Medicinal Effects of Strains

Interesting old thread. Dr" Jay had a high CDB strain clone of my sweet Cindy.

What is considered high CBD now? I need to get a high CBD strain tested.

You know my sour bubble and lifesaver or sour lifesaver can be great for pain and the high cog in sour bubble makes the pain killing effects last longer. CBG is .9 and CBN is .04

The thc was 23.5 in the last test but we had a total resin weight of 30.5 which would indicate higher thc around 27 minimum. The last test was at 53 days flowering.

I thought I would add a couple of strains I find useful to this list.

Nepalese Jam:

It's a sativa but it isn't particularly racy and works well for stomach issues and decently for pain. It's a bit dreamy but it definitely doesn't leave you in a drooling stupor unlike a lot of the painkilling strains I have tried. It has a nice sociable effect and makes you want to do things unless you smoke too much. Its not particularly good for sleep but it doesn't really keep you up either.

Destroyer:

This strain is a pure sativa and works well for my migraines. It is strong and stimulating and elevates mood. It leaves you functional and motivated unless you smoke too much in which case its a bit too trippy to keep yourself organized and on task. Other than migraines it does little for pain. It works well for nausea but doesn't really give me the munchies. It can prevent you from sleeping much like caffeine if you smoke it too late in the day.

Since it controls nausea, can't this be used to control chemo induced nausea and vomiting? There may be an added advantage as an antidepressant for these patients. Is it already used this way?

I think that would be a good use for strains like Destroyer and Nep Jam along with other uplifting Sativas. I know a there are quite a few patients including myself that prefer Sativas for there mood lifting effects and the fact that they tend to be more clear headed. I actually avoid most indicas due to the mental side effects. Heavy indicas will often make me listless, apathetic and more depressed. They sometimes leave me in a stupor that I find quite unpleasant.

I think like all medicines, it varies a lot from person to person so everyone will be different but most patients I have known who have tried Nep Jam and Destroyer seem to agree that they are good daytime medicine and that they have an uplifting effect on mood. I know of one cancer patient that was very fond of Nepalese Jam. She found it excellent all around medicine which soothed her nausea, took some of the edge off her pain and helped her feel better mentally as well.

Doesn't allowing your plants to go a little 'past' the normal harvest time change the balance of VOC's in favour of CBD & CBN?

I've found this strain fairly recently in the san jose area. I really need a strain that will help me move focus away from the pain but not stone me too severely or put me to sleep. I'm finding the strains in the 18-20% thc range, based on whatever they do in some dispensaries in sj to determine that. Most recently was one called Thin Mint GS Cookies. That worked pretty good. But just got this one and this one is great. Helps with the pain but it also lifts me up so that I can actually work ( a part of my job is in communications ). It's also very tasty, nice tasting exhale and smooth on the throat. Buds are nicely compacted and appear to store well. So I got a 6 month supply :thank you:

If you don't want stoney, sleepy, the unscientific but well established aggregate user consensus is that 'indica' like phenotypes may be stoney, and 'sativas' more clear. I don't want to get into a classification controversy so let's not make things complex with discussions of afghanica or narrow-leaf, broad-leaf, etc., and just talk about indica-like or sativa-like.

Blue dream is a common club favorite. It is more 'sativa'. I wouldn't expect anyone to be too stoned off of it as if they were to smoke the same amount of equally potent paki or afghan kush or hashplant or purp. Less sleepy, less couch-lock, more clear-headed, but at higher intake, anything will put you down.

If you really truly don't care for a high, 3-1 or 2-1 or 3-2 ratio CBD-THC phenotypes are probably of interest. There would be less or little 'high'. CBD-only would not be as effective in pain management, but I would expect different people to have different experiences with the same strain.

It is my opinion that CBD and THC work synergystically for pain management.

In favor of CBN, yes, in favor of CBD, no.

CBDN is to CBD as CBN is to THC, as in the former are oxidation products with 2 aromatic rings.

Don't ask me what the effects of CBDN are, I don't know. But you can find a lot of literature on CBN.

Eureka! guess what, FINNALY I have proof that marihuana IS medicinal! here's what happened:

so couple of weeks back I bit something and fuckedup my tooth...no. 5 right, down. It hurt like a madafaka for a day or two and then just went away(no meds whatsoever just joint on joint but it just didn't help right away)... so then a painless week, dentist visit - couple of pils, injections, blablabla(he tried to fix it...a rooten tooth...) anyway, couple days ago I just couldn't bare it anymore so I took it out...with a plier. just like old days :) and then some more weed to smoke and just feel asleep...next day - pain - joint....sleep...and then ok again... but... a few hours ago I took a bite at a cookie and WHAM!?! here comes the pain! not funny but now it is :) let me give you my "recipe": just take a decent sized BUD(I don't know what strain it was since I wasn't at my home) that has quite some cristals over it and SHOWE IT IN YOUR HOLE! dont chew, open your mouth, talk,...NOTHING. just sit still and relax, it will take just couple of mins and you'll be like the happiest little madafaka ever :) then just eat it or let it sit there or spit it out...it up to you...

so now you have it. no bs, try it if you don't belive me. but just don't go and knock your teeth out just to test this :)

p.s. didn't read the whole topic and if somebody else already "found" this, I apologise for that.

peace! :)

Dogon

I regard it as very therapeutic Sour Diesel (riri) My mother helps cataract very well, and ointment is applied to psoriasis where the results are surprisingly good 80% success rate.
moreover, so wonderfully tasty.

Hi there, thanks for sharing the medical effects of various strains. As I know someone that is really rather quite ill I will definitely use this as a great resource to look back on and decide what to do next!
