Honduras/Panama feminized-Day 81 Flowe

End of week 13, Day 91- The room and the hallway outside the room smells very DANK! The only appearance difference I see comparing to the end of week 12 is that the colas appear to be fatter. The biggest difference is the much stronger dank smell.

Not worried about the timeframe because I’ve put this much time and effort into the plant and I’m not going to waste all of that time and effort by cutting it down too early. I definitely want to use the space to start other grows I had hoped I’d be able to start by now but like almost all grows nothing goes exactly the way you had hoped.

It’s such a nice plant and I’ve developed a good relationship with it over time, that I want it to be at it’s best at the time of harvest. So it takes as long as it takes.

Training mistake pinched a branch, it flopped and dried up. I’m going finish drying it and get an early taste. Nice find when I only went in the tent to clean up and come out with some surprise samples.

Day 99, 14 weeks and one day. Still looks pretty much the same and maybe 30% orange pistils, maybe. Looking like at least 16 weeks, maybe more.

Day 101. I turned down the light to 60% about a week ago. I’m getting so used to having her around that she has become part of the furniture. I sometimes go two or three days without even checking on her. I’ve gotten used to her super slow pace that I expect her to take her sweet time and I know that in three days she will probably look pretty much the same. I’ve finally learned to relax and enjoy the slow maturation.

Everybody wants their plants to finish as soon as possible because they are eager to experience their new treats. I knew that the expected 12 to 13 week flower time would test my patience. I usually like plants that finish around sixty days. It allows me to try more strains. So stretching it out to 84 to 91 days is really long for me, I have been pretty antsy many times and frustrated when it went past the 91 day mark.

It was an especially frustrating time when after passing the 91 day mark, she didn’t look close to finishing. I started to think that maybe I had done something wrong to make her finish so slowly. And maybe I did, I’m not sure. That didn’t bother me too much though because she always looks healthy. I thought that even if I did do something wrong, it didn’t seem to affect her.

I finally got past that being annoyed by the situation feeling and accepted the fact that she is slow to finish and that’s just the way it is. I now appreciate a long finishing plant and this grow experience. No use getting frustrated and annoyed about a situation that you can’t do a damn thing about. I learned a lot about myself from her.

I know many growers don’t want anything to do with a plant that could take 100 plus days to finish and takes up a big percentage of your tent space. I grew some sativas back in 2012 and I didn’t have the patience for that type of grow. So I’ve not grown any since. I was reluctant to try again but I thought I would give it another shot.

It hasn’t always been easy but I know in the end my patience will be rewarded. I know this plant after spending all of this time with her and watched her grow into a healthy, vigorous plant. She will be great.

I need some advice from sativa growers. After they re-flowered, do you treat them like plants that don’t reflower and wait for the pistils to turn to brown or orange? I’m concerned because quite a few smaller leaves are getting very brown and crusty. I can see there is some resin on those dried up leaves and I don’t want to be wasting resin if I should be cutting this plant down.
I’m not sure how this plant is supposed to look at this stage. I don’t have a magnifying glass to look at the resin, I need to get one I know, so for now I go by how the pistils look. I’ve never harvested a plant full of white pistils but I’ve also never grown a plant flowers a second time. My inexperience is showing.
A little help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.😉

You have a good situation to be in :)
On one hand you have a sample bud which should tell you enough about where you were a good week ago.
On the other hand just follow the plant.
If your reflowerings feel too constant try shortening the light on/off schedule to 11/13 or 10/14.
From the pictures it looks like the resin could still need some maturing, you can see the color becoming more silverish/white within days. The trick is to keep the leaves green as long as possible so you don't have too much brown leaves in the foxtails.
It looks good to be chopped in one week, imo. But if the test smoke feels ok already, then you can just let her sit in darkness for 2 days and harvest.
Enjoy :)

Thanks Koondense. I shortened the light cycle to 11 hours awhile ago and I dimmed the lights to 60%. I like the idea of harvesting it in about a week based on resin color.
goingrey what do you use resin color as well?

Resin color yeah. Or would the correct term be resin opacity. Not too hellbent on getting a lot of amber but I want to minimize the amount of clear/glistening trichomes.

But also the weather outdoors and real life schedules indoors. Sometimes they just have to go down early. Still good, often!

The samples were pretty good but I think that branch broke a couple of weeks before I found it and it was pretty dry at that point. It didn’t dry in optimal conditions. It was in the tent with a lot of light, heat and pretty dry, about 30-35%. Then I finished drying it quickly in my dehydrator. I was eager to try it and it had already not dried in the best of conditions, so I didn’t think I could hurt it too badly. I was very lenient judging the affects of the broken branch samples. It showed a lot of promise but I knew it wasn’t going to show what the plant could really do compared to a properly dried and cured sample.
I enjoyed it and smoked it all up in one day, which is always a good sign. If she changes some this week in terms of resin opacity😎, I’ll cut her down. I’m going to try to some better close up photos and expand them to get a better look at the resin.

Hon x Pan is my favorite ace strain. This was one of my last buds. She really improves after a 6 month cure. smells like straight lemon pledge
Looking forward to that! I’ve got an Archive Seeds- The Vision, I just cut down this week. It has by far the strongest lemon fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It’s like Lemon extract and lemon essence. It’s a cross between an Ohio Lemon G and Do-Si-Do. The whole room is filled with Lemons. If you are Lemon lover then this is the plant to grow. I grew it out about three years ago and made hundreds of seeds. Germinated some recently as a test to determine if the germination rate was still good. They have been in sealed containers in the frig. It was 100% germination rate and we swapped some seeds.
I decided to grow out one of the germinated seeds and hoped it would be female. Luckily it was. Now I have a lemon scented house as it dries. I had to run my big air cleaner that has hepa filters because it as starting to stink up the whole house.

The Vision is rough trim by hand and quickly hung up to dry. It was grown in a #1 pot. I was in a hurry and I didn’t trim it pretty tight like I usually do before I dry. I’m planting trees in my yard DIY and I didn’t have any energy left to trim it properly.

Try digging holes for 30 inch diameter roots balls that weigh a minimum of 400 pounds. The holes have to be at least twice the size of the rootball. 60 x 60 inch and 20 inches deep and we’re dug by me with a handheld auger and shovels. Then wrestling the 400 pound rootball off the pick-up and getting it placed in the hole properly is a real adventure.

Those root balls aren’t uniformly shaped and when all that weight gets moving it is very hard to control. I felt like I was wrestling a bear getting that thing off the truck and properly placed in the hole. Then all of the backfilling, fertilizing and mulching. I got a wholesale price on three trees from a well known local tree farm so I couldn’t pass up the deal. I knew I wasn’t going to pay a landscaping company to plant them because I knew the price would be outrageous.

The only help I had was my girlfriend who wanted to do this more than me but I also knew it was dangerous and I wasn’t going to risk a friend getting hurt over a damn tree. We talked about the risks at length and foolishly decided to go for it.

I was dreading the day the tree farm called to say they were ready for pick-up because I knew all of the hard labor that was involved getting the sites prepared by hand, transporting them, unloading them and getting them in the ground. It was even harder than I had imagined.

The tree farm had watered down the root balls the day before we picked them up which made them extra heavy. I did some hot footin around in those holes trying to manipulate those things into place as they shift and roll back into you. I’m in my sixties and I was crazier than hell attempting it.

We got it done but I don’t think I would recommend anyone trying it regardless of age without the proper equipment and training. I’ve been pretty strong my whole life and I’m still pretty strong for my age but man the first time that thing shifted and I tried to push it away I realized pretty quickly that I was no match. I had to maneuver it in very short, jerks budges, tilting and rolling. Took forever and I was beat after one tree.

I was so exhausted from all of the digging and bear wrestling that I took the next day off before tackling the next one. Took me five days to plant three tree.

Save up and let the pros do it. Honestly I could have broken my damn back. Well it wasn’t the first dumb thing I’ve done and it won’t be the last. I do however feel pretty satisfied and pleased with the results when I step back and look at them. Pretty proud too. And exhausted and sore all over. Used muscles I haven’t used in years.

The Vision

Today 10am est. Take a look and zoom in. What do you think? Looks pretty close to me. Not the greatest close-up but they give you a pretty good idea.
