Jact55 Landrace Thread

It really is. Once i get into something i keep on adding on. Soil is a constant expense. Seeds are expensive, but making your own and diving into strains deeper thay way can save a ton of money. Then adding lights and fans and tents and whatever...oh well...we could be doing heroine or something lol.
Affie plants are a good place to start. Fairly forgiving. Keep us updated as you go.
So your brand new to growing? Never done it before?

Ive done a few grows with some seeds i harvested down in glenwood MN don't know if they're anygood really i just decided one day, that i had wanted to go fully swinging into this project and grow for bud and to further the generations of cannabis strains. And maybe even make my own, been looking for a few people who mightve bred some plants and would be willing togive away or sell some seeds for a few bucks *thanks tax season* so i could expand my genetic bank lol. But when i start here in abit ill make a grow log for sure

Alright, finally an update. This grow has been plagued by lack of attention. drought, some deficiencies, bugs seem to be growing in strength but they are all still making it.

First, update on DJ short blueberry. These are the most expensive seeds I have bought, and I was hoping to use them in future breeding stock. they have not disappointed. 2 of the 3 males were heavily frosty with a wonderful blueberry smell. good floral clusters. I did notice that only one of the three freely threw a lot of pollen. they all did a little, but the flowers didn't like to open. they are also hard to clone. 3 weeks plus just to start rooting. still fighting this, but they are staying healthy while waiting to root. I have one definitely keeper female. heavy frost, perfect structure and a strong berry smell. really all the others are impressive also. some have a berry smell, while others have a nice resin or I dunno dank fuely strong smell. all have nice structure and heavy resin, slight purples on the tips of buds are appearing.

pic 1 n 2- some male resin
pic 3- my keeper female bud
rest are random other bud shots, they are fairly uniform.
sorry for any sideways pics.
edit- well a couple didn't load, oh well. pic 2 is the keeper.

My lone double zamal was pollinated with blueberry pollen. she has started to resin up, and her stringy buds smell of a delightful citrus herbal smell. she has stayed fairly small but lanky. the other double zamals all hermied out. pretty sure the tent they were in has some light leak issues. this lone female stayed true and has turned into a nice plant. pic 1 is her, she was dehydrated when the pic was taken. pic 2 is her bud shot.

The Guatemala have 2 nice males, the other nice male hermied. it was the only hermie of the batch. I have 3 stunted plants or mutants. one female and 2 males. I have 4 or 5 nice females that are just starting to be pollinated by the nicer males. resin is starting early. smells are all variants of citrus. different undertones but all somewhat citrus, rest of the pics are of them. There seems to be a shorter wider leaf pheno and a taller slighty narrower leaf pheno, but neither are at sativa as I expected. maybe the LEDs have something to do with this.

I did pop 10 seeds of dave couliers African seeds repro of Durban poison. I have 9 plants that are all seedlings. being testers, I started a thread here: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=350385
I will also update here. nothing really to see yet.

Glad you're back! Even with the troubles you've been having, things are looking good in those tents. Shame about the zamal hermies, but that last girl looks gorgeous. Blue zamal sounds like a great starting point for working a more indoor friendly cultivar. Keep it up, spring is close!

very nice thread with so much sativas landraces ,and very well grown .

i will follow your thread in the future

made my night watching this

hey djimb and lagoutche, thanks for stopping by. appreciate the kind words. a blue zamal will be something, no idea how two extremes will turn out, but we'll see eventually.
I snapped some more pics, here they are.

Yes they are ace. Kind of tamer than i was expecting/hoping. Not sure if they were just super selected/bred or dumbed down with another strain (like their panama). Didnt think it was supposed to be.That being said, i dont have alot of experience with central american strains. They are nice plants though. Good citrus smell and frost.

more bud shots. The blueberry and zamal are getting close. the zamal has under a week, the blueberry a little longer. the blueberry got over-pollinated, hoping I can find some decent healthy seeds.
the durbans are growing fast, and displaying some odd traits. The Guatemala are frosty as hell. one has like double seed pods, or something...

Its tropical seeds double zamal. I had germination issues with french touch k1, 1 outa 10 and it hermied. The double zamal also hermied on me 6 out of 7, i blame my shitty tent they were in, light leaks. This lone female stayed true.
Ive since re-up'd and got 20 k1 and 10 mangu carot that ill sprout at a later time.
Something about these strains speaks to me. This double zamal had been hit with blueberry pollen, i just started plucking seeds last night, they should be interesting. But i gotta make some pure zamal replications at some point.

I think the zamal lines carry a lot of hermies by nature mate.:tiphat:

Hello thejact55 look at the varietie sold heaven seed , you will be surprised .

Agreed. Reverse those words though. It's the only outlet for the Derg Cora Collective (a Google of that name will also bring up the site, if my vaguaries are confusing), who maintain a lot of the old Bluehemp lines and some other interesting middle eastern/ north african varieties, like Aunt of Farouk and Maroc Inspiration . They also have a Chocolate Thai F5 that I've been eyeing for a while. They have seed from other sources as well, but I haven't explored them much. Definitely worth a look.

Derg Cora sure have a lot of the old classic lines for a reasonable price. And they donate a % of the sales, this to me is worthy also.
