This should be an interesting comparison, thanks for doing it for everyone.

be interesting to see your results. i'm far from sold on leds as they currently stand.
I'm in complete SHOCK, PetFlora isn't in here.
LED's give that guy a boner.
Good luck on your test - LED's seem a great idea with all the heat you have.
I can't stop thinking about all those pineapples lol
Thanks for doing this - really curious to see and hear what you think and feel about LEDs vs HID.
After this grow we shall see what I purchase. I'm leaning towards Advanced's but if I get a killer deal through HGL than that will swing my vote.
They aren't much different in design at all, but those cheap imports aren't concerned with top bin LED's or quality of other components. They just need to sell it to you and do not need to worry much about their 'return to china' policy like a local importer/distributor is. They don't just sell you the same grow lights that are out on ebay, they actually care for the product and work with the manufacturer to ensure that the parts quality meets a minimum standard and won't be common to break within the warranty period.
If there is a problem they address it. Advanced LED used to use e-shine for the Diamond Series at first but had to drop them after their lights kept breaking. I have a few early DS100's from them, they were given to me because they were broken, opened them up and it was the wire was cut so damn short that it BARELY reached the power supply. Not only did they not leave any extra wire, they soldered them in instead of using the quick disconnects, presumably to save a dollar over a few hundred units.
I'm still waiting for that super generic ultra led grow light, but it has yet to come to market, or at least there are no grow logs for one.
Not saying you can't land a good generic, but its a sketchy market that says they're selling you a Ferrari but its the super low end Chinese version with a Hundai motor in it. And until you actually drive a real Ferrari you might be completely content with body and frame they sold you.
I've actually got a pile of some of those generics that I just cant bring myself to throw away outright. Blackstar LED replacement boards cost $75. Three out of four have broken at about the two year mark (and a few others returned). That makes them much much more expensive than the name brands that actually markets a product they expect to work. That's $40 per year to keep those 120watt Blackstar fixtures going past two years, with the first two years costing $140 each (~280 for the fixture).

I definitely agree about Advanced LED. They're in a different league using CREE bulbs, lifetime warranty, etc. More like Area 51, Onyx, Apache, IMO.
Does HydroGrowLED use CREE and have a lifetime warranty? If not, that's why I was thinking TopLED might be an informative side-by-side too.
