for me... one comes to mind without hesitation:

Physical Graffiti from Led Zeppelin

**********************************************

I also have a heavy fixation with:

In Through The Out Door from Led Zeppelin
Presence from Led Zeppelin
The Doors from The Doors
Who Are You from The Who
Let It Bleed from The Rolling Stones

**********************************************

I do enjoy music... I do not enjoy:
Tom's Diner from Susanne Vega
Luka from Susanne Vega

**********************************************

For sure Physical Graffiti is my fav zep album but I just picked up the "remasters" cd...looking forward to checking it out.

Peter Gabriel Security- awesome

David Bowie "Ziggy Stardust"

Pink Floyd DS of the moon/The Wall

Black Sabbath (l loved the "Live Evil" cd with Dio)

Ozzy's Diary of a Madman just a little more than Blizzard of Oz

Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's"

Jeez there are so many.

I really liked some of the older live Judas Priest- I think it was "Unleashed in the East" that had some great songs also.

New stuff:

Well, I thought Creed was something special for a new band.

I like the guitar player "Buckethead" also. I think he is an extremely interesting artist.

And that's it for now

Wow, many a wonderful album listed! I'm surprised no one mentioned Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow, one of my alltime favourites.

Grace Slick has a beautiful voice.

Then there was that one band, they seemed to have all the hits but never went on tour.

You can say that again.
That song 'somebody to love'
Blows me away everytime i hear it.

Even if i hear it 20 times in a row.

Ah there are so many good ones..

But how about

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

Not really rock, but it did and still does rock

:woohoo:

In reading thread I noticed some references to jazz. Even though the thread is about the greatest rock album, I'll mention some jazz faves.....

John Coltrane ----Giant Steps
Bill Evans----Waltz for Debby
Thelonious Monk---Brilliant Corners
Eric Dolphy---Out to Lunch

Back on topic in the world of rock......

Frank Zappa----One Size Fits All
Frank Zappa---Overnight Sensation
Frank Zappa---Joe's Garage.
Frank Zappa---Apostrophe

Heh... this seems like a "greatest pizza" thread, everyone's taste varies just a little bit.

I don't find myself listening to many "rock" albums these days, although I have to agree Jimi's "Machine Gun" on the Band of Gypsies album is pretty amazing. I always liked the Experience's set @ the LA Forum in '69.

I'm glad to see "Out to Lunch" got mentioned as a great jazz album.

:) ok.
