Nevada Legislature Has Fucked Patients

I just got conformation that under the new law, SB 447, that if a patient makes cannabis infused butter or infused oils, such as olive or vegetable oils, you are now a felon. Concentrates in ANY FORM can cause you to be charged with a class c felony.
Thanks for nothing.
Dems and Repubs alike voted for this bill.
Every Dem and Rep in the Senate voted in favor
All but 6 Republicans voted to pass this shit in the house. Every Democrat in the house voted to pass it.
So much for the Dem's being "Our Friends" eh?

So all edibles are illegal now? Due to an asthma condition, I can only use edibles. Too hard for me to smoke or even vaporize.

I can't really make an edible without cooking oil.

Also, are cookies made with oil illegal or can they only be sold by the dispensaries? (Ya know, the ones that don't exist)

Like I was telling Barn Owl earlier, when you play with the lawmakers and the politicians, you play by their fuckin' rules....

entrapment

Edibles aren't illegal. It's now a felony for a patient to make their own butter or infused oil on their own to make edibles.
Dispensaries will be the only ones allowed to sale infused butters and oils. Buy it from them and then you can make your edibles.
Keep in mind that you will have no control over the potency of the butters and oils they produce. So you get what you get.

Entrapment?
There is no such thing as entrapment in the state of Nevada. LEO can do anything they want to lure you into committing a crime, that would otherwise be considered entrapment, and entrapment will never stand up in court.

I will just say I got all my cookies from one of the dispensaries.

And thank you for the response.

Doubtful that they could prove anything. Stupid politicians make an ineffective law...for what? What is the big deal anyway?

The dispensaries used the legislature to ensure they make a profit by making certain things illegal for the patient to do for themselves..

The casino's have been told that if they get involved with cannabis their gaming license would be in jeopardy. Besides, they want drunks gambling cause they will lose more than some stoner spending all his time sitting in a buffet getting his munchies on.

Too bad that it soo hard to get the politicians to do what is right, instead of what is profitable.

Anyone think about getting the local cannabis advocacy groups involved in the initiative process to change the law? That is very likely the only way anything will get changed.

The problem with the laws being offered lately in my opinion,is that there is no language in the bill to keep the politicians from screwing it up to benefit their point of view,or to deliver cash to their select campaign contributors.

All bills should have language that would direct any needed or wanted changes in the law to the voters directly. The way it is now, they just tweak the bills to benefit their friends.

That explains it pretty good. Like California med growers opposing legalization in CA to preserve their empire.

Fuck 'em, my oil is always better that theirs.

Thanks again, resinryder

There is a so called advocacy group called WECAN or WECANN I can't remember if it's 1 N or 2 nor do I really care.
It's headed up by a woman that wants nothing more than to make money off patients. This group actually was in favor of the legislature taking away a patients right to grow their own marijuana. That is until the MME she was going to be affiliated with didn't get selected for a state license in the approval/selection process. Last I heard she is now saying the no grow provision is wrong. Funny how assholes change their pucker when THEIR financial option turns to shit.
How a "patients advocate" could in anyway be in favor of letting the legal system fuck over patients is despicable.
I have no use for the bitch or her ovary hugging group.

This is an extremely brutal description of WECAN, but there are some truths to it.
I don't believe WECAN is a group that can handle the particular problem that they have created for patients to grow their own medicine. Possibly LVNORML could take stand in this, but their hands are full in ensuring everybody votes to create an adult use market in Nevada. Truthfully the best way, in my opinion, is find local MMEs to help lobby for patient rights to access medicine from their own sources. Most groups would be completely against it due to theoretical loss of profits, but there are a few that do feel patients should have that privilege. Also reach out to Vegas Cannabis Magazine, they do a great job of actively reaching out to various people in Nevada and bringing these issues to the general population who may not know this regulation exists.
They attempted to remedy this issue by increasing the patients who will be grandfathered in, and potentially safe, and also by adding the specific strain clause - However those are both band aids. Especially when they increased the punishment of processing marijuana in any way, even for making RSO.
