I'm 50 y/o so I kinda grew up with classic rock. Now I collect old stoner tunes. (I occasionally DJ parties on Second Life. My handle is LoShta Xue)
I didn't read the whole thread so maybe these have already been mentioned but anyway..

The Ozak Mountain Daredevils - If Yiou Wanna Get to Heaven
Brewer and Shipley - Oh Mommie, and One Toke Over the Line
Jonathan Edwards - Shanty
Country Joe McDonald - The Fish Cheer
Arlo Guthrie - Comin' Into Los Angeles
Kenny Rogers - Condition
Commander Cody - Down to Seed and Stems Again Blues
There's probably 100 more I can't think of right now. I'm open to suggestions too, I surely don't remember them all.

I used to love concerts back in the day. I was lucky enough to see the Allman Bros. band (w/ Dickie Betts and his red guitar) at an outdoors concert, in an amphitheater that was facing a hill, in The Saratoga Springs, NY State Park in the late 70's. The opening band was The Outlaws. We, at one time during the concert, just sat on the grassy hill, passing joints, with the "stateies" standing in groups a few feet away. They didn't hassle stoners because, even way back then, they knew we are a peaceful bunch and weren't about to cause any trouble. Now I see where the Doobie Bros. (or what's, left of 'em anyway) are gonna be in Atmore, AL April 23. I'd have to pay $54 each, for shitty seats in a Casino. I'll pass, thanks. Oh well. Progress?

And I saw Arlo Guthrie in Ithaca,NY, back in the day, at an old "landmarked" theater, from the balcony, and they even had a little wine bar concession stand set-up in the back. Very cool. Wuh happened?

I can't really add anything to the old classics listed here, but a newer song has a line in it I love:

Sublime - "Love is What I got"

The line is "I don't get angry when my mom smokes pot". Especially good when my kids would sing that to me with doobie in hand...

"cuz we're gonna lay around the shanty mama, and get a good buzz on", still my favourite toking song :D

"hey little girl" by the syndicate of sound (good remake by the dead boys) ... "i had too much to dream last night" by the electric prunes ... "incence and peppermint" by the stawberry alarm clock ... "she's about a mover" by the sir douglas quintet ... "ain't that peculiar" by marvin gaye ... "sex machine" by james brown ... "shapes of things" by the yardbirds ... "sunny afternoon" by the kinks ... "1969" by the stooges ... "bobby mcgee" as done by janis ... "the weight" and "chest fever" by the band ...

You old timers are such a hoot.

You old timers are such a hoot.

NO Steppenwolf? Only the slightest mention of the Mcoys by Hoosierdaddy. No Detroit Wheels, Amboy Dukes, I got burnt out on Bob Seeger, There was more music than Hippie music. But as a Freak I generally like the Hippie music. Good concerts not shows, oh I got to say Steppenwolf, I saw The Who w/K Moon, Jefferson Airplane, in the summer of '71. Good times in, you won't believe this, Seaside Heights NJ. I was at Ft Dicked NJ. But a concert I always remember is Humble Pie in '72. Great concert.

I have eaten a good bit of Ft. Dixhead sand.

The Dukes were the blossom, Terrible Ted was the progeny! One of my personal heroes.

I used to really dig steppenwolf, I think I got all their stuff.

You know I smoked a lot of grass...
Oh lord, I popped a lot of pills..
But I never touched nothin...
That my spirit could kill...

I’m crapping out, but there are many more that I enjoyed and still do.

One thing that you younger guys will never experience is buying a new, possibly even a double album with a surprise poster in there. The album cover, so big compared to a cd case, always had cool graphics and pictures and usually info about the band and songs. I have spent more than a few moments listening to an album for the first time while looking at and reading the cover and sleeve. You should buy an album or two on ebay or something, even if you have no way to play it, just to see what I mean. Also, there is A Lot of awesome music on those albums that were never and will never play on radio...And some need to be heard in sequence, as in, just put it on and listen to the whole album...ie Rush & Floyd...

This part should go on the where is your turntable page…remember the album cleaners? Wood handle that stored some kind of solution that you put on the felt side of the “handle” and cleaned the album as it spinned, before putting the needle on and playing it…
