Flushing has always struck me as a really odd activity, it doesn't progress as far as blanching, it looks to me that the plant actively shifts nutrients to the most active growing areas (the buds). I personally don't flush, never have in decades, never have had an issue. But I don't fert much at all, most of the goodness is in a very active soil mix. I don't "flush" any other crop I grow. Never saw the sense, never "tasted" a reason for it, never did anything positive for the plant in my opinion. There is not a single other plant in the yard or greenhouse that seem to benefit from a cessation of nutrients.
But if it works for you, do it. Hell, I still meet people that put nails through the main stalk. If it floats your boat and isn't sinking mine go for it and good luck!
