here, 15 ml per gal fnb is not for yield. more nutes dont make more yield. if it was that easy every new grower that pours the entire bottle into their dwc would have 2 elbo plants.
15 ml/gal fnb is done here to fully push the plants' aromatics, reproductive organ production, texture & final filling capacity...
yield is never really a factor here. only quality of final product... fnb & floralicious bloom have consistently created flavorful, fragrant & truly filling fruits & vegetables.

fnb is stopped in week 4 or 5 here anyway, depending on 9 or 10 week variety. always go @ least 9 weeks... ideally, want 4 wks w/ no n being applied, so by time harvest comes, plant has drained itself of all strength building blossoms.

from wk 5-9, only liquid kool bloom, floralicious bloom & molasses (food & feed grades). these are both root & foliar applied. foliar feed kool bloom too. all @ ~>1 tsp per 32oz spray bottle @ ph 7.0+.

yes, be careful; but dont be terrified of following bottle instructions... have you actually fed w/ this inferno-inducing 15ml, or just figure it must burn plants? amazing how the bottle instructions & gh's agressive feed regime can simply be ignored...

again, the lucas formula of 8ml/gal, was not developed for agressive growth.... it was developed for a basic, fundamental feeding regimine.

it is also thoroughly discussed in the original lucas (gh @ 8ml/gal) threads that the more light applied, the more nute that can be applied. if only have 250w, or even a 400, maybe stick w/ lucas - be safe, secure & have kiss garden...

under 1k's 15ml/gal fnb is very doable. strain dependent - but doable. if never even try it though, & rely on subjective machines & net for data, will never know...

doable, perhaps, but extremely unbelievable without seeing evidence or as you said trying it oneself. But that will most likely never happen here.

15 ml / gallon of FNB = just about 3.8 EC

3.8 EC = Totally unimaginable in this garden coco only dtw because I have yet to find a strain that doesn't burn above EC 1.4 and that's with FNB.

Hey, haven't had time to read through all the thread but will do later.. anyway...

EC wise I'm currently using 2.0 over the tapwater EC. Will be pushing it up over time probably, as they still want more nutes.. Using the full canna range. They are 1.6m monsters though, only up to day 10.

Can work it out in ppm's etc later. I used to take it up until they just burn (around 5-6mL/L, again canna coco) and then lower it slightly and run to waste. Truncheon is far more accurate though :biggrin:

I put the clones straight onto a 12/12 light cycle.

The clones go straight onto bloom nutes, 1.5 EC.

The EC is then increased .1 each week finishing ar 2.2 EC.

Some people might think putting clones onto 1.5 EC is to high.

But it works for me.

I have used sveral brands of coco and i now use the brick from atami.
It holds alot of air.
I water 4 times per day x 15 minutes, i get about 14 minutes of runoff. I have now (day 3 week 7) ec of 3,7. Pretty high but seems to be okay when having a lot of runoff.

Also have runned 12litre pots, handwatered 1 time per day. Cant go over ec 2.0 then they get burned.

So i think that using different growing types needs different ec values etc....

basically it's a strain thing, to a certain extent anyway. It's also a coco thing. you do get plants sometimes that will prosper with crazy high ec levels, 2.4 ec is about the highest i've seen doing well in coco and that was with a super skunk clone. but on average the clones that people pass around tend to do best in the 1.6 to 1.8 range. but this can vary greatly strain for strain, my old WW can not yield well if i feed her over 1.3 ec and mostly below that. in general i agree that more is not always better, but not enough is not ideal either.

but when it come to other grow systems, like airoponics, or normal hydroponics, i have also seen plants do extremely well with incredibly high ec levels, in fact there was an airoflow grower on this site who used ec 1.8 as a starting point and ended up with ec 4.0 with some strains. his handle escapes me right now. plants will adjust to how they are treated too to a certain extent, as long as you are consistent.

Exactly! A buddy of mine and I have had wildly different EC's with the same strain even though we both have healthy plants. This has been happening for years between us with all kinds of strains.

Along with that the Original Diesel strain I have took up 2.3 EC in flower last run and now I have that same strain in flower at 1.5 EC, a little smaller plants but much different EC's while both being healthy.

This topic has confused my buddy and I for years, but I really believe gauis is correct in that you can condition plants to receive different EC's while maintaining healthy plants.

this is how got ~2.0 ec w/ 15 ml of gh fnb. total ppms will be ~1300, or slightly >than 2.0 ec...

never got a 2520 ppm reading from 15 ml of fnb

I am using a Blue Labs Truncheon so it also has EC, CF, 500:1 ppm scale (Hanna) and 700:1 ppm scale (eutech).

And 2.0 EC = 1000 ppm (500:1) = 1400 ppm (700:1) = 20 CF

Our meters use the same scales because these are international standards. EC is EC is EC

Yet your meter says 15 ml of FNB is 2.0 EC

What am I missing here?

What's the model number of this meter?

another thing I'm a little confused about is the numbers on the FNB label

Acording to GH, 2.5 ml = .5 EC and 5 ml = 1.0 EC and 10 ml = 1.9 EC, but 15 ml = 2.6 EC? Does the stuff become weaker as more is used?

Note that the FNB label numbers are based on the Hanna (500:1 or x500)
 
I remember a while back dongle69 requested that gh measure ec readings from floranova bloom.
Their results were the same as everyone but mistress.
8ml = 2ec.
15ml was like 3.7ec.
So the question is how is mistress getting different readings than everyone, including the manufacturer?

Thanks for the invitation, but I read the whole thread and am fully aware of the different ppm conversion factors

USA 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 500 ppm
European 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 640 ppm
Australian 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 700 ppm

For example,
Hanna, Milwaukee 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 500 ppm
Eutech 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 640 ppm
Truncheon 1 ms/cm (EC 1.0 or CF 10) = 700 ppm

GH uses the USA/Hanna conversion. How do we know this? Take a look at the ppm/EC conversion chart linked to above and look at the FNB label on the GH website on which it clearly states that 5 ml is supposed to = 500 ppm = 1 EC

So when GH says 1400 ppm on the feeding chart for 15 ml of FNB, that means 2.8 EC... 2.8, not 2.0

dont know how gardeners get over 3.0 ec w/ just 1 tablespoon of fnb..

I think you win the award for the most ironic statement in the thread, or perhaps the whole forum.

We get over 3.0 EC with "just" 1 tablespoon of FNB because in opposition to the labeling done by GH, most people have found that 4 ml of FNB usually = 1.0 EC and so on

Enjoy your garden too, but maybe your meter needs calibration or new batteries?

More power to you if your plants can handle 15 ml of FNB, but 15 ml of FNB will not and has never been 2.0 EC.

You could poll this website and probably find 500 people that currently have a bottle of FNB in their cabinets and a meter and none of them would come up with same number that you have - I would wager on that.

The question is not the EC/ppm conversion. The question is why Mistress's EC meter measures so high...something is clearly wrong.
