Oregon has some of the strictest laws regarding agriculture in the entire nation. That's kinda my point about this initiative. Review the current Fertilizer Stop Sale list from the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

Keep in mind that this list has absolutely nothing to do with organic farming - that area is completely and totally controlled by Oregon Tilth and you talk about anal - LMAO

I glanced through 502 and the following jumped out at me;

NEW SECTION. Sec. 5. Neither a licensed marijuana producer nor a
licensed marijuana processor shall have a direct or indirect financial
interest in a licensed marijuana retailer.

(12) Specifying procedures for identifying, seizing, confiscating,
destroying, and donating to law enforcement for training purposes all
marijuana, useable marijuana, and marijuana-infused products produced,
processed, packaged, labeled, or offered for sale in this state that
do not conform in all respects to the standards prescribed by this act
or the rules of the state liquor control board.

(b) Employees of the department of health, who are so designated
by the board as enforcement officers are declared to be peace officers
and shall be vested with police powers to enforce the drug laws of
this state, including this chapter.

What I did not notice, is if it effects an individual's rights to grow for personal use, medical or otherwise. Anybody?

Can you imagine more civil servants with the authority of police?

Found a decent study and it seems Kaolin is less absorbent than bentonite is so that is one negative. They are very similar though:

It also has a different chemical composition as it seems bentonite has Ca and K while kaolin has none.

*I find it conflicting that mountainroseherbs site says kaolin clay has Ca and Mg?

Kaolin Clay is high in calcium, silica, zinc and magnesium

I would stick with bentonite safe bet it seems the cation exchange will differ between the two as well.

Thank you for both of your answers I will steer clear of it. Reason I asked was because I found it locally for only $6.00 for a 50 lb bag verses ordering bentonite online for $50.00 including shipping since I haven't been able to source that one locally yet that is not cut with something else.

Some of those studies mentioned that somehow the cation effect of the soil was different with the two different types of clay. Memory is vague I merely glossed over it while I was doing my dumpster diving research effort.

Here is one of them although there was another:
