Actually it's a fact...the governemnt and the manufacturers themselves have publicly admitted it..but ok let's pretend that's not a fact...lol..You do realize the technology you are aware of and the technology we actually have are on 2 different planets right..ok..but we will also pretend that they didn't and still don't have the technology to tamper w/ vaccines...I guess they use the vaccines that grow on vaccine trees, and have always done so???

you do know that there are overseas pharmacies right, who can synthesize all these same vaccines independently in their own labs, and provide the same high quality to you far cheaper?

Really? Who are they? Who owns the company? Who are the parent companies?

So what if the polio one is problematic....why not reject just that one, and still get the MMR and other proven vaccines?

But it's not problematic remember? That's all stuff I made up it's not true, hell we don't even have the technology to do that today let alone in the 40s! LOL

I don't have kids, but if I did, I would most certainly get them vaccinated. I would not play Russian Roulette with their lives. If something went wrong and your child died from one of these preventable diseases, you would never forgive your self.
Some kids can die from exposure to peanuts. Does that mean we should ban peanuts/peanut butter for everyone? I think not. All of us are different. We have our own unique weaknesses. If I'm stung by a bee, I'll live, but for some that would be the end. I think on this subject, you must err on the side of caution. There is a risk in everything. Most of us have had surgeries of some sort. We consider them "routine", but there are always exceptions, and a small percentage of people will not survive even a "simple" surgery. People die daily in car accidents, but we all get in the car every day, and we put our kids in them too.
If you've ever watched the show "House", about the brilliant but quirky doctor, there was an episode dealing with this. Bottom line, House convinced the lady, who was only trying to do what she thought was best for her child, that if she didn't get the vaccinations, the chances of something going wrong were infinitely greater than if she did get them. Most vaccinations are safe and life savers for most people. There will always be rare exceptions, just like the kids who can die from peanut butter.

And though rare and localized outbreaks can and have happened the rates have certainly gone down with vaccinations. That is fact.

Are there going to be risks, yes of course, but then again breathing, driving, walking in public, drinking, smoking etc are all risk laden activities.

Life span has risen drastically, outbreaks of many easily transmissible deadly illnesses have been drastically reduced.

But fear of science is prevalent in our society, just like the masters would like...

The last time i heard from an outbreak of polio was 2 years ago and with my tin foil head i do read articles which are different than the info i learned during my microbiology lessons.There seems to be a connection between the use of DDT and polio and how it happend i don't know but there was an outbreak in Uganda and yes they're still using DDT over there against the Malaria mosquito.The same issue is going on in Ghana.

Vaccination against the Measles is going on, but still we have a Measles outbreak, also under the children who are vaccinated.So my question is still if vaccines will help.

Polio Gone but Vaccines Will Continue

9 Apr (New Delhi) - India was taken off the list of polio-endemic countries by the World Health Organization (WHO) two months ago, but the polio eradication campaign will have to be continued in some format forever.

“The long promised monetary benefits from ceasing to vaccinate against poliovirus will never be achieved,” Neetu Vashisht and Jacob Puliyel of the Department of Pediatrics at St. Stephens Hospital in Delhi report in the April issue of Indian Journal of Medical Ethics.

The doctors note that it was long known to the scientific community that eradication of polio was impossible because scientists had synthesized poliovirus in a test-tube as early as in 2002.

“The sequence of its genome is known and modern biotechnology allows it to be resurrected at any time in the lab,” they report. “Man can thus never let down his guard against poliovirus.”

According to the authors it was unethical for WHO and Bill Gates to flog this programme when they knew 10 years back that it was never to succeed. “Getting poor countries to expend their scarce resources on an impossible dream over the last 10 years was unethical.”

They say that another major ethical issue raised by the campaign is the failure to thoroughly investigate the increase in the incidence of non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (NPAFP) in areas were many doses of vaccine were used. NPAFP is clinically indistinguishable from polio paralysis but twice as deadly.

The authors note that while India was polio-free in 2011, in the same year, there were 47500 cases of NPAFP. While data from India’s National Polio Surveillance Project showed NPAFP rate increased in proportion to the number of polio vaccine doses received, independent studies showed that children identified with NPAFP “were at more than twice the risk of dying than those with wild polio infection.”

According to their report, nationally, the NPAFP rate is now twelve times higher than expected. In the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar — which have pulse polio rounds nearly every month — the NPAFP rate is 25 and 35 fold higher than the international norms.

The authors point out that while the anti-polio campaign in India was mostly self-financed it started with a token donation of two million dollars from abroad. “The Indian government finally had to fund this hugely expensive programme, which cost the country 100 times more than the value of the initial grant.”

“This is a startling reminder of how initial funding and grants from abroad distort local priorities,” the authors note. “From India’s perspective the exercise has been an extremely costly both in terms of human suffering and in monetary terms. It is tempting to speculate what could have been achieved if the $ 2.5 billion spent on attempting to eradicate polio, were spent on water and sanitation and routine immunization.”

In conclusion they say that “the polio eradication programme epitomizes nearly everything that is wrong with donor funded ‘disease specific’ vertical projects at the cost of investments in community-oriented primary health care (horizontal programs).”

The WHO’s current policy calls for stopping oral polio vaccine (OPV) vaccination three years after the last case of poliovirus-caused poliomyelitis. Injectable polio vaccine (IPV), which is expensive, will replace OPV in countries which can afford it.

“The risks inherent in this strategy are immense,” Puliyel and Vashisht warn. “Herd immunity against poliomyelitis will rapidly decline as new children are born and not vaccinated. Thus, any outbreak of poliomyelitis will be disastrous, whether it is caused by residual samples of virus stored in laboratories, by vaccine-derived polioviruses or by poliovirus that is chemically synthesized with malignant intent.”

They argue that the huge costs of repeated rounds of OPV in terms of money and NPAFP shows that monthly administration of OPV must cease. “Our resources are perhaps better spent on controlling poliomyelitis to a locally acceptable level rather than trying to eradicate the disease.”

The symptoms of autism tend to become noticeable at around the time vaccinations are given-- the symptoms being differences in the mental/emotional development compared to "normal" children. This doesn't mean the jabs are the cause. The differences are not noticeable in the children until they develop to a certain stage and coincidentally they get the jabs somewhere around that time. Correlation does not equal causation--ever hear the one about cannabis causing schizophrenia.
Parents don't want to accept that sadly-to be blunt shit happens, its a cruel world, nobody ever promised everyone a "perfect" baby, people don't want to accept that it is just chance, or genetics or pure dumb luck that the baby they thought was "perfect" in earlier stages of development, now has this "defect", so they find a way to make it into something that was done to them.
I found that my cannabis plants tended to show their sex at around the time I put them into bigger pots--did the bigger pots cause them to express the sex, or was it just a coincidence of timing and development.

I guess things have changed over the years then. I will concede to not being up to date. It used to be you'd go along to the doctor as a toddler, just before you might start being left at playgroup(daycare).

I don't think you need to do it super early, but it is safer especially since so many people are clueless. My son was vaccinated and he has never been sick. I was too and I've never had a problem. I usually get sick once every winter. This year was the first in 12 years that I got a flu shot, first time in 12 years I didn't get sick. Vaccines work period!

Unavoidably Unsafe

So in my other life (non-autism life) I work in the world of oil spills. I don’t get to do anything glamorous like scrub oil off of swans or pull up alongside oil tankers in my speed boat shouting through a bullhorn. I’m in the back office counting the beans, paying the bills and filing forms with the government. STOP YAWNING – somebody’s got to do it!! But during the daily grind this month, my partner (and hubby) pointed out this opinion piece about “How to Prevent Oil Spills” by Joe Nocera. The basic premise of the NYT article is that in order to make the Big Oil CEOs care about and curb the damage their companies cause you’ve got to send them to jail. Because if you’ve got enough money, fines don’t phase you one bit. Case in point, BP recently unveiled its 2011 net profits of close to $24 BILLION. This is AFTER paying out $22 billion settling claims and paying cleanup costs for Deep Water Horizon. There isn’t a financial slap on the wrist big enough to have these guys re-consider the way they do business. Yep, going to jail would be the only way to incentivize the industry. Except one thing: it’s never gonna happen. Never. Oil is too important to this nation.

So what the heck does this have to do with Thinking Moms? Well, it really gets my panties in a bunch when I think about how everyone was completely up in arms about BP two years ago: Do they have enough insurance to cover DeepWater Horizon? Was there negligence involved? Will there be a criminal investigation? I can tell you there are a lot of checks and balances built into the oil industry. There is insurance and re-insurance. Then there’s that whole liability and gross negligence thing. It’s certainly not perfect, but there are things in place to help replace the environment, economic losses and what not. And as much as I’ve witnessed the oil industry mess with the world to benefit themselves, I was not prepared for an even more manipulative industry to become a part of my world.

What product has grown from approximately $1 billion in revenue in 2001 to $27 billion in 2009? This product also enjoys 100% liability protection. This same product does not have to dip into revenue to fund a program to pay for injuries it creates (but is not liable for). Do you know what I’m talking about? One guess. Vaccines. Simply put, no pharmaceutical executive is weighing the cost vs. benefit of creating a safer vaccine. Or losing sleep over a “hot lot”. No doctor is worrying about how long the Gardasil vaccine was tested for safety or it’s horrible track record. Not. Their. Problem. Congress, in 1986, erased that worry from their balance sheet. So you’ve got an industry making a TON of money from a product that has 100% liability protection. And that protection extends to the folks that administer those vaccines. Woo hoo!!

How did this happen?!

You see, in the 1980s a lot of kids were having adverse reactions to the DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) vaccine. Lots of lawsuits were being filed against docs and vaccine manufacturers. This caused the pharmaceutical industry to make noises about pulling out of the vaccine market, and the alarm bells rang that the nation’s health and safety were at risk. Why were vaccine manufacturers getting ready to take their ball and go home? Because vaccines fall into a class of products considered “unavoidably unsafe”. I am not kidding you. This “unavoidable” word comes from the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act itself “products which, in the present state of human knowledge, are quite incapable of being made safe.” So they TRIED, but sorry, they just can’t come up with vaccines that are safe enough that their risk department will allow them to sell them. Because a HUGE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY sees that even THEY do not have enough money to cover all the expense of fighting and paying injured vaccine recipients. This is an industry that today spends over $200,000,000 A YEAR in lobbyists. Which puts it way ahead of Oil industry in terms of lobbyist expense.

So the Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (that title alone points to fact that vaccines can injure children) in 1986. This releases all manufacturers and administers of vaccines from all liability from any injury caused by a vaccine. Then an interesting thing started happening…



Hmmmm….

As part of this Vaccine Injury Act, vaccine administers had to provide Vaccine Information Sheets (VISs) prior to vaccinating a patient. Parents know these sheets. Betcha didn’t know it was a legal requirement, huh?



These sheets are considered a parent’s or patient’s INFORMED CONSENT. Except there are a couple of things I take issue with. First, vaccines, on this sheet, are referred to as safe – not, as above, where they are classified as UNAVOIDABLY UNSAFE. So unsafe that an entire industry threatened to walk away from producing them if they were not given complete immunity from the fallout. Think about that piece of information the next time someone tells you that vaccines are proven safe. It is not true. I realize that into each life a little risk must fall, but stop telling people that vaccines are completely safe. My second problem with this VIS sheet is that it announces that the chances of having a severe problem from this MMR shot are “extremely small”. I really think that it should tell people that anaphylaxis and encephalopathy are “on table injuries” in the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. An “on table injury” is a vaccine injury that is so common that it is presumed to be caused by the vaccine and is included in a table of more frequently compensated vaccine injuries. By the way, encephalopathy is brain damage.

So – um – I’m sorry, but I did not see those specific words on that on the little yellow flyer they handed to me prior to giving either of my children one of their dozens of vaccines. Nope, UNAVOIDABLY UNSAFE never made it onto that sheet. This drug — which I am told I am REQUIRED to give my child – is considered unavoidably unsafe.

Good thing there is a way to compensate folks for these avoidable injuries and death. It is called the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. From 2001 until 2011 the program has compensated about 2500 families a total of $2 billion. Now, $2 billion might sound like a lot of money, but it really is nothing. It’s about $800,000 per claimant. We all know that $800,000 doesn’t go very far in the care and feeding of a medically fragile individual. Right now the going rate of raising and seeing a child with autism through adulthood is about $3 million. Oh, and that $2 billion? It wasn’t paid by the vaccine manufacturers; it’s paid by the tax payer. The fund is financed by a tax on vaccines. So the purchaser of the vaccine finances this fund. Nice, huh? Even the Oil companies pay into their own fund. But don’t worry fund administrators, most new parents don’t know what encephalopathy looks like until waaaay after the VICP’s statute of limitations have kicked in. By the way, encephalopathy presents as inattentiveness, poor judgment, poor coordination of movements, lethargy, seizures, tremors, twitching, changes in sleeping patterns, headache and stiff neck. Yep, other than crying, not too many of those symptoms would be noticed in a 9 month old…

So go ahead and boycott BP gas stations because they repeatedly have accidents that spill oil and kill employees — but at least BP can be sued in court. They pay their fines and restitution. Hey, you actually have the right to boycott their stations. And the people in your town don’t point at you and call you dangerous or crazy. We run around hand waving about oil companies, when there is a bigger product-safety issue facing every single one of us. One in which we do NOT have informed consent about a product that is inherently unsafe, from a manufacturer that we cannot sue, in an industry that has proven itself to be increasingly less and less trustworthy, and is under increasing pressure to create more and more revenue opportunities. And if we boycott this product we are labeled crazy, dangerous or worse. Much worse.

What the hell can we do?

Talk about it.

@Harry, I will respond to you when I have more time to assemble a response. The "all but vindicated" quip I left you was that there is significant enough evidence make the connection between the two. In the meantime, I suggest taking a look at a 2003 congressional report on mercury in medicine.

The person told me the WHO give their recommendations to each govt, she didn't even deny that the people who are sitting in the board of WHO are suspicious.
