Wouldnt the shade from the plants keep the rootzone in an acceptable level?
Reason I ask, in my particular set up, its an aero stadium as you know D, the temps in the room are steady at 83F during the summer. Its a basic fence post design and I havent had problems with high temps around the rootzone.

The bucket might be shielded from radiant heat, but it's still subject to the air temperature, and heat rises.... Chill the water, or get some coco. This is a problem i had never even considered... when I was thinking about fitting the bobbleracks with buckets. Good thing I chose coco... Just gotta keep the bugs in check...

I think it definaetly has something to do with ambient temps in the room higher up on the walls. It must be, but its very strange, the reservoir temps in the wall units are lower then my flat aero systems. I really think a chiller will solve the problem. If that doesnt do it maybe i need to start thinking of some medium to buffer the extra heat.

Im putting together a home made chiller for the future when i move to my new location.

Its a deep freezer, with a wort chiller submerged in a 5 gallon bucket of antifreeze. The reservoir water will be pumped through the wort and back to the res continuosly. This will also aeriate the water.

heres a link to some dudes who use this setup. its the paragraph titled 'solution temps"

Has anyone here tried this method? I like it beacuse you can fit two buckets in a deep freezer and chill 2 different reservoirs.

I just read up to here. I don't normally compliment a guy's racks, but yours are spectacular! Way to persevere through challenges, I also found problems with buying clones from clubs in San Diego - between spider mites, powdery mildew, and root aphids... I'm done with clones and am sticking with seeds from here on out. Also looking forward to seeing your new setup, good luck with the short sale.

I dont know if the root aphid problem is totally fixed quite yet. I just spent an hour in the room (im gonna go blind if i dont remember to turn off that bulb) rearanging the plants for better coverage and tieing the plants up. Alot of the roots still look very weak from the attack! In the future a net will be built into the wall.

I wish i could implement the chiller now, but it would be near impossible now with the tight space to work with.

Thanks for the compliment Goozman, i actuall got the infected clones from some dude on the internet. A guy in a big red truck. (dont get anything from him) I took clones of everything so hopefully the roots aphids will be wiped out for the next run.

Tell me, really, how relieved do you feel? lol... It so frustrating when a project fails to launch... but once you get it up and running, the personal satisfaction of building your custom room... priceless.

Thanks guys but im still not counting my chickens yet! Believe it or not i still have some root aphids in the system. Ive lost a few plants and pulled them. Also my res temps are dangerously high, like 78 before lights out. Cant wait to get this run over with, and connect all walls plus the 4th wall (yet to build) to one chilled remote reservoir.

Its been a battle, ive been flushing the system with h202 every 10 days to fight off the yuckity yucks and it seems to be working. Once the chiller is running on the next run keeping the res at 68deg then it will be peanut butter !

I was skeptical about the 5ft inside diameter being too much, but now at 4 weeks the plants have filled in nicely and closed that gap. Ive had to tie back some of the bigger colas beacuse they were 6-8 inches away from the bulb. Its gonna be all about the veg time to get this ship dialed.

Still on the edge of my seat!

Im stoked that the design is working! just need to get it dialed in.

5.5 weeks in and starting to pack it on!

I started to build the 4th wall to complete the cube for the next run. ACs running almost 24/7 these days.. Girls are drinkin up a storm! The next rounds clones are lookin great.

Im not on the edge of my seat anymore, im laying back starting to settle in and relax...sort of.
