i would line the inside with black & white poly.... and some how create a vvelcro door when you unzip the tent.. that way you can control the light leak. even the rooof and floor should get lined with the poly...
good find however. i would like to have my moms in one of those!

My advice. Take Dongle69's setup. Drop it four lights and switch from her style to perpetual. Maximum productivity, minimal costs. If you want to be a pro those two goals should be the foundation of all your decisions.
I think an easier way is to use grow tents. The boxes are nice, but what if you've got to move it? Can you break it down and put it back together?
With tents you can get some small ones (Homebox makes some) for clones and vegging. You could get one of the larger Secret Jardin tents for flowering. I have a Secret Jardin tent and it's top notch.
All you have to do is add a light and a fan to each and you're done. For the flowering tent you will want to add a carbon filter too, or just keep one in the room where the tents are.
Your questions are too big and too vague. You're asking us to do your work for you. We're here to help you with your plans but, you have to show us a plan before we can help.
What kind of turn around are you looking for every 2 weeks?
How much electrical can you run?
What about odor control?
Method of growing (Organic,hydroponics,bioponics)?
Your picture shows 4 tables/trays each with 16 plants in each trat/table,yet you replied and said you were thinking of a box that fits 6-10 plants...no proffesional harvest there.
I have thought of doing a perpetual SOG in a cab and have designed cabs for a perpetual many a times, just haven't actually gotten to doing it though.
My cab would basically measure 2' x 2.5' or 2' x 3' or 5-6 square feet. The top shelf would contain the flowering section where I would have 20-24 plants in 6" square containers. The bottom shelf would house the mother/clone section where I would house 1-2 moms and up to 10 clones at a time.
In that flowering area if all clones were put in as soon as they were rooted or 1-2 weeks after rooting and set up non perpetual (all harvested at once) that I can maybe get 280 grams or 10oz. every 60 days, cut that in half and I could get 140 grams every 30 days, cut that in half and that would be 70 grams or 2.5oz. every 2 weeks...or I could spend the cash, get a good 8-9 week set of genetics, buy 3 more 400w hid's,start from clone, place 20-30 clones in each 400w cab and harvest up to 280 grams or 10oz. every 2 weeks, buy a 2' 4 or 8 bulb T5HO light for a small mom, veg, clone box and be on to some proffesional style harvests of the minimum.
*NOTE* All weights based on a 14 grams or 1/2oz. per plant ratio.
Hey temunator, it takes work and dedication to build a cab and maintain a perpetual grow. If you can't spend a couple hours researching to figure out what you think the best way is, good luck on actually building the cab. My guess is it will be "in the works" every year.
First of all, you didn't even say how much you want to harvest every two weeks. Oh wait, yes you did, here it is "a good harvest". That tells us a lot, because I only grow bad harvests, so I don't have much to offer there.
"What lights?" Well, it depends on how much you want to harvest, and how much your circuit can hold safely.
"Hydro or Soil?" Personal preference. I wonder how many times that question has been asked?
"How many inline/outtake fans?" Depends on your set-up, air-cooled lights using exterior air = one fan, cab airflow through a carbon filter and exiting the cab = one fan.
"i will buy everything i need as soon as someone here replied and build the box when i got everything" Are you really willing to blindly accept what someone else deems appropriate and risk spending your money on something that doesn't work for you?
I'd suggest you just go to a hydro shop and ask them, they might have installers available too.
im planning the growcab ill be building this winter ^^
need to know what bulbs i should use MH HPS w/e
what fans
what containers for the DWC's
the dimensions of the cab :
height 1meters
lenght 1,50 meters
wide 50-70cm
gonna do a sog for the next 2-3 years without changing anything in the cab (except broken parts)
seeds are on their way to my door
BC Seed Company - Northern Lights #5 - indica
BC Seed Company Big Blue-indica
BC Seed Company Couchlock - Indica
Mandala Seeds - SPEED QUEEN
Mandala Seeds - Mandala #1
G13 Labs AFGHAN MAFIA
im a total indica lover
how much will the equip cost me ?(lamps fans dwc container)
not sure what nutes to use but i think a 3 part formula micro grow bloom ^^
my goal is to pull out 200-300g every 50-60 days (every harvest)
5 moms ...each mom 3 clones every 50 days^^ 3 harvests per mom then after the 3 harvest ill flower them and replace them with some good clones i got from them xD
i could make it a bit bigger if needed
100g will last me 2 months ....the extra weed will be sold to a good(&rich) friend cuz i wont have a job for the next few months^^
With a chamber approx 60x75 cm, 600 watts is asking for serious trouble. I've a 250 in a nearly identical space and struggle with cooling, though my stealth concerns may be stronger than yours.
MH vs HPS vs CMH is too subjective. Many do grows with only one. Many mix and match according to veg or flower. Read the CMH thread before deciding as it covers the basic points of MH and HPS as well as CMH.
Venting for dummies says the area of intake should be double that of the exhaust. With a single intake, you'll seriously choke the fan and greatly reduce your ability to cool.
Well...hahaha... I love ya FreezerBoy...you grows and skills are top notch... but I'm going to contradict you...hahaha. (SORT OF) He gave you SOLID advice.
Personally, and keeping in mind I am a self proclaimed king of overkill...hahaha...I LOVE to run things a bit MORE than is really necessary. For example. I'll use a 2 x 2 x 6.5 (ft) cabinet and run a 400w in it. I cool the light with a 4" inline, meaning the light is sealed and has its own separate intake/exhaust ducting. I'll cool the cab with a 6" inline that is hooked up to a Can (.38 special) 50 carbon filter. The intake is two 8" darkroom louvers. One on the left side wall and one on the right side wall.
Now...there is NEVER a problem with this set up. I can use the exact setup in a 3.5 x 3.5 (ft) with a 1000w bulb with the only difference being a 6" inline fan attached to the light.
My point is this. If you get enough air flow in a small space, then temps aren't an issue, regardless of how much light you are putting in the space.
Freezerboy hit the nail on the head by saying, "it depends on what you security concerns are"...simply because two inline fans right on top of each other can sound like a small wind tunnel is in your house...so I suppose it really is something that MUST be considered.
Me, I like to think of anything being possible, but you just have to factor in all the different variables. For each and every element of a grow room, there are other factors that have to be considered or adjusted...just make sure you have all the elements covered.
What Frank has so graciously failed to mention is that I'm abnormally obsessed with stealth.
If you can lock them away in the attic or behind locked doors, centrifugal fans (Vortex, Elicent, etc) can be tamed noise-wise to contain the noise inside the room. I'm a hide in plain sight, paranoid guy and it DOES affect my responses to questions.
For a 200-300gram harvest every 60 days the smallest area I would go would be 2' x 2.5' but more like 2' x 3' for the flowering area.I would hang a 400w HPS in an a/c reflector.
If doing a soil SoG I would use 6" square pots, that way you can fit up to 24 plants or 4 plants per square foot.Once the clones reach 4"-6" and have a decent mass of roots I would induce flowering as indicas are known to stretch 2x their height in flower so you can expect plants to finish around 12"-18" tall when harvested. With those plant numbers I would assume 10-14 grams per plant dried bud weight,so that would equate to 240-336 grams of dried and cured bud.
Since you don't have a lot of head room I would suggest building the cab up to measure atkeast 4.5' tall if not as close to 6' as you can get, especially if you plan on running hydro which takes up vertical space.
Depending on what you plan on doing I would make the veg area 1/4-2/3 the size of the flowering area, but if you plan o keeping moms, rooting clones, and vegging clones in the same area you may want to make it slightly larger.
I would think a 250w MH would do the trick for vegging.
For ventilation of the flowering area I would use a 6" inline centrifugal (can fan, elicent, vortex, eco plus) connected to a Can 50 filter or a DIY carbon filter of equal dimensions.Passive intakes (louvered drakroom vents) for a negative pressure environment.
You could use the same fan to air-cool the light but if you want to do a proper air-coled light you'll need a 4" inline centrifugal or a a 6" inline centrifugal on a speed controller.
This would be my option for doing a SoG with a goal of 200-300 grams per harvest:
The big section is obviously for flowering and the inner dimension are 2' d x 3' w.The bottom section on the other side is the rooting clone/veging clone area, the section to the top of that is for the mother plants...both sections are lit by 2' 4 bulb t5 lighting systems.
The flowering chamber uses 1x 6" inline centrifugal to both air-cool the 400w HPS and ventilate the flowering area. The two areas lit by t5's are ventilated using standard axial/pc fans.
Becuase this cab would have two doors you can easily work on the moms, rooting clones and vegging clones without worries of light leaking into the dark flowering room when the flowering area light is off.
