking oil, olive or canola, instead of liquor, maybe the fats solubilize the cannabinoids better, maybe adds to potency.

I think using kief would be better for firecrackers than ground bud, should make it plenty more potent. Just have something ready to drink on hand, crackers and peanut butter tends to make a dry cookie.

I think as long as you bathe and wash ur clothes regularly u shouldn’t smell like mj when you go out. I was thinking if you tend to wear your ‘at-home’ clothes for a few days between washes, and youre chiefing in them a lot, they could smell like mj, but then again if youre at home who’s going to notice?

Yeah, none of the fishermen were going after these big fish all just gathered in the shallows, figured there was a reason for that, when each of them looked at least 5-10lbs with a lot of meat.

Im not sure what to think of the bears kicker situation, maybe Elliott or eli will turn out to be the one, maybe gould will come back or a free agent kicker will be signed. There’s 300 colleges that play Div I football, each start a kicker, even if only 10 of those kickers are pro caliber, that’s 10 kickers a year that could start in the NFL. Not sure why the bears cant seem to find one, but they still have 2+ months to sort it out.

im sure the bears will have found a kicker by the start of the season
thats a hot take that only ten of the hundreds of college kickers are nfl quality, but it sounds about right
same goes for punters too i bet, only the very best of the best even get a chance to play at the next level
yeah i wear at home clothes at least a couple times before changing them out and they might smell like dank
especially the ones i wore last night after smoking a fatty
i tihnk how you smoke effects how you smell just as much as anything else
i usually smoke from a bong por pipe, but the mrs likes joints
the joints reek up everything, your fingers, your clothes, and really lingers on your breath
sometimes we will go for walks and smoke in the night air, that dosent stink things up too bad
im not too sure how our friend makes the brew
he got one of those butter makers that looks like a coffee pot and you just set it
im pretty sure it decarbs the cannabis but maybe i will ask him next time
he is sure generous and buys two big bottles of liquor and i just give him a bunch of trim or popcorn
it dosent taste that bad but its not really something i took to for whatever reason
the oil i made was super tan, like really light brown
i only let it sit for a few minutes so maybe i dident give it enough time to really infuse
tomorrow is wed and we are making it through the work week my man
hope its beena good one for you
can you believe the 4rth of july is right around the corner
the 4rth is one of my favorite holidays, always has been
nothing says summer like cooking out and watching fireworks!
have a great week baba'

They’ll have a kicker by week 1, no doubt, but whether that kicker only hits 70% of their FG (elite ones hit 85-90%) is the big question. Im thinking the big programs (Power 5, some independents like Notre dame) only number about 90 teams, and most of the nfl caliber players come from those schools. And even big college programs, most of those kids, even the good ones, don’t sniff the NFL.

The thing with kickers though is some of the best ones were undrafted. Justin tucker of the ravens was undrafted out of U-Texas and he’s the most accurate kicker in league history, Gould was undrafted out of penn state and he’s the best kicker in bears history. So it’s not like you have to spend even a low round draft pick on a good kicker, and the bears have been trying out plenty of them during the off-season, but for some reason no one has stood out. Maybe theyre going about this the wrong way, instead of putting a bunch of them on the spot and picking the ones who survive, round robin style, they should pick one or two good prospects and coach them up and build up their confidence to make them successful. I'm not sure, but it's worrisome. I dont really think the bears are a championship caliber team, not unless trubisky and the offense becomes a lot more consistent, but if they are then having a subpar kicker can torpedo their playoff hopes quickly.

Yeah, makes sense that smoking a J, the smoke hanging around for 10 mins or so, smells up the clothes much more than hitting a bong or bowl. Do you try to blow the smoke out the window when youre indoors? Have a fan going? When the woman relegated me to the basement when she still let me smoke and vape, I tried to blow it out one of the little basement windows. Anything to keep the smell down when inside the house. And yeah, I didn’t care much about my clothes cause I always changed when I had to go out.

If youre using almost pure ethanol I would think a single wash would get most of the trichs, shake it up for a minute or so then strain it. Did you break or grind up the bud first, to give maximum access to the trichomes? If youre used to good old kief/dry sift/bubble hash, I could see why you’d prefer that over oil extract or an alcohol infusion. Smoking pure trichomes you probably get the most flavor.

4th of July is always nice, holiday summer weekend, lot of bbq-ing going on. Hopefully I can do a nice brisket by then. I used to do the fireworks shows all the time but im pretty much over it, once you’ve seen a few dozen you’ve seem them all imo. Still, theyre pretty, and I like the big boomers that sound like dynamite and you can feel the sound/blast wave in your chest. If youre a vet though and heard too many real explosions that stuff will probably give you ptsd.

we dont go to the big firework shows either
the trafic around them is insane and there are a lot of drunks out
sometimes we go to my buddies house but i like staying home and just chillin
ill cook up a bunch of stuff, have a few drinks and then we climb into the roof to watch the fireworks
/we roll out the camping pads and i bring a little cooler up
we have a good view of the local display and can eve see some of the ones farther away if the night is clear enough
i usually go simple with burgers and chicken on the 4rth
i still havent decided if im taking the 5th off too; the 4rth of july is one of those night time holidays like new years eve so its really the day after you appreciate
we will smoke some joints while we are up there for sure
i pretty much prepped the material just like i would for a dry extraction, but i dident shake the container that much
maybe i will have to try this again here and see if i can do better but like you said, good old dry sift is nice enough and i have a bunch of ice hash too
you are right abuot kickers mostly being undrafted or really late round picks
i looked it up and the highest kicker ever drafted was seabass' (sebastion janikowski) with the 17th pick in the first round (rai)
looking into it, they seem to be mostly later picks overall witha few getting drafted in the 3rd
https://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?position=SPECIALISTS&type=position
i think you are totally right that the bears cant afford to leave points on the field and need get their kicking game together before they can really move to the next level
even if the offense catches fire and the defense is crushing it, the kicking game can be the difference between a win or a loss

Yeah, I remember years ago traffic was so bad after a fireworks show, people were yelling at each other to get out of the parking lot. Later on I resolved to only walk to that show, wasn’t too far from my place but even that got annoying after a while.
I knew a guy who was big into fireworks and put on his own show, he’d set up these makeshift mortars, pvc tubes stuck in buckets of sand or concrete, and then shoot the big fireworks out of them. Not nearly as big as the show a town or city will put on, but definitely more professional than what your average consumer will get. Still, it wasn’t that impressive to watch, cause the pros probably have like fifty tubes set up and a crew of guys reloading and lighting, whereas this guy would set off one a time, taking a couple minutes between each one. Probably didn’t want to blow his arm off, which is smart, but it was small time compared to a real show.

Ive been thinking a lot about meat blends for burgers. You going to do a blend of ground beef and minced bacon for the 4th? Have you ever thought of using chorizo or ground pork in a burger, to add more tenderness although they have to be cooked through?

Yeah, sucks that the 4th is on a Thursday, so an employer would have to give you 2 days off instead of 1 if they wanted to give you an extended weekend. Sounds like u should burn that vacation day Pop, and really enjoy a nice 4 day weekend.

I would think with alcohol that pure a simple swirl in well ground up bud would get all the trichs dissolved. Was the yield ok, about 20%?

Janikowski as a 1st rd pick might have been actually worth it, he was the raider’s kicker for like 15 yrs and was fairly reliable even with 50+ yd kicks. Roberto Aguayo was a 2nd rd pick by the Bucs 2-3 yrs ago and was a terrible choice, he was great in college but couldn’t hit anything in the nfl. I think he was one of the dozen or more kickers the bears took a look at this year.
If the bears do end up having a terrible kicking game, I would just have to shake my head and laugh. It’s always one thing or another with this team, when the defense is great the offense is terrible, when the offense is good the defense is awful.

i can relate to having a lot of great pieces but not having that one part that puts you over the top
the bolts have had one of the best teams on paper for years but would always find a way to screw the season up
it just makes it harder for the offense and d' when the special teams are a weak link
i can see you guys racking up the turn overs but potentially leaving point on the field because the offense gets held
lets hope that trubs' continues to develop and the rest of the team takes its game up a notch
i read somewhere today about how t.cohen is expecting to play prettymuch the same role as last year
hopefully the rookie rb will have a great year
yeah a lot of the kickers drafted in the higher rounds (2-3) seem to be busts
one of them was ex charger n.kaeding (talk about wasted picks, he had plenty of leg but wasnt clutch at all)
its fun to shoot off your own fireworks but nothing like the big shows for sure
those programs are computer controlled and take months to plan out
i once met a girl whos family did firework shows and you would not believe the chemistry that went into the shots
one year the big city show in the bay had a mis fire and they ended up launching over 30m of fireworks off all at once
the local show is all right but not the best, but i still enjoy it
a nice chill night on the roof with the woman and a nice burger, burning some smoke and maybe having a nice drink or three
/one year we fell sleep on the roof
i wasnt thinking of mixing up my own ground until now, baba'
chorizo and burger sound good and i think the beef and spices in the mix would come out really good
ground pork is kind of lean and maybe you would want to add something into the mix to act as a binder especially if you want to cook it on the grill
i was talking to some friends at work today about different marinades and just ordered a big bottle of adobo seasoning online
i was planning on using it for chicken but maybe i will have to work up something using that and the ground beef
i have a couple weeks to get things sorted
hope your week is wrapping up nicely my man, tomorrow is friday!

Yeah, 2 years ago the bolts could have won 12 games but they started 1-3 because of kicker problems, they had that rookie young hoe. Too bad he never turned out ok, that would have been a great marketing name.
I think the bears had to dumb down the offense a bit for trubisky since he’s still pretty raw, even though he spent 4 yrs in college he only started 1 year. But once they did simplify things for trubs I think that was the week he threw 6 tds vs the Bucs. Now, throwing a quarter of your season’s td passes against probably the worst D in the league isn’t as great as it sounds, but it does show coach Nagy is willing to adjust his scheme to best fit his players. Now however im hearing the usual chatter of Trubs is so focused and mastering this offense, blah blah, so maybe we’ll see some significant improvement. Supposedly even a veteran QB like alex smith took a couple years to fully learn Nagy’s offense (nagy was the OC with the chiefs, even though reid called the plays).

I didn’t know kaeding was a 3rd round pick, kind of high for a kicker but worth it if he’s very good. And he was during the regular season, made a couple all Pro teams and pro bowls and retired with the 2nd highest FG% in history (86%) but ur right, he stunk it up in the playoffs, only hit like 50% in the playoffs. Kind of reminds me of Blair Walsh, he was only a 6th rd pick of the Vikings but he started out gangbusters, he went 10/10 on 50yd FGs his rookie year, signed a fat extension his 3rd yr, but then missed a game winning kick in the playoffs vs seattle and has struggled ever since.
I didn’t know the professional shows were computer controlled, but makes sense. Was it 30K of fireworks being set off accidentally? Supposedly the big shows cost about 1K a minute, maybe 4-5x more if it’s a really big show.
The guy who set off his own mortars was really an acquaintance of a friend, guess he lived in my buddy’s neighborhood and had been doing this for a while so everyone knew about it and would go watch. Im pretty sure the cops were ok with it too, otherwise they would have shut him down. Some of his fireworks would set off the car alarms in the neighborhood. I guess the nice thing about his show was that you could be real close to where he fired them, whereas most shows you don’t even really see where they’re coming from.
I once years ago made burgers with ground beef and ground pork, maybe an even mix of each, and they came out real juicy and tender even when cooked through. I think pork is more tender and softer than beef, plus the ground pork has a good amount of fat in it like ground beef does, so I had no issues with toughness or breaking apart. Maybe the only thing I didn’t like (it was like over 10yrs ago) was that the patty had this smooth sort of texture, like a processed patty, or a burger mix that’s been heavily kneaded by hand. Maybe it’s just me, but a patty with a really smooth texture makes me think of fast food, machine made patties. There’s a place in the burbs called Charlie beinlich’s that my friend told me had a good burger, years ago I tried it out and wasn’t that impressed, the burger tasted good enough, well seasoned and sizeable (more than ¼ lb) but the texture was more like a mcdonalds patty, just too smooth to be handpacked, felt like I paid $13 for a mcdonalds meal. And the woman had their shrimp cocktail, the shrimp were big and meaty and the cocktail sauce was super spicy, probably had a bunch of wasabi in it, but that thing was like $18 for maybe 8-10 shrimps plus sauce? Everything was solid, so I could see why it’s popular, just seemed like it cost 30-40% more than what I would have been willing to pay for it.

i know what you mean about overpaying for trendy food
dont get me wrong, it can still be solid stuff, but you feel like it could be at least a third cheaper for what you aregettiing
but thats whats popular right now, at least here in socal
places like grub, burgerbar a whole bunhc of them
decent burgers but still ads up to over $20 a person with fries
yeah kaeding was a statistically proficient kicker but he was not clutch
i can see trubinski growing more and in addition to learning the bears offense being more adept at reading defenses
he is no general on the field but there is this vision that i tihnk the good quarterbacks have, the ability to see a play unfold and even plan a step ahead
im curious to see how the rams handle goff and his contract
i like his arm strength and think he has flourished under mcvay, but we say how he played under jeff fisher and i wonder if he might be more a product of the system hes playing in
he could be looking at a big payday and im sure the rams will make him an above market offer here, but i would hate to see them get handcuffed with a bunch of big contracts and not be able to add talent over the next few years
hope you have a fun weeeknd planned
we have a pretty full dance card for saturday but im doing everything i can to keep sunday wide open
i got this adobo seasoning mix and want to make some chicken
hope you had a great week baba and are set to slide into a fun and relaxing weekend

Haha, that totally escaped me, but that’s the city in me talking. Youre just lucky I didn’t call it ‘scrimps’.
On a side note, I didn’t know there were grammar police on this board. This is a forum for stoners/growers, you must be very busy, some of these posts are barely English and others seem written under the influence of psychedelics. It’s all good though.

Yeah Pop, I remember when $10 for a burger and fries was considered expensive, now even some of the fancier chains like shake shack can be almost $20 for a double burger w/cheese, fries and shake plus tax. Kind of boggles my mind, if a family of four ate there you could spend $50-80 easily. This is why cheap chains like mcdonalds/wendys/BK, checkers, JITB will never go out of business, you can get a greasy, tasty (if somewhat low quality) meal for $5-6 a person. Then again, it’s not like you can take family/friends to McD’s for a special occasion.

It seems like the rams don’t want to give Goff a contract extension just yet, especially since wentz and Wilson just reset the market again. If goff had won the superbowl, I think they would have thrown money at him, but given that he only led the team to 3pts and wasn’t lighting it up in the playoffs in general I think theyre going to wait and see if he can regain his form (he was MVP caliber the first 10-12 weeks of the season).

If I’d known you were interested in trying adobo seasoning I would have sent you some, I have several shakers gifted to me by friends, including some of their special flavors, like an orange citrus one. It’s good seasoning but I don’t often use it, preferring just plain salt and pepper most times. It’s more of a fine powder than salt-size granules, and if I had to describe their standard flavor, I would say it’s like a salty, lemon, garlic and onion flavor. Good on chicken and beef. Let me know what you think of it.

im got used to the super salty brown chicken adobo growing up here in san diego
there is a huge phillipino community so im all about things like chicken adobo, pancit and lumpias
/love phillipino food and the people are usually pretty cool
if i knew you were stocked up on seasoning i would have totally hit you up brother, how come people are giving you adobo seasoning in the mid west?
i hear you on sticking to the basics when seasoning food and fresh cracked pepper and a good salt are the foundations of flavor
i was just feeling bored with the usual seasonings i have and thought i would pick up a container of something different
that sounds pretty spot on as far as the flavor salty, garlic, onion with some citrus
so with all this talk of flavors, i decided to crack the bottle open
its the goya brand and its super salty but tastes good
i like it; its all ground really fine like you said and it has a few other flavors there too, a lot of that umami thing going on
i hvae some beef im thinking of grilling but i will definitely make something wiht it this weekend
thats one of the reasons i think places like in n out are so popular
its a nice, fun place and the meals are about $7 for a double/double combo (more if you got a shake but def less than $10)
its not someplace you go to celebrate ( or do you, i totally went there on my birthday) but its a great burger for a solid price
i think you are right about the rams wanting to see goff play another year before offering him a new deal
you are totally right that if he had won the super bowl (or even played like he did earlier in the season) i think they would have locked him up right now, but we will see how goff plays this year
kick ass baba, hope you are having a great weekend

I know you guys all missed the token Browns fan

Would've been cool to get Gerald McCoy, but at least The Browns don't have to play against him twice a year on the Ravens either...

Hey Yeet, thanks for checking in. Yeah, I think Mccoy made a mistake picking the panthers over the browns, but maybe he wanted to play against his old team 2x a year, really try to stick it to them. I’m actually pretty interested to see how ur team does this year, would be cool to see them win a playoff spot. And with baker, obj, garrett, hunt, landry and chubb, they’ve got plenty of talent and personality.

I thought I had a few bottles of the goya adobo seasoning, but now that im looking I can only find the one, but I get it from my sister in law, who likes to try a bunch of spices and the ones she doesn’t use anymore she gives to me.

Im not too familiar with traditional filipino cuisine, we have a couple of Jollibee’s around here and I enjoy their fried chicken and spaghetti and mango-peach pies, ive had filipino eggrolls before but not sure if ive had filipino adobo (meat simmered in vinegar soy sauce garlic and peppercorns). Stuff looks like it has a ton of flavor though.
The Mexican adobo seasoning seems like it would be good on fajita meat, skirt steak, grilled chicken. Ur right, it’s real strong, probably because it’s ground so fine. U ever make skirt steak on the grill? It’s one of my favorite cuts, can be kind of expensive unless it’s on sale though, and also really chewy if cooked through unless you use a meat tenderizer like adolphs or a tenderizing marinade on it…

I mean, I wouldn’t mind going to culvers or steaknshake for a special occasion, the burgers are just a shade under a fancy place in terms of quality and if you don’t mind not having a waiter or fancy surroundings I’d leave just as full and happy as I would from a much more expensive meal. So no shame in going to I&O for a b-day, in fact ive been jonesing for some I&O style burgers since we talked about them a month ago. There’s some mom and pop shops around the city that sell an I&O style burger that im itching to try out, if I ever do ill upload pics and a report.

The thing with the rams though is that if they do decide to move on from goff, they would need a top 5 pick to get a highly rated college qb next year, someone like tua or Herbert. Theyre going to be good again this year so they would probably need to trade a lot of draft capital to move up into the top 5, something like two 1sts and two 2nd rd picks, maybe a 3rd and 4th rd picks too. That hurts building up the rest of their team with cheap talent through the draft, but like you said, it would save them a ton of money at the QB position at least.

im hoping goff is able to take another step up as a qb and the rams resign him to a long term deal
hes tasted some success and i think he is smart enough to see where his problem areas are
/field vision, reading defenses and playing under pressure
he knows the system and i dont really hear about any bad chemistry so i think hes a good fit as long as he can lead the offense on the field
/especially with out having to be spoon fed his reads
so we went to popeyes chicken yesterday
this stuff is like crack man!
we got a few pieces of bird, some tenders and a couple sides
grinding!
yeah the i&o style is pretty popular, fresh burger with thousand island sauce with all the toppings is the old school eay i guess
we went out for a fancier dinner later but the mrs knows how much i like i&o and just treated
yeah i used to make a ton of skirt steak but as its gotten more popular the price has gone up
it used to be dirt cheap so you could get it and as long as you worked with it it came out just fine
like you said it helps to put some marinate on it, i start with a base of like garlic and onions but will squeeze oranges into it too; the citrus softens it up and gives it a hint of sweet
i still [pick it up from time to time (costco has this arrachra steak that is bomb! its not as cheap as plain meat but its been marinated ) but often you can find deals for the same price for better cuts
ive had jollybees before!
"flip" fast food brah; yuo gotta love it
they have chopped up hot dogs in their noodles and the lumpia and like one half inch; more like lumpia bites
but their chicken is dank and its pretty good stuff
thats super cool of your sister to share her spices with you, sounds like you come from a family of foodies!
hope you are eating good this weekend brother and enjoying yourself

That game Goff had against the vikings the first month of the season, he was playing as well as ive seen any qb ever play. He was just dropping 30 yd bombs right into his receiver's hands for scores, defender was in good coverage just a foot or two away, receiver didnt even break stride. Think he had 4 tds that game. Vikings D didnt start off well last season, but the year before they were like #1 in the league, so i thought goff and that rams O (3 good WRs plus gurley) was just dynamite.
And then he had that classic shootout with mahomes and the rams on MNF, another 400yd 4td game for him, still probably the most entertaining nfl game in recent memory for me.

So yeah, MVP goff wins games for you, against good or even great teams. The goff that played vs the bears and patriots, eh, not so much. He's like trubisky in that regard, beats up on defenses playing poorly, struggles to put up pts against good D's. I mean, that's what good D's do, make it tough for offenses to score, and even all time greats like brady and peyton can put up duds, but still he needs to be better and more consistent against good D's. But hey, this will only be his 4th year in the league coming up, i figure most qb's dont hit their peak until year 7-8.

Popeyes is great chicken, i think i prefer their chicken over KFC, although KFC extra crispy is bomb as well. I like the sides too, red beans and rice and their mashed potatoes with their slightly spicy gravy are great. And if the biscuit is fresh, warm and buttery, drenching it in honey is how i like to eat it.

Yeah, anything with some acid (citrus fruits, vinegar etc) breaks down the meat and makes it more tender, some fruits like pineapple and kiwi i think have some sort of enzyme that does the same thing, it's what's in powdered meat tenderizer like adolphs. Skirt steak is real chewy without it, maybe it's not a big deal if youre eating it on a plate with fork and knife but if youre making sandwiches with it youll want it pretty tender. I saw emeril lagasse on his cooking show, he grilled skirt steak with a chimichurri sauce and put it in a roll and had an audience member take a bite, he asked how was it but the guy could barely rip off a chunk with his teeth.

Ur right tho if skirt steak is like $8/lb i keep thinking i can just pay a dollar more and get ribeye, or $3-5 more and get filet.

The spaghetti at jollibee is a bit of a trip, sweeter than most american spaghetti and with hot dog chunks, makes u think this is some garbage spaghetti made with leftovers, but it's actually pretty tasty imo and my dad likes it so we keep ordering it, it's no worse than any other fast food dish really. The filipino egg rolls i didnt know were called lumpia, when i first tried them as a kid i was a little taken aback with the solid tube of meat inside, i was used to loose meat filling in egg rolls, so texture-wise i didnt care for it but now i dont think id have an issue, although i havent had one in years. Most restaurant egg rolls, from chinese takeouts and buffets, are pretty garbage anyway, it's like they took a bunch of leftovers and made egg rolls out of that or theyre factory made with barely any meat and shipped frozen to the store.

More like my sis tries a bunch of online recipes once and then never makes it again, and gifts me her old spices. I dont mind though, i dont think theres a shelf life on most of this stuff...
