Yea....I'm Lazy....What's Your Point?

Yea....I'm Lazy....What's Your Point?

Geez....Thanks LSY....you know how to twist the knife.

Then your fav part, the trimming. Lets hope you get to go fishing again this year. I might work all that out early before all the trimmers are taken up, lol.

I'm not even close to done planting....and you have to remind me what may be coming up. That's months away ...and you know what I'll do to that donkey if I get there.

Remember...I'm retired...:dance013:

I will find time to fish. Weekends are too crowded anyway. I'll fish when the rest of the island is working. And work when the rest of the island is fishing.

Your tent looks good...

You are the regrow expert here. All I am doing is using our natural photoperiod. No skill involved. Nature does it all. I just have to make sure the seeds are planted on time. Skill?....Pffttt. Got none.

This year I am going for trees, so I planted a couple of weeks later than last year. Plants should declare early, but my first harvest is just a taste of what's to come. With the early spring I have no clue how this will work. The gulch is planted with new strains. Another unknown.

Which brings us to a few strains I am familiar with. Below are baseline pics of the bottom garden, and the two new holes. All have my Thai crosses in them. These I know will get big. How big? Come back in six months.

And yes...I know that starts are boring. They all look pretty much alike. They represent potential....nothing more. We are going the distance with this log, and this is admittedly the slow part. Starts are a link in the chain.

It would be easier to start this fucker in August. Then it would not be a grow log...and I'd like to slip to the last few pages now and see how it ends....sorry....it don't work that way.

So bear with me. Right now I got nothing. So I'll dump these pics and forget about the house for a month.

Just remember to turn the hose off before my nap.

Ok so what would you call those last year, because they look like tree/bushes to me. Man if you could grow them to 6-7', when it re veg's, it will look like a apple tree, but them arenot apples on them trees. That would be sweet. And the holes are spread out pretty good, it looks to me. If thats what your thinking, oh man iv been miss using ''monster's''.

BUT I can see ya trying for sure. retired, your just about my age and making more work for yourself even if you were working, lol. And il bet the insurance isn't all that great.....

Take all the time ya need bro, il be watching anyway. I have picked up a few things i can use here. I like the tent, but i just cant seem to dry my weed worth a crap. It always gets to dry, but then after jar, it smells like field grass and i burp the jar? Maybe a practice thing.

Oh and because you might think its not interesting, but there are a lotta people that reads every bit of it. So now im all pumped about watching them grow into tress. But your talking about first grow and not re veg plants into tress, right? Them cages you build can be built up high id think, but more work i guess.

I only knew how much it took to trim so lining it up today is something you can forget about it later. I like to plan ahead, lol.

Keep er green

If you over dry your buds, you can stick a fresh cannabis leaf in the jar overnight,.... the dry buds will suck the moisture out of the wet leaf and re-hydrate nicely! ;)

Drying and curing does take practice,.... i still haven't quite got it down. But at least my last batch would stink the whole house up as soon as we opened a single jar! :D

OH, I'm looking forward to seeing how big those seedlings will get before the end of it all!

I keep one RH meter in the jar, and one out.
Because, in Hawaii, it's counter productive to "burp" your jar anytime the ambient RH is over 70%.

Damit Weez....You're Right.

Damit Weez....You're Right.

I had to go look it up. It was four thousand...for some reason I thought it was ten. You were what....30 when that song came out? The Beatles were almost before my time. :)

And there's probably that many upcountry....only 21 if them are ours though. If they'd only up our plant counts I'd take 30. But I don't think that will happen this year.

Also those 'oles ain't small!

Us donkey boinkers don't retire...nor do the donkeys....go ahead...ponder that for awhile. :blowbubbles:

LSY....What disclaimer do you see at the end of all those investment ads? Oh yea.... Past performance is no guarantee of future returns. Same here.

I know what work looks like...from a distance...this ain't that....this is an adventure. Every once in a while it may smell like work... Then I get to pick up my cross and bitch and whine.

If these regrow I will need the cages. At least two will. If they don't and turn into trees, they should support themselves. Time will tell. I should have an answer in a month or two.

And once again Weez is right. Hawaii is very humid. So it takes forever to dry here. The RH meters are the way to go.

For me I prefer to slightly underdry and freezer it if I need to keep it for months. If I need to store it for a couple of months or less I dry it a bit more, than jar it. As I burn through the jars, I refill them from the freezer. Just leave it out for a day then into the jar.

And Canni....I think I will be able to get these seedlings at least three ft tall. Maybe a little more if I try real hard. :jump:

Have a sunset.

Yeah Weez that was the first thread i read on curing when looking for a ''how to''. I dont have a meter, but was wondering how much they run. I put it in the jar after what seemed to me to be dry enough. I burped it through out the day, but morning came and got that field grass smell. So i have some thats been drying a couple days i thought about adding to the jar to maybe give whats in the jar moisture. Thing is when it was time to be jared, IMO, when i popped the lid the first time it smell like it did coming from the plant. Now its nasty again. I might not be drying enough before putting it into the jar. Sure feels dry to me and dont want all dried up powder. The last of the NL is like that now.

Could be that i dont harvest everything and hang branches. I take the bigger stuff, cut the main stem as low as i can and let the rest of the buds to fatten up. Then i re veg them to go outside. But will be tricky with them kids comin back to rip me off again. Im thinking il just keep them as close to the ground as i can and a freebie plant for them so they think they got my grow.

Thanks for the help guys, il look at a R.H. Meter, i think i need it for now. At least till i can tell when its time to jar it up.

OH, people always used to ask me what id do first if i just stood up from my chair and was cured. They all thought it would be funky sex, lol. But the most iv missed is a hard days work, so id dig a hole or run like i used to, but anything physical. Drives me nuts to watch the guy next door fix up his place and i cant mow the lawn. I just miss that feeling after a job well done i guess. And yeah the funky sex does come in second of course:dance013:

Hawaii MMJ has a Few Holes

Hawaii MMJ has a Few Holes

Aloha OH.
I'm a grower from big island. I thought there was a one ounce limit per plant for medicle Liscense.

Hawaii MMJ is not the most well written MMJ law out there. It is perhaps the strangest.

Hawii law says you can have one oz of MJ or MJ byproduct per mature plant. Byproduct also means Honey oil or Hash or Kief. It takes a lot of product to make Kief or Honey oil. So I harvest a 5 pounder, shake the Kief off of her, chuck the shaken buds...guess what? I'm legal. I have my oz of byproduct.

The law puts no limits on the size of immature plants. Now define mature.

The state definition of mature is plants with visable flowers. But no prosicuter wants to take that case. It's only common sense that a mature plant is one that you harvest. Until you take it...it ain't mature. The prosicuters office does not want to get into this (what is mature?) fight.

They also are not allowed to come on your property to look. The cops have to be in a chopper 500 ft above looking down AND they can't hover over your legal grow. They have a map of the legal grows, so they do a fast check, but all they can do is a fast count of the holes.

So as a rule you get 7 holes. How much you pull from them is up to your growing skills.

Last year Green Harvest flew over 4 times. I was nervous....too say the least....but they counted and left me alone.

Baisicly Hawaii MMJ as written, is a can of worms the state chooses not to open. An oz per mature plant is unenforcable. An oz of what? Not with the constraints the state places on itself. Like they can estimate yield from a chopper 500 ft away moving at 60 MPH. So they choose not to enforce it. Its debatable if they could.

Same thing with the 3 mature and 4 immature garbage. Ever seen or heard of the state enforcing that?

MJ brings 3.2 Billion...thats with a B....into the state. We have the lowest arrest for mj in the country. The powers that be know, and don't want to upset the apple cart. They take their cut each time the money is spent.

I'm not telling you to go crazy. You have to be comfortable with what you do. If I were in your shoes I would make an appointment with a good defense lawyer. Ask him how he would defend you if you kept within the numbers, but grew your plants a little bigger than "legal". After he gets done laughing he will point out a few more loopholes other than the ones I just did.

I am so jealous. I hate the mainland. The central valley of California is fucking me up! I have the option of moving to the rainforest of Costa Rica, but with the lady and the little girl, there is a slim to no chance of that happening. I wish I could be in your neck of the woods smoking some good pakalolo and surfing. Good luck this season!

Aloha kakahiaka, oldhaole!

Just stumbled across this thread and wanted to wish you well on the upcoming season.

I still haven't finished reading the whole thread, so I got some catch up reading to do. I don't want to gloss over anything you've written here and I'm a bit busy myself today.

I plan on getting my work done by this afternoon, sitting down with a nice bowl and going over this thread so I can catch up. Lots of good grow tips in here from what I've read so far.

Mahalo,

Monday Morning Quarterbacking

Bong...You have my sympathies. Wife's family is from SC and I will use any excuse at my disposal to get out of going back. When they finally corner me....I count days until I come home.

Bogart...Pass the damn joint already!
Your telling me people actual read this shit? OMG!
I hope I at least entertained you. I promise it will get better. Trees are so much more fun than starts.

Inquest...You know your shit. I was thinking "no way he'll pull that grow off"....now....I think you will.

LSY....funky sex vs digging hole? Dude...no comment.

It's been a week since the last house report. And what I see gives me some hope for regrows. The bottom garden is declaring already. Yanked a bunch of males from there. Five of seven holes have shown hairs....so I have at least one girl in there....Regrow?....odds have increased. :jump:

Now the pics

1) Rodney....now stop pouting.
2) This girl has regrow stamped all over it. When the side branches pass the top...you got a regrow.
3) Jack's nest...good thing the dog missed.
4) Two girls...I'd bet this hole will pay off big.
5) Bottom Thai crosses...three girls in hole 16. But I had three boys in 17. It all evens out in the end.

'till I broke 'em into thirds! That put an end to that shit! :D Kills your yield though... Still got a butt load of seeds. :D

Are you f@ckin with us? You're puttin out about a 1000 plants!? A 1000 potential 10+ footers?! LMAO And I'm feaking out about 10-20 two or three foot ladies in my closet! Man... you got some big, shiney, brass ones! Wishing you all the luck!

Stay safe guys!

It Sounds Like Alot....

It Sounds Like Alot....

But run the numbers....

Of the 1000 holes each with one plant....500 will be males...no joy there. Green Harvest will get half of the remaining....watch 250 fly away hanging under a chopper....bye,bye...now the rips...they get half....usually taken young. Say aloha to another 125. Then throw in the dreaded hermie...a missed male, rats, or flat out losing a few...say.....25....and we are looking at about 100 out of that 1000 we take.

Not done yet... I work with a partner. An even split. So I'm looking at a few big ones, and the rest will be Indica crosses I bred last year. So if...big if...we have a wet year I may get half of a hundred plants. Yield....no idea.

If it gets dry....it's all for nothing. Each year is different. Down the road I will drag you all into the fields and throw a few Cane Planting 101 posts at you all. Follow a couple of patches and see what happens. That should spice this log up a bit.

Wow, that's a lot of effort for 50 or so plants..... :/ F'in rippers.... I had a beautiful plant out doors years ago, untill some one decided to build a house not too far from it. It stuck around for a few weeks but I knew it was only a matter of time.... Some contruction worker prolly had the best leaf he ever smoked! Hahaha!! Cant wait to see the cane fields, man!

Stay safe!

On the curing topic earlier in this thread: how do you all go about it in the humidity there? I never grew when I lived on the big island, but the place I'm living on the mainland is about the same RH as Hilo side. I'm firing up my first grow and all the stuff I read about curing looks like it'd work best in sub-50% RH environments. Curious if you've got any high RH tips and tricks or if I should just set up a cabinet with a dehumidifier. Also, loveing the updates about you digging in and trapsing through the cane. Subbing this thread since it reminds me of home!

I'm old school. I trim them wet if possible. In fall the days are warm enough to hang them. It takes about three weeks, but they are fine to jar.

Winter is another story. If you have to use a dehumidifier...you gotta do what you gotta do. But I'd dehumidify a whole room vs a small closet. I find the slower the dry...the better.

If you overdry them...very hard to do... you can just leave them out and the high nightime humidity rehydrates them. Watch out for mold, it's easy to mess up. Put a fan on them, keep the air moving, no direct sun please.

Inquest....I just gave you the worst case scenero in a wet year.
Let me mess with the numbers again....go best case in a wet year.

Instead of planting single plants I plant 3 per hole. Now we only lose 100 holes to males. Green Harvest flies on cranking trade wind days and only finds a third. Rips get a third. Now we are getting half of 300....Sounds better huh?

My point? You can't predict what happens. It could go real good...or not. Unlike you.... there are many factors....beyond my control.

I can't describe going into a patch, every plant there, one after another....dripping....and all yours....the high is addicting.

Then there is going into a patch, that two weeks ago you saw huge, and almost ready...and now it's gone. Pissed?....Way beyond that.

It's the ultimate rollercoaster ride.

If you're as serious about growing as it sounds like, why don't you read into how to make your own feminized seeds? That would eliminate your male problem completely.

It's quite simple from what I heard.
