new "secret techniques" to bust growers?

Just heard this on my local news this morning.
Location and names edited for obvious reasons.

"People growing marijuana at home in Some County might want to abandon that particular “green” effort.
Using secret techniques, Some County sheriff deputies are busting far more home-based pot operations.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged an City man after deputies raided his home the day before and found 14 marijuana plants and a quantity of the harvested weed.
That is the seventh such home raid this year in the county, including one at the house of a former officer in the sheriff’s department. That compares to no such pot raids last year, said Deputy Fuckwad.
He attributes the increase not to more pot growing but to more enforcement efforts and better techniques.
“We’ve got much more innovative ways of coming across them,” he said of the houses, details of which he would not reveal.
The raid this week at the home in City resulted in charges against Poor Guy, 49.
He is charged with possession with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun, not having a drug tax stamp and criminal use of explosives for having professional grade black power and capped metal pipes.
He had his first court appearance Wednesday."

So what do you guys think these "secret techniques" could be.
As a very small CFL grower do you think I'd have anything to worry about?

I mean you'd think the former officer would have known how to beat the system.

Damn, the law! Maybe I'll keep the system up and grow something else.
Are there any plants the use the same light cycles as our herb? Would love to have them raid me when I'm growing radishes or something.

If you follow those rules, there is a 99.999% chance you will never be caught by law enforcement and convicted.

Be scared of those mini remote-helicopters that were mentioned here from Amsterdam (I think), the ones that can detect the molecular odor (or something) of marijuana from a chimney or an exhaust vent from your house..

if there is a new hydro shop in your area, they may just stake that out.
if you are just doing cfl, there is nothing to worry about, in my opinion. as long as nobody knows what you are doing, you should be good.
under 2k grows are pretty hard to find as long as you do it right.
their new secret could just be ir, but thats illegal without a warrant.
i would NOT close shop just for that, scare tactics at its greatest.

edit: even if they got a copter, you need a warrant, you just cant go flying around looking for grow houses.

maybe he did know how to be the system.. but didnt know where to buy a carbon filter... or how to insulate properly or he got snitched on.... sall fuckin scare tactics mayne the po love showing off their new shit... damn when the feds where i live got new faster cars they made a fuckin tv show about it that gets as much air time as friends..... we all knew as soon as they got their mits on tazers and when they started using flir.. their chattin outta their arses

I do feel better now though after everyone's posts.
Going to finish out this and then grow some tomatoes. Hell I don't even have 150W. I haven't told anyone about this but my wife does know. No way around that one. I got away with it for a long time. I have no smell at all unless I stick my nose in em.

In my opinion if they can put a cruise missile down a chimney or through a door then finding a few plants shouldnt be much of a headache.If you think of heat seeking missiles what about heat seeking grow room missiles in the form of a kind of Radar summin simular to that,One thing i say about all weed forums the amount of people who over worry about getting caught is unbelievable i would be more gutted losing my eqipment and the gear i was growing anyway just a thought to ponder on

Do power companies really screen for regular spikes in usage (as reported by smart meter)? I mean, during the winter or summer people run a/c (HVAC or big window units) or small heaters (1500w+) during the evenings. Is it the regularly precise 12/12 spike that raises red flags on what I assume are automated screens run by utility company?

Totally agree with Mitch Conner about (illegal) selling. The more people who know you're growing, the higher risk you run of being ratted out. Heck, don't even tell friends about a legal grow.

man, no worries.. a county is big, no way to find you.. even if you told us your street, there is really no way to know what house you live at..

all is good man, 150 watts is undetectable. even from a chopper. computers use way more then that, and put out as much heat if not more.. there are alot of appliance hogs these days so you have nothing to worry about.. take a light fixture for example, that could house up to 4 60-100 watt bulbs.. thats way more for a lighting fixture then your grow.. some nicer homes have high wattage floods in there ceiling at multiple fixtures.... 150 is no way of knowing your turning on your porn or your grow..


good not telling anyone, just keep it that way ,and your basically set.
