how long do u veg before u transplant and how long do u veg in 3gallon?

I don't have set rule, I just go by 1) how much medicine I need and how quickly and 2) the individual needs of each plant.

This time I vegged them until they were about 3-4 internodes tall, which is what I aim for (about 8-10" tall). That height works about perfect for my cab once they stretch in flower. Any taller and some strains would shoot right past my light (not had that problem yet, but I've come close once). Thanks for dropping in.

Once they hit the 3 gallons, typically, they're in flower since those pots don't fit well in my veg room (this grow was an exception since I didn't have anything in the flower room, I was able to veg them in the flower room for a bit before going 12/12).

Chop Chop! With pictures

Chop Chop! With pictures

So Saturday was chop day for our Pure girl (indica pheno). She was sacrificed on day 61 of flower, taken when most new growth had slowed or stopped entirely and the frosty trich's were nearly 100% cloudy. She smelled real sweet and not much like new grassy growth. Total weight was 84g wet, which when dried will yield approximately 1oz. give or take a gram.

The other girls are doing great. The Pure girls are starting to really ripen, with new growth still coming but lots of orange hairs and frost as well. They both smell still of new growth at the top, but they're starting to take on a sweeter aroma on the secondary buds. They're continuing to shrivel and yellow up nicely right where they should be. I think this past weekends watering will be the last for these two. They'll probably come down around day 65.

The Kali Mist still has a good 20-30 days to go, according to the info I can find. She's frosty as the North Pole though, and she's even putting an an orange pistil or two (though very few). Her fans started lightening up a bit, so I gave her a little dose of high N guano tea last watering to keep her green for a bit still. She smells extremely sweet and pungent; very fruity with a hint of grape. I'm amazed at how frosty the sugar leaves are, and the frost is even considerable on some of the fan leaves. She's going to be wonderful medicine I can tell.

Unfortunately, no sight of the Abusive Kush seedlings yet. Still keeping the rockwool moist and under the dome at night, but during the day I take the dome off to give them direct, warm light. I'm hoping they break the surface in the next few days...if not, I'll have to go pick up a few new clones. Can't have productive space in the flower room empty for long!

Oh, the presumed Powdery Mildew problem? I've been plucking any leaves or parts of leaves that show even the slightest sign of fuzz, and we've also had the space heater on during the colder days, and it seems to have helped the issue. So, not sure of it was PM, or just some other sort of fungus, but it's under control.

As you'll see, I took a tester from the Pure girl we took down. I accidentally chopped a little secondary bud off and had nothing to hang it by, so I decided to dry it out in the microwave and give it a go. It dried out rather nicely in about 30 seconds. The smoke was sweet and a bit harsh, but overall not so bad (obviously hasn't been cured). The effect was amazing, if a bit unripened. I can't wait for the cure to finish! I hope to have the buds in jars in the next few days, and it'll get at least 2 weeks until I break into it. As we go more perpetual, I can cure longer without having to break into it so soon.

Looking mighty fine there KJ! Congrats on a fine harvest!

I must tell you that very-very soon I will be joining you in the 250 watter club!. I can also hint that things are this far already: the 250 is SO DARN BRIGHT compared to the CFLs I've used so far. I hope I can get somewhere near as nice results as you do, sir!

peace,

Thank you! One girl down, 3 to go (for now).

Welcome to the club! You're going to love your 250. Every once in a while I think to myself that I should upgrade to a 400, as I know my cab can handle the temps (at least, 75% of the year...might have to make some mods to bring that up). But then I think "why? The 250 is hassle free, produces great medicine, and is sufficient to meet your current needs and situation". Yeah, the nerdy angel on my shoulder wins out every time (thus far!).

As for results, just keep an ear to the ground here at IC Mag and you won't go astray! Tons of good info, lots of great growers. There's a lot to learn, but you couldn't be in a better environment.

Bad news: none of the Abusive seeds are going to do anything. I tore open a few of the rockwools (carefully, in case one was good) and they all looked in stasis...like they had stopped all activity since they were put in the rockwool. They didn't look all vigorous when they went in, the way the Pure's did, so I guess they were never really much good to begin with.

Good news: we added a Lemon Skunk clone to the veg room today! She went right in ferted LC's under the veg room light. I hope to move her into the flowering room in the next week. She had quite the root system already. I did a little research on the forum before picking her up and I was rather pleased with what I read and saw. Excited to see what happens with her! Neemed up and ready to go.

The most recent harvest has been moved from the drying box to the jar and is coming along nicely. We ended up with 27g, just shy of an ounce. But it's primo, you can tell. It's going to be powerful medicine. The aroma is really starting to come into its own, as is the color. Most of the pistils went orange and the leaves a gray-ish purple...or something. Rather pretty. I'll take a pick of the cured nugs in a while.

So I'm about to harvest our other 2 Pure girls! Wooohoo!! They're looking mighty, might fine too. I hope they come in at more than an oz. per plant. I'll post pics as soon as I can (might be tonight, might be tomorrow).

The new Lemon Skunk clone is taking to her new environs well. She's getting a an LK/EWC/Molasses watering tonight, along with the Kali Mist.

Man, I was made for this...I love farming our little garden!

The Herer harvest - Pure's chopped at day 66 (pics!)

So in light of the fact that one of my personal hero's has died (R.I.P Jack Herer), I have decided that I will dedicate the harvest of these two Pure plants to him on the day of his death. I here declare this harvest the Herer Harvest and each and every time it is consumed as medicine it will be done in the honor of Jack, for all he's done for cannabis.

I feel blessed to have been able to meet him during a time when things were looking up for his health and for this movement. I will never forget those times and the joint we all shared Jack! Your words will never be forgotten. We will see your dream to fruition, we promise!

So, silly me forgot to take pictures of the Pure girls before the chop....doh! I was a bit distraught having just heard the news of Jack's death and wasn't really thinking about it I guess. So all you get are pictures of the crowns of each plant after harvest. God they turned out nice! They aren't trimmed to perfection yet because the part of the buds closest to the main stem were hard to reach. So I'm going to go over them a second time just before I put them in the jars, after having cut them from the stem. Should be easy to reach then.

I still owe you a pic of the Kali Mist too, which I'll get to this afternoon.

Totals? Well, the "runt" pheno pulled in 102g wet, and the "tall" pheno 119g. Not bad at all! I was hoping for a tad more, I'll admit, but I'll take just over an ounce per plant at this point in my career as a cannabis farmer. :joint:

I should have put something in the pic for reference...oh well. They're both about as long as 4-5 regular Bic's laid end-to-end.

So here's the other picture I promised, and a surprise pic since I'm a dork and failed to take pics of the Pure girls before chop!

Isn't the Kali just looking so damn delectable!? You'll notice we staked her up...she was leaning just a bit and getting heavier every day, so I figured we should give her a bit of support.
